Unconference  is an ad-hoc gathering of people, born out of a desire to learn and share in an open environment, and where the participants co-create the agenda together.   The Theme for the Social Canvas Unconference is Arts, Music & Media, and the participants can learn, share and co-create through sharing sessions, workshops and talks 18-20 Aug, 2012, Mumbai Outskirts.

2. What is Unconference ?
Unconference is an ad-hoc gathering of
people, born out of a desire to learn and
share in an open environment, and where
the participants co-create the agenda
together.
The Theme for the Social Canvas
Unconference is Arts, Music &
Media, and the participants can
learn, share and co-create through sharing
sessions, workshops and talks. You can
participate by either attending workshops
or sessions by others, or by taking a
session yourself. The sessions are walk in-
walk on, and if you find a session
uninteresting, you can move on to another
one. When sessions aren't running, there's
usually other fun stuff happening like
food, music, dance, games, conversation or
games.

3. What can you expect at the
Social Canvas Unconference ?
Workshops, sharing
sessions, films, discussions, music
and interactions. Apart from a few
structured events and sessions by expert
resource persons, there will be a lot of
open spaces for participants to
self-organize around
interests, ideas, experiences, worksh
ops, play, media, music etc. with
each other in the spirit of sharing and
fun. There is no audience. Only
participants. And since we believe each
participant is a resource person, anyone
can host a session, help out with
planning, ask questions or share
something. Everybody is invited. There
really are no walls.

4. Venue of the Unconference
The Unconference happens in a
Forest Farm, in the jungles on the
outskirts of Mumbai. It happens amidst
naturally beautiful and inspiring
environs, surrounded by nature and
flora&fauna.
The proposed venue is Van
Vadi, a 64-acre forest farm, on the
foothills of Sahyadri. The land at vanvadi
is covered by 80% dense forest, there are
seasons streams flowing through the
undulating forest land. There is a rock
pool and bountiful flora and fauna.
Living at Van Vadi is rustic and
basic. There is plenty of fresh
air, water, trees, and stars at night. For
sleeping there are tents and a couple of
mud huts without walls.

If you would like to attend the
Unconference, please fill-out the form

receive an email confirming your
participation in the conference. Please
submit your form latest by July 31st.
We ask the participants to make and cover
their own travel arrangements, and also
contribute Rs. 1500/- towards their food
and accommodation.
The participants are also welcome to come
and volunteer with us from a few days
before, to set things up and prepare for
the unconference.
