What makes a good vlog?
• Speak from the heart
• Be honest / open
• Keep it short
• Have a ‘subject’ to talk about and some key
messages you want to get across
• Serialize your story
• Talk to your followers

• Sound
• Make sure phone isn’t on silent
• Test before/space on your phone
• Leave a gap before ‘action’
• Music /licences
• Framing your shot
• Right way up (iphone)
• Consent/disclosing details
• Trigger warnings
• Think about what you do/don’t want to say (names etc)
• Tags
• Title (what would you google?)
• Editing

Creating your YouTube channel
• Think carefully about choosing your YouTube channel name-you
cannot change it once it is setup
• It is easy to create a YouTube account and takes just two minutes. It
is even easier to upload videos once created.
• Be sure to make a profile, create tags for it and add links to your
social media sites like Twitter and then begin uploading videos!
• Subscribe to other YouTube channels and let them know you have
arrived by leaving comments under their videos. Maybe even ask
them to check out yours.
• It may take some time to build viewers and subscribes to your
channel, but be patient and be sure to keep promoting your
channel as much as you can.
