PLANET 50-50 STEP IT UP FOR GENDER EQUALITY
"Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender
Equality" asks governments to make national
commitments to address the challenges
that are holding women and girls back from
reaching their full potential.
To achieve planet 50-50, there should be a focus on
advancing individuals, as opposed to fulfilling gender
quotas in the workplace; women should be judged based
on their individuality, not gender. - http://venturesafrica.com/
PLANET 50-50 STEP IT UP FOR GENDER EQUALITY
The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has
allocated Six Million Naira (N6,000,000.00) for the budget line -
Implementation of Planet 50:50 By 2030.
How are our Legislatures Stepping It for Gender Equality?
SB 282: National Hospital for Women and Children,
Abuja (Est, etc.) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2016
SB 37: Women Empowerment and Gender
Equality Bill, 2015
Just 2 Bills out of over 1,300 Bills since the 8th
Assembly started June 9, 2015 touched on
Female, Women, Girls
PLANET 50-50 THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT:
Passing new laws or strengthening existing ones is one
way to Step It Up. Other actions might include creating
programmes to eradicate violence against women and
girls, encouraging women's participation in decision-
making, investing in national action plans or policies for
gender equality, creating public education campaigns
to promote gender equality, and many more.
