in driving safety & quality in their own areas
• To develop an understanding of methods of
continuous improvement
• To experience the learning of being involved in an
improvement project

• 2012/13 – 77 participants, 22 mentors
and 29 projects
The SQE Programme: content
9 month duration
3 compulsory elements:

•Participate in a team service improvement project

• Falls reduction in Care of the Elderly
• Medicines Reconciliation in Surgery

• Reduction of unallocated cases in Ards Gateway team
• Excessive surgical fasting times
• Improving VTE risk assessment through post take ward-round
checklist
• Pain management in cognitively impaired patients
• Service user engagement with vulnerable adults to improve
outcomes
