Millennials have a reputation for
being fickle, entitled, and moving
from one company to the next.
But regardless of what you feel
about them,
it is a fact of life that they will soon
grow up, enter the work force, and
might even be a part of your
company. So how do you motivate
and encourage them so they can live
up to their potential? Here are some
nifty tips from team building
Sydney experts.

for Motivating Millennials in
Your Team
Give them plenty of trust,
autonomy,and creative freedom
Millennials are said to change jobs
more often than most. However,
this doesn’t necessarily mean that
they have no direction or they
don’t know loyalty.
It is because in most cases, they
have no patience for systems that
prevent them from unleashing their
creativity and ability to innovate.
As such, to motivate millennials in
your team, make sure to provide
them with a work environment
where they are free to innovate
and make their own decisions.
Give them the flexibility to perform
in a way that allows them to live up
to their potential. And as much as
possible, do not micromanage them
because it is one of the best ways to
scare them off.
Let them know what you think
Although millennials crave freedom
and flexibility, they also want to
know if they are doing things
properly. As such, you should
provide them frequent feedback.
Not only will this allow them to
know what you think about their
performance, it also gives them
accountability for every action or
decision they make. When giving
feedback, ensure that they are
constructive but without sugar
coating anything
Be authentic
Millennials value colleagues that
are authentic and treat each other
with respect. They trust
supervisors they can easily
approach and relate with. As such,
you should never try hard to
impress them. Just be yourself.
If you are out of touch with
millennial culture, don’t be
ashamed of yourself. Instead, you
should just embrace it and not try
too hard to fit in with your younger
team mates or employees. Believe it
or not, they will like you more for it.
Focus more on relationships than
on structure
Make the effort to bridge the gap
between millennials and their older
co-workers and supervisors. You can
do it by implementing an open office
plan instead of having cubicles in
your workplace.
You can also provide them with
more opportunities to socialise
with each other through social and
team building events.
Always remember that millennials
like to build strong interpersonal
relationships with their colleagues.
As such, be sure to get rid of
any barrier that will prevent
them from building meaningful
relationships with other people.
Have Fun
Make it fun
Because millennials often consider
their jobs as an extension of their
social community, you should try to
create a work culture that
embraces fun.

building event, for instance, you
should make it fun and innovative,
