4. HALF-DAY PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP
Tuesday 1st October 2013
13:00 to 18:00
How to Draft an Effective
Export Control
Compliance Manual
HOSTED BY:
Overview:
An effective and robust compliance program is a key
element in avoiding export control violations, but too
often, exporting companies have policies and
procedures that simply recite their home country’s
export licensing rules without really guiding their
employees on implementing those requirements. This
workshop will go beyond the norm by exploring not only
industry “best practices,” but also explaining how flow
charts, checklists, and “crib sheets” can be powerful
tools in nailing down the “who” and the “how” of
compliance.
Why attend the Workshop:
In-house legal counsel, export control managers,
quality control managers, and anyone else who is
tasked with overseeing export control compliance and
developing the policies, procedures, and processes to
make it happen. Even if your company already has an
export control program, this workshop will show you
how to strengthen it and better maintain it. Those who
are anxious to explore how to automate their company’s
compliance efforts will particularly benefit.
Agenda:
12:30 Registration
13:00 Getting Beyond the “What” to the “Who” and
“How”
13:45 Key Elements of a Compliance Manual
14:30 Using Flow Charts, Checklists, and Other Aids
15:15 Break
15:45 Automating Compliance
16:30 Tips and Tricks for Getting Employee “Buy-In”
17:15 Why There Is No Such Thing as a “Perfect”
Compliance Program
18:00 End of workshop
