The boredom experienced by passenger during the long haul journeys.
2. Customer Segment:
For families with younger children/ individuals who are making long-
haul flights
3. So what is the plan?
a. To develop a software that would connect all the passengers
b. To redesign the chairs/seats
4. Why do we need this?
In the current scenario the only source of entertainment on a flight is
the video system and the books that is provided, but for journeys
spanning over 24hrs there are very less options for keeping oneself
engaged/busy.
This leads to passengers opting for break journeys and in turn less
revenue for the aircraft operators
3. 5. How will the plan work?
a. To develop a software that would connect all the passengers
Man is a social animal and seeks attention/interaction with fellow
beings. The long periods (flight journey) where he has to spend
time alone is a nightmare. He is bored, frustrated and longs for the
journey to come to an end.
Our idea is to create a software that would connect all the media
systems (already present in the aircrafts). Through this network, a
passenger can communicate with fellow passengers in the aircraft
and not just the one sitting next him.
This network would also be used to play music or videos as per the
choice of the passenger (each individual can browse through a
library of audio and video files and play the one which he likes). A
headset is provided to each passenger (in order to ensure that he
doesn disturb others)
4. The network will also be used to engage passengers by allowing
them to participate in group activities like quiz/lotto etc
The network will also stream live information from the cockpit,
information such as over which country the aircraft is flying, what
are the sightseeing places in that country, the culture and heritage
of the place. Sample videos of the place can also be streamed to
provide passengers a real life experience.
b. To redesign the chairs/seats
The idea for redesigning the chairs/seats stems from the need to
enable ppl have face to face interaction. Consider a family that is
making a long haul flight and even with best of the best media
devices available there is no substitute for sitting together.
By redesigning the chairs/seats, there is a provision for the
families to roll up / slide the seat into a mattress and the whole
family can sit together (for dining, playing board games etc)
5. 6. Why should the aircraft company go with our solution?
Currently 25% of the passengers make long haul flights regularly.
The only source of entertainment is the video system and the
books that are provided onboard. With the cut throat
competition and raising aviation fuel prices, the only way aircraft
industries can make money is by retaining customers, provide
and pamper them with services and then attract new
customers.
There is no aircraft which is currently providing the above
mentioned facilities and also since we have patented the seat
redesign and also copy protected our software we have both the
first movers advantage and the necessary system to protect our
idea.
