Dr. Hanling was selected as Specialty Advisor to the Navy Surgeon General (2013), providing worldwide leadership of pain medicine community, personnel management and related GME for Navy Medicine. Appointed Navy leader of the Defense and Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Management (2013) responsible for deployment of innovative pain care strategies to support combat wounded and development of the joint VA/DOD Joint Pain Education Program (JPEP) curriculum for primary care teams.
