Teaching Philosophy
 My main purpose is enabling students to work and construct their own
knowledge rather than just receiving ideas and information. To become a
facilitator where our students can engage in dynamic activities, where
ideas can be shared, and become a place of interaction and exploration. I
am fully committed to help developing our attendees’ skills by presenting
information and facilitating activities which have been reviewed
exhaustively in order to comply with the established goals.
 My intention is to create a relaxing atmosphere where the audience feels
as comfortable as possible through a set of warm-up and ice breakers
exercises that will help them as a group to get acquainted and feel
confident at the moment of carrying out what we have learned in the outer
world.
Description of the Teaching Practicum
 Spelling and Pronunciation is a course designed to prepare students of
English to achieve language proficiency through a series of communicative
language exercises. During my time with the group I could found out that
only one person is in contact with the language in daily basis. The rest of
the students were not in contact but only on Sundays when they had
classes.

 DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE:
 During this module, students will acquire skills and confidence in using essential expressions,
to improve their vocabulary and pronunciation. They will practice with minimal pairs, tongue
twisters and take dictation of words, sentences and paragraphs to increase the level of
understanding of English pronunciation. They will develop practice periods to learn to
distinguish and then produce the desired sounds. Songs will be used to reinforce the correct

 JUSTIFICATION OF THE COURSE:
 This course is designed for those students who want to improve their communicative skill and
vocabulary. It also provides special emphasis on understanding and speaking core for effective
communication.

 GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
 Achieve the acquisition of skill and confidence in the use of basic expressions, to improve
vocabulary and pronunciation.
 Familiar with the patterns of language ad perceptual processes
 Know the spelling rules in English language.
 Understand the correct use of dictionary as an aid in reading and writing.
 Deduce the meaning of new words based on the suffixes or prefixes that compose them.

 GENERAL OBJETIVES:
 Knowledge:
 Identify homophones
 Syllabic accentuation according to the rules of the English language
 Use of the dictionary

 Skills to:
 Find words in the dictionary according to meaning of the context in which it is located.
 Practice with minimal pairs (pairs of words that are the same except for one sound)
 Discriminate the different sounds of the letters either in the plural or the past simple.
Syllabus
 Attitudes to:
 Give the correct intonation of the sentence according to the purpose the person has to speak.
 Overcoming fear to utter incorrectly by constant practice.
 Practice good spelling habits.

 REQUIREMENT OF THE COURSE:
 - The participant must accomplish on time and mandatory on the scheduled dates, with the evaluation criteria,
such as attendance, homework, exercises, assignments, partial and final project, which will be assessed by
the instructor of the course.
 - Classes will be started on time with students who are present in the classroom.
 -Assignment is delivered only on schedule; work submitted at a later date will not be accepted.
 - In each assignment, research, chat, forum, workshop, final paper or other academic activity, the spelling will
be evaluated.
 - The final project must adjust to the diagram provided by the teacher. The teacher is a guide and facilitator in
the methodological development.
 - It is an obligation of the professor require their students academically, according to the objectives and own
performance during the development of the class.
 - A student who is found to have plagiarized a paper by another classmate or who have downloaded Internet,
presenting it as his own, will not receive final assessment and lose the course.
 -All work, projects, hands-on labs must be published in the virtual platform (http://virtual.oteima.ac.pa).
 -Students should dress appropriately and keep respect, courtesy and consideration in their dealings with their
classmates, professors and staff of the university.
 In the classroom, it is prohibited:
 -Smoking or eating.
 -Using cell phones and / or any other electronic device such as iPod, CD, Mp3, Mp4, iphone, radios, tape
recorders, etc.
 -The use of caps, flip flops, shorts, low cut blouses, miniskirts, tight fitting clothes or any clothing that fight
against morality and decency of this university.

Reflective Journal
 Helping students to accomplish their goals is not only relevant but also
imperative at the moment of delivering instructions and advices in
learning a language different from our native ones. For that reason, there
are four elements I always recommend to get additional information and
training from.
 First, web pages such as Facebook, eblioteca.org and VK (a Russian-based
social networking page) contain large information about how they can get
better.
Reflective Journal
 Another fundamental tools are MOOC’s (Massive Open Online Courses)
We need to make sure that we are always trained in the latest tendencies
of our specialty. MOOC´s are a very economical alternative to maintain
ourselves up-to-date. But above all, their fundamental advantage is that
they are self-paced. Which means that we do not need to enroll on specific
dates, instead we can start the course whenever we want, at the time we
want and at any place we are. Likewise, most of them are available in
English or Spanish, so the language barrier is not an obstacle to keep
growing.
Final Reflection
 The practicum is an experience that grant us to receive feedback from
other colleagues. It allowed me to meet and encounter several new tools I
did not know. These instruments will allow me to improve my methodology.
In addition, it permitted me to experiment, try and apply new classroom
activities that will allow our students to think out of the box.
 In regard the course what I like the most is the challenge to develop
appealing methods The only recommendation I have is to better explain
some of the aspects of the final project that were not clear just by reading
the instructions or the material posted online.

  • 3. Teaching Philosophy  My main purpose is enabling students to work and construct their own knowledge rather than just receiving ideas and information. To become a facilitator where our students can engage in dynamic activities, where ideas can be shared, and become a place of interaction and exploration. I am fully committed to help developing our attendees’ skills by presenting information and facilitating activities which have been reviewed exhaustively in order to comply with the established goals.  My intention is to create a relaxing atmosphere where the audience feels as comfortable as possible through a set of warm-up and ice breakers exercises that will help them as a group to get acquainted and feel confident at the moment of carrying out what we have learned in the outer world.

Description of the Teaching Practicum  Spelling and Pronunciation is a course designed to prepare students of English to achieve language proficiency through a series of communicative language exercises. During my time with the group I could found out that only one person is in contact with the language in daily basis. The rest of the students were not in contact but only on Sundays when they had classes.

They will practice with minimal pairs, tongue twisters and take dictation of words, sentences and paragraphs to increase the level of understanding of English pronunciation.   • 6. Syllabus  JUSTIFICATION OF THE COURSE:  This course is designed for those students who want to improve their communicative skill and vocabulary. It also provides special emphasis on understanding and speaking core for effective communication.   GENERAL OBJECTIVES:  Achieve the acquisition of skill and confidence in the use of basic expressions, to improve vocabulary and pronunciation.  Familiar with the patterns of language ad perceptual processes  Know the spelling rules in English language.  Understand the correct use of dictionary as an aid in reading and writing.  Deduce the meaning of new words based on the suffixes or prefixes that compose them.   GENERAL OBJETIVES:  Knowledge:  Identify homophones  Syllabic accentuation according to the rules of the English language  Use of the dictionary   Skills to:  Find words in the dictionary according to meaning of the context in which it is located.  Practice with minimal pairs (pairs of words that are the same except for one sound)  Discriminate the different sounds of the letters either in the plural or the past simple.

Syllabus  Attitudes to:  Give the correct intonation of the sentence according to the purpose the person has to speak.  Overcoming fear to utter incorrectly by constant practice.  Practice good spelling habits.   REQUIREMENT OF THE COURSE:  - The participant must accomplish on time and mandatory on the scheduled dates, with the evaluation criteria, such as attendance, homework, exercises, assignments, partial and final project, which will be assessed by the instructor of the course.  - Classes will be started on time with students who are present in the classroom.  -Assignment is delivered only on schedule; work submitted at a later date will not be accepted.  - In each assignment, research, chat, forum, workshop, final paper or other academic activity, the spelling will be evaluated.  - The final project must adjust to the diagram provided by the teacher. The teacher is a guide and facilitator in the methodological development.  - It is an obligation of the professor require their students academically, according to the objectives and own performance during the development of the class.  - A student who is found to have plagiarized a paper by another classmate or who have downloaded Internet, presenting it as his own, will not receive final assessment and lose the course.  -All work, projects, hands-on labs must be published in the virtual platform (http://virtual.oteima.ac.pa).  -Students should dress appropriately and keep respect, courtesy and consideration in their dealings with their classmates, professors and staff of the university.  In the classroom, it is prohibited:  -Smoking or eating.  -Using cell phones and / or any other electronic device such as iPod, CD, Mp3, Mp4, iphone, radios, tape recorders, etc.  -The use of caps, flip flops, shorts, low cut blouses, miniskirts, tight fitting clothes or any clothing that fight against morality and decency of this university.

Reflective Journal  Helping students to accomplish their goals is not only relevant but also imperative at the moment of delivering instructions and advices in learning a language different from our native ones. For that reason, there are four elements I always recommend to get additional information and training from.  First, web pages such as Facebook, eblioteca.org and VK (a Russian-based social networking page) contain large information about how they can get better.
  • 20. Reflective Journal  Another fundamental tools are MOOC’s (Massive Open Online Courses) We need to make sure that we are always trained in the latest tendencies of our specialty. MOOC´s are a very economical alternative to maintain ourselves up-to-date. But above all, their fundamental advantage is that they are self-paced. Which means that we do not need to enroll on specific dates, instead we can start the course whenever we want, at the time we want and at any place we are. Likewise, most of them are available in English or Spanish, so the language barrier is not an obstacle to keep growing.
  • 21. Final Reflection  The practicum is an experience that grant us to receive feedback from other colleagues. It allowed me to meet and encounter several new tools I did not know. These instruments will allow me to improve my methodology. In addition, it permitted me to experiment, try and apply new classroom activities that will allow our students to think out of the box.  In regard the course what I like the most is the challenge to develop appealing methods The only recommendation I have is to better explain some of the aspects of the final project that were not clear just by reading the instructions or the material posted online.
