Lighting The positioning, and strength of lights, influencing the mood
Camera Shots How an image is presented on film, depending on the position of the camera
Close up A shot that focuses clearly on something in detail
Medium shot A shot that includes most of a scene
Long shot A shot that gives a distanced picture
Wide-angle shot A shot that shows a panoramic view
Low-angle shot A shot that looks up from below and can make something bigger or sinister
High-angle shot A shot that looks from above and down on something, often to make it look smaller
Editing sequence How shots are cut and spliced together
Pace The speed of a sequence of images
Fade A scene gradually disappears
Sound effects Extra sound added in for effect, eg. Smashing glass
Music or soundtrack Used to enhance the mood or reflect the images being shown
Voice over Someone speaking over the top of a sequence of images to provide more information
