Checklists are not just for… anymore
The number one reason peopledo not use checklist is that theythink theyare too smart or good
• The Checklist Manifesto focuses on
the use of checklists in relation to
several elements of daily and
professional life.
• Too often the simple missed step
can spell disaster or unnecessary
mistakes
• Business Processescan be simply be
sets of checklists - remindersof best
practices and lessons learned

OKR’s Measure What Matters, Notwhat Doesn't
Objectivesand KeyResultsare an increasingly popular methodof goal setting and tracking, even though it has been
around for almost 50 years
• Legendary venture capitalist John Doerr reveals
how the goal-setting system of helped tech giants
from Intel to Google achieve explosive growth—
and how it can help any organization thrive.
• Goal Setting and Tracking is its most simple, and
effective, form of stategic alignment
• If it is simple people can and will use it, I use it for
defining strategic intent and the
• Each has timebound measurable outcomes to know
when you get there or if you are one the right path

Agile For Best Practices in Projects
Based on The Agile Manifesto the Methods are Rooted in what I learned as Extreme Programming 20+ years ago
• eXtreme Programming methodology moved me
away from waterfall project management - It
defined for me 2 principles
a) backlog of requirementswith A-B-C priority
b) not everything needs to be defined up front
• I started calling this Just-In-Time design
• Agile Manifesto formalized backlogs defined by
User Stories, and with user stories effort scored
as Story Points - not man-hours
• Story Points used for effort estimates in
comparison to other stories and considers team
velocity, not individual hours

Agile based Feature Customization Stories
Userstories are written by or for users or customers to influence the functionality of the systembeing developed.
• As a <stakeholder>
• I want to <do something>
• So that <value statement>
• I know it works when <acceptance test>
• Based on successful applications of
Agile User Stories … with
enhancement and simplification
• Captures project requirements as
OKRs as outline for story back-log
aligned to product setup and
customization settings – and a test
• User Story is an informal, natural
language description of one or
more features of a software
system. User stories are often
written from the perspective of
an end user or user of a system.
