Bunnings BBQ FUNDRAISER
A huge thank you to Bunnings for allowing our Toy Library to hold a BBQ fundraiser at their
Tower Junction site. This was held on the 7th March and was a great success having made a
profit of almost $900 for the Library. A huge thank you also to Karina and the committee for
making this happen.

BAKING TIME – Banana bran MUFFINS
Banana bran & walnut muffins are a good way to use overripe bananas and a family favorite!
Ingredients:
100g butter, softened 1 ½ cups of plain flour
½ cup brown sugar ½ cup wheat bran
3 ripened bananas, mashed 1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ cup milk 1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract ¼ teaspoon salt
2 eggs ½ cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 190°c. Grease a muffin pan or line with paper muffin liners.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter & brown sugar until fluffy. Add bananas, milk, vanilla &
eggs; mix well. Stir in flour, bran, baking powder, soda & salt; blend just until moistened. Stir
in walnuts. Pour batter into prepared muffin cups.
Bake at 190°c for 20 to 25 mins or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the muffin comes
out clean. Cool in cups for 5 mins, then remove muffins and place on a wire rack to cool
completely.
3. WINTER is ALMOST upon us – Ahh what can the kids DO!!!
Remember as a child, it’s wet and cold outside and instead of ipads and movies we made our
own fun. I have fond memories of making an indoor cubby and hanging out with my siblings.
Sheets, cushions, pillows, boxes, dining room suite, the sofa, nothing was safe!
We challenge your chi ldren to make the coolest indoor cubby ever. Post a
picture of their cubby on the Christchurch South Toy Library facebook page and receive a
credit of $5.00 towards your next toy hire. Following are a few ideas to get the kids
thinking…….
