DESIGN THINKING
STAGE -1
THE INCREASING NUMBER OF MENTAL
STRESS AMONG YOUTH
 STEP :-1
I really wish our city had a “Regimen” (a set
of rules about exercises or medical
treatment that people follow in order to stay
healthy to improve mental health) for young
people from the age of 15-30, who are
suffering from mental stress/anxiety.
 EMPATHIZE AND DEFINING THE
PROBLEM
STEP :-2
 Things we wish would exist:-
 A group of physiologist who can monitor peoples
mental health on a monthly basis.
 A stress free work culture.
STEP :-3
 To give value on mental health at the primary stage / lev
 We could feed more positive content on social media.
 Human relationships could be more better.
 Things we wish could be better?
STEP:-4
 PROBLEM:- We would like to address the challenge on “ Mental
Stress” in between the age group of 15-30, which is drastically
increasing in our country.
 Why this is a problem:-
 Increasing rate of suicide.
 Youths are the backbone of the country, if they
have to deal with such a issue at this stage then
how the nation will progress.
 Due to increasing rate of unemployment.
 UNDERSTANDING THE
CHALLENGE/PROBLEM :-
 What are the thoughts/constraints of the design
challenge that your team identifies :-
Our team understood that this is one of major issues
in our country which we are facing but the fact is no
one shifting their focus on the same and even they
are unable to recognize this as an issue.
We understood that this problem mainly occur due to
society, the work culture we have now, and the way
we talk on mental health.
We came to know people want to talk on this issue
but while taking the initiative to do so makes them
uncomfortable.
 What our team already know about the
challenge :-
 Identifying this issue is not an easy task, it requires physiological and
skills to identify this in people.
 It produces low productivity in work.
 People used to be frustrated all the time.
 It mainly occurs due to social media / digital gadgets.
 People shy to go for treatment due to society that what the people will
think.
 Nowadays it is very common between the young age groups.
 What are the key factors /major source of rising mental stress.
 How we can stop developing the stress in it’s early stage itself.
 What are the some best activities to be done or how to treat with them who
are suffering from this issue.
 How to identify that a person is in stress or not?
 What our team should like to know more
about?
 Who are our target users?
 Our target users group will be from the age group of 15-
30(mostly young ones).
 Define the user & their characteristics :-
 Our target users are teenagers and those also who have just
completed their degree and in search of their jobs.
They usually spend their time on electronic gadgets like phone,
laptop
etc.
They like to spend time with their friends having fun and
parties.
 Are they core users or extended users?
 Yes, they are the core user for our designed product.
DOING A RESEARCH :-
 List the candidates that you think will provide the most inspiration
and circle 3-5 that you want to engage with first :-
In our problem the best candidates that we think is the one who can provide us
the most inspiring content is college / university’s student from 2nd to 4th year,
who are just going to complete their degree as well as just reached their adult
ages.
So, they will be a good choice for us to interact first.
 A question guide for Interview (From broad to
specific) :-
 Give a brief introduction about yourself.
 What are your hobbies?
 How do you spend your most of the time?
 During the past 4 weeks have you had any problem with
your work or daily life due to your physical health?
 During the past 4 weeks have you had any problem with
your work or daily life due to any emotional problem, such
as feeling depressed, sad or anxious ?
 Have you felt particularly low or down for more than 2
weeks in a row?
 During the past two weeks how often has your mental
health affected your relationships?
 Have you ever been diagnosed with a
mental disorder before?
 When did you last get your mental health
examination done?
 How often do you feel positive about your
life?
 Are you a alcoholic?
 What is you quality of sleep?
 How many hours do you sleep?
 Overall how much you will rate your mental
health out of the scale of 10?
Continued…
 INSIGHTS
 Before starting the interview the candidates
were shying to talk on mental health issues.
 Surprising story :- “After 15 min of talk they
get very comfortable with us & starting
explaining each questions very clearly”.
 They understood why mental health issues
are important nowadays and why all should
know about this.
 They were mostly caring about society that
what they goanna think over this or how they
will treat this as an issue.
 What motivates them:- Our new initiative to
talk with them & have to create a good
environment with good mental health which
motivated them.
 Responses from our survey:-
 IDEATION STAGE
APPLI MENTALLY
 Some radical ways to meet our user’s need:-
 We can create an application/website by which two people
coming from different background can meet with each other with
their suitable time & can share their thought their vision their
concern their problems and a lot more things.
 Not only these they can involve also in some of the activities over
there which will help them to get over from the daily stresses
which they used to face.
Continued…
 HELP HIDES HAPPINESS 
 As per our research & study we
understood that people used to
find more happiness when they
help others no matter in which
way they are doing. So, creating
an organization to help people
and to involving these type of
people who are suffering from
anxiety/stress will be a good
option.
 In this manner, they will think
less about their past and future
and will be more concentrated
towards their present, & hence
they may get overcome from this
stress issues.
 BY SOCIETY FOR
SOCIETY.
 Human relationships is a major
influencing factor on our mental health
so, it should be more better in terms of
a healthy mind.
 A group of people used to conduct a
get-together in a month to have fun &
to get more closer to their families so,
we are thinking the same technique to
apply in this specific group of people by
organizing these types of events on a
monthly basis monthly so, that people
can get more closer to each other & can
have some time with their loved ones
which will give them a break from this
breakless life.
 LAUGH, CRY, & HEAL 
Continued…
 We are thinking to make a club where people can “Laugh, Cry, & Heal”
(Inspired by Japanese technique). In this club people will come and
will do some exercises on laughing & crying.
 As It is found out that these two activities are works as an medicine
and releases hormones in branes by which people will be able to
overcome from the mental stress.

FEEDBACKS
I personally found solution 1 is quite a better platform since if the beginning starts
with 2 or 3 people, they will be quite comfortable to share their pain, past
experiences and can also think over the future. After a complete successful session
of Solution 1, then Solution 4 can be implemented where all with same mindset will
join.
It's a good idea according to my opinion. It will help people to know new people, new
mind setups and also if they feel comfortable then they can definitely share their
problems and sometimes can feel relaxed.
I liked how human relations are given importance in today's technical world. You all can
organize breathing and meditation exercises which is very helpful in curing mental
stress. Well, the only difficulty lies is ,in changing the mindset of the Indian people who
are not well aware of their fitness be it physical or mental. So you all need to try hard and
be approachable.
You should work on a site. That doesn't show anyone's identity . On that site
everyone can express their feelings. Hobbies and other things that reflects their
personality. Nd after that people will get choices to their partners or friends.
 PROTOTYPE OF THE SOLUTION
 APPLI MENTALLY
Appli mentally
This Appli mentally is an application designed for the
younger generation based on their preference and
desire.
The main objective of this application is to build a
healthier mental health among youth so, we have
taken a step towards this by constantly taking their
views & feedbacks.
This application will have different types of features
like scheduling the meet with the people you want &
over a cup of tea they will be able to engage their
selves with different types of topics, activities and will
be able to spent some time which will help them to
get over from stress.
NOTE:-The main objective of this application is to build a
stress free society for living, this application won’t
be worked as a dating apps.
 What we are going to focus on this
application?
Features of the application:-
Security:-
User’s mental health over a period of time:-
Social help:-
 A Dashboard.
 A physical exercise guide.
 A good note pad.
 Personal information.
 Meeting place.
 Text message to a known one.
 A personal coach/mental health
counselor.
 Quizzes on a weekly basis.
 Brain games.
 Donation in NGO.
 Needy things.
 FEATURES OF THE APPLICATION
 A Dashboard:-
 A dashboard will be there in the application which will indicate user’s
mental heath over a period of time on different parameters, not only
that but dashboard will also monitor and will record in a monthly basis
how many meets you are doing (with duration) with people, which topic
you are choosing and what kind of field you have chosen the most.
 This dashboard will monitor are you doing progress or not, if yes/no
depending upon the result it will show a visual data of it.
 A physical exercise guide:-
 According to the user’s profile a specific physical exercise guide will be
there in the application which will guide the user to heal better from the
stress.
 Addition to that a healthy diet routine will be provided.
 A good note pad:-
 A note pad section will be there in the application in which the user
need to write everyday what is one thing they did good in the whole
day.
 SECURITY
 Personal information:-
 After Installing this application user will need to make themselves register in this
application, while registering they will need to enter their original name, phone no.(an
OTP will be send for verification), age, gender, mail-id, address, voter card ID/aadhar
card card ID, hobbies, likes, dislikes for our data base & these data will be secured in
our database.
 Meeting place:-
 As both the user will be stranger for each other so, for security
purpose the meeting’s date, time, & place will be recorded by the
application and this will be stored in the application’s server.
 A list of address will be already fixed in the application so, the user
can only arrange their meeting on that places only.
 Text messages to a known
one:-
 While finishing the scheduling the meeting time, date & place
they need to provide a contact details of one of their known
ones & as soon as the scheduling process completes these all
meeting details will be sent to that person via text message,
and mail.
 There will be a helpline no., too in that text to reach out the
 USER’S MENTAL HEALTH OVER A PERIOD OF
TIME
 A personal coach/mental health
counselor:-
 There will be a section in the application where some mental health
coach physiologist’s contact details will be provided, the user will
be able to contact them anytime for their issues, they can also
arrange a physical meet also for better communication.
 The coach will guide them throughout their development process.
 Quizzes on a weekly/monthly
basis:-
 In the application we will add a section for quiz which will directly linked to the
mental question.
 For example we will ask the user over a period of time what is their duration of their
sleep, Have you felt particularly low or down for more than 2 weeks in a row?, During
the past two weeks how often has your mental health affected your relationships?,
like these questions will add & this will let us know their progress.
 Brain Games:-
 Besides these quizzes there will one more section we have introduced
which is Brain Games, this will help the user to think over a particular
solution, & through these their problem solving skills will be enhanced &
not only this if they are feeling low then they can have a better time pass
using this games.
 SOCIAL HELP
 Donation for NGO’S:-
 This application will have a feature for donation where user can donate to the NGO
directly from their phone to the organization without any third party.
 This process will be end-to-end secure and will help these kinds of organization for
their better growth & development.
 Not only NGO’s but during any pandemic (like:-Covid-19) they can donate to the
government.
 Needy things:-
 Those users who don’t want to donate or those who are unable to donate
they will have one more option where they can post what are the things
which will be not used by them in future so, that this information they can
upload in the application and the user who need this thing they will get
matched each other on the platform and will be able to share with each
other.
 TESTING
 Due to lack of time and Covid-19 we could not be able to
implement this particular solution in real world but, we have
identified some possibilities through which we can make a
prediction that this solution may work.
 As per the feedback taken from the target user we found that
maximum of them are choosing this application as a best way to
overcome from stress.
 As youngsters are active on social media all the time so approaching
them through technology makes the chances higher for the success.
 As per the feedback received by the user we have tried to include
those features in this application only so, it’s a combination of all
the suggested solution which makes it more desirable to the users.
 This application will be like one stop solution for the remedy of
stress.
 We have tried to make the security tough so, that user won’t be
having of any fear and they can trust the other users.

Design Thinking ppt

  • 1. DESIGN THINKING STAGE -1 THE INCREASING NUMBER OF MENTAL STRESS AMONG YOUTH
  • 2.  STEP :-1 I really wish our city had a “Regimen” (a set of rules about exercises or medical treatment that people follow in order to stay healthy to improve mental health) for young people from the age of 15-30, who are suffering from mental stress/anxiety.  EMPATHIZE AND DEFINING THE PROBLEM
  • 3. STEP :-2  Things we wish would exist:-  A group of physiologist who can monitor peoples mental health on a monthly basis.  A stress free work culture. STEP :-3  To give value on mental health at the primary stage / lev  We could feed more positive content on social media.  Human relationships could be more better.  Things we wish could be better?
  • 4. STEP:-4  PROBLEM:- We would like to address the challenge on “ Mental Stress” in between the age group of 15-30, which is drastically increasing in our country.  Why this is a problem:-  Increasing rate of suicide.  Youths are the backbone of the country, if they have to deal with such a issue at this stage then how the nation will progress.  Due to increasing rate of unemployment.
  • 5.  UNDERSTANDING THE CHALLENGE/PROBLEM :-  What are the thoughts/constraints of the design challenge that your team identifies :- Our team understood that this is one of major issues in our country which we are facing but the fact is no one shifting their focus on the same and even they are unable to recognize this as an issue. We understood that this problem mainly occur due to society, the work culture we have now, and the way we talk on mental health. We came to know people want to talk on this issue but while taking the initiative to do so makes them uncomfortable.
  • 6.  What our team already know about the challenge :-  Identifying this issue is not an easy task, it requires physiological and skills to identify this in people.  It produces low productivity in work.  People used to be frustrated all the time.  It mainly occurs due to social media / digital gadgets.  People shy to go for treatment due to society that what the people will think.  Nowadays it is very common between the young age groups.  What are the key factors /major source of rising mental stress.  How we can stop developing the stress in it’s early stage itself.  What are the some best activities to be done or how to treat with them who are suffering from this issue.  How to identify that a person is in stress or not?  What our team should like to know more about?
  • 7.  Who are our target users?  Our target users group will be from the age group of 15- 30(mostly young ones).  Define the user & their characteristics :-  Our target users are teenagers and those also who have just completed their degree and in search of their jobs. They usually spend their time on electronic gadgets like phone, laptop etc. They like to spend time with their friends having fun and parties.  Are they core users or extended users?  Yes, they are the core user for our designed product.
  • 8. DOING A RESEARCH :-  List the candidates that you think will provide the most inspiration and circle 3-5 that you want to engage with first :- In our problem the best candidates that we think is the one who can provide us the most inspiring content is college / university’s student from 2nd to 4th year, who are just going to complete their degree as well as just reached their adult ages. So, they will be a good choice for us to interact first.
  • 9.  A question guide for Interview (From broad to specific) :-  Give a brief introduction about yourself.  What are your hobbies?  How do you spend your most of the time?  During the past 4 weeks have you had any problem with your work or daily life due to your physical health?  During the past 4 weeks have you had any problem with your work or daily life due to any emotional problem, such as feeling depressed, sad or anxious ?  Have you felt particularly low or down for more than 2 weeks in a row?  During the past two weeks how often has your mental health affected your relationships?
  • 10.  Have you ever been diagnosed with a mental disorder before?  When did you last get your mental health examination done?  How often do you feel positive about your life?  Are you a alcoholic?  What is you quality of sleep?  How many hours do you sleep?  Overall how much you will rate your mental health out of the scale of 10? Continued…
  • 11.  INSIGHTS  Before starting the interview the candidates were shying to talk on mental health issues.  Surprising story :- “After 15 min of talk they get very comfortable with us & starting explaining each questions very clearly”.  They understood why mental health issues are important nowadays and why all should know about this.  They were mostly caring about society that what they goanna think over this or how they will treat this as an issue.  What motivates them:- Our new initiative to talk with them & have to create a good environment with good mental health which motivated them.
  • 12.  Responses from our survey:-
  • 13.  IDEATION STAGE APPLI MENTALLY  Some radical ways to meet our user’s need:-  We can create an application/website by which two people coming from different background can meet with each other with their suitable time & can share their thought their vision their concern their problems and a lot more things.  Not only these they can involve also in some of the activities over there which will help them to get over from the daily stresses which they used to face.
  • 14. Continued…  HELP HIDES HAPPINESS   As per our research & study we understood that people used to find more happiness when they help others no matter in which way they are doing. So, creating an organization to help people and to involving these type of people who are suffering from anxiety/stress will be a good option.  In this manner, they will think less about their past and future and will be more concentrated towards their present, & hence they may get overcome from this stress issues.  BY SOCIETY FOR SOCIETY.  Human relationships is a major influencing factor on our mental health so, it should be more better in terms of a healthy mind.  A group of people used to conduct a get-together in a month to have fun & to get more closer to their families so, we are thinking the same technique to apply in this specific group of people by organizing these types of events on a monthly basis monthly so, that people can get more closer to each other & can have some time with their loved ones which will give them a break from this breakless life.
  • 15.  LAUGH, CRY, & HEAL  Continued…  We are thinking to make a club where people can “Laugh, Cry, & Heal” (Inspired by Japanese technique). In this club people will come and will do some exercises on laughing & crying.  As It is found out that these two activities are works as an medicine and releases hormones in branes by which people will be able to overcome from the mental stress. • 16. FEEDBACKS I personally found solution 1 is quite a better platform since if the beginning starts with 2 or 3 people, they will be quite comfortable to share their pain, past experiences and can also think over the future. After a complete successful session of Solution 1, then Solution 4 can be implemented where all with same mindset will join. It's a good idea according to my opinion. It will help people to know new people, new mind setups and also if they feel comfortable then they can definitely share their problems and sometimes can feel relaxed. I liked how human relations are given importance in today's technical world. You all can organize breathing and meditation exercises which is very helpful in curing mental stress. Well, the only difficulty lies is ,in changing the mindset of the Indian people who are not well aware of their fitness be it physical or mental. So you all need to try hard and be approachable. You should work on a site. That doesn't show anyone's identity . On that site everyone can express their feelings. Hobbies and other things that reflects their personality. Nd after that people will get choices to their partners or friends.
