The ground hosted 1992 World Cup match. But the modern infrastructure of an
international ground was missing from there. Hence the match day tickets were
sold from city’s bus stand. Yet the local organizers tried their level best & even
arranged a helicopter to dry the wet outfield in a that match.
An Indian ground also applied this ploy in the next World Cup. But they completely
messed with it as the helicopter blew the covers on the pitch & water leaked

were already badly injured & were taken to hospitals. But that
couldn’t stop him scoring a quick fire 52 on just 72 balls with 7
cracking fours. On October, 2015 Sri Lankan Cricket board honored

What Gavaskar did in a group match, this opener did almost the same in a
World Cup semifinal. He faced the first ball of the innings & was dismissed on

with a strike rate of 39.77 only. In the entire innings he hit only one four.
Thanks to his selfish innings, his team could register only 184 runs in allotted

than 11 overs to spare.

Ans – He is one of the ten Captains of New Zealand in Cricket World Cup. He
led the Kiwis in their 1979 World Cup campaign.

New Zealand were playing against Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup. Only two
runs were needed to win when Saeed Anwar mistimed a ball & it went high.
But before the batsmen could complete the runs, a wave of Pakistani crowd
rushed to the playing area in joy. Pakistan were awarded two runs &
declared winner. The Pakistani crowd carried off flags, banners & a cut out of
