WHAT ARE
STATISTICS?
The term "statistics" comes from the Latin "status", which means
the position, state of phenomena. The words "stato" (state),
"statista" (statistician, connoisseur of the state), "statistiks"
(statistics - a certain amount of knowledge, information about
the state) arose from the root of this word. This term has existed
for a century, although its meaning has repeatedly changed.
This is a science that studies the size, dimensions and
quantitative side of mass social phenomena in an inextricable
connection with the qualitative side of these phenomena,
with their socio-economic content.
3. 3
Statistical theory is a general teaching about the dimensions of social phenomena and
statistical indicators that characterize them. It also includes the study of relationships
between statistical indicators of development, changes in the content and form of
statistical indicators.
What does the scientific
system of statistics consist of?
Statistical methodology is a set of statistical research methods. It develops
the issue of gathering summaries about the dimensions of social phenomena,
studying the relationships between values
and dynamics, principles and
methods of statistical data analysis.
4. MATHEMATICAL
STATISTICS
This is a branch of mathematical knowledge. It develops rational
methods (methods) of systematization, processing and analysis of data
of statistical observations of mass phenomena with the aim of
establishing their characteristic statistical regularities, using them for
scientific and practical conclusions.
5
GENERAL THEORY
OF STATISTICS
It contains the principles of statistical science in relation to various aspects of
social life, that is, the general rules and methods of statistical research. It
develops the conceptual apparatus of statistical science, a system of categories,
considers in a general way the methods of collecting, summarizing, summarizing
and analyzing statistical data.
5. SOCIAL STATISTICS
The field of statistics, which studies the quantitative
and qualitative aspects of mass social phenomena
and processes occurring in social life, and
develops an integrated system of indicators of the
implementation of social processes and
phenomena.
ECONOMIC STATISTICS
As a branch of the unified statistical science, based on the
provisions of the general theory of statistics, it studies the
quantitative side of mass social phenomena and processes
in the field of material production in order to identify the
proportions of trends and patterns of their development.
INDUSTRY STATISTICS
They study the indicators of the production process in
the branches of material production (agriculture,
industry), in the branches where the production
process continues in the sphere of circulation (trade,
communication, transport, etc.); performance
indicators of non-production sectors (housing and
communal services, science, physical culture and
sports, etc.).
