2. Before You Create Your Custom Facebook App
You need to know what type of Strutta promotion site you’ll be launching. Compare site type features.
There are four site types to choose from when
launching a contest or sweepstakes: two Facebook
options and two web-based options. Select the
channel that will best serve your campaign goals
and engage your community.
The settings required for a Custom Facebook
App differ in each promotion site type with
Strutta. This guide is for a Strutta iframe site
only. You can check which site type you are
using in the General > Basics section of your
Strutta builder.
Website embed (iframe)
Launch a HTML iframe that is embedded directly
within a page of your website. This option is ideal if
you’re looking to drive traffic to your website, keep
full website navigation and maintain space. The
iframe is 720 pixels wide.

3. In Your Strutta Builder
Your Strutta Power Promos Builder is accessible at http://my.strutta.com
To connect your Strutta promotion site with a Custom
Facebook App, you must first connect your Facebook account
to Strutta.
You will be directed to ‘Connect’ in Step three below. You can
access this page manually in the Facebook Manager section of
your Account Dashboard.
In Your Promotion Builder:
Integration > Facebook > Facebook Page
1. Select your Facebook Page from the list.
2. Click ‘Add your Facebook Page’ if it’s not listed.
3. You will then be asked to ‘connect’ with your
Facebook page
Integration > Facebook > Facebook App
1. Tick the box ‘Let participants login with Facebook’
2. Click ‘Custom App’
3. Click ‘Add your custom Facebook App’
4. You will be directed to the Facebook Manager section

4. Setting Up Your Custom Facebook App
You’ll be directed to the Facebook Manager section of your Account Dashboard from your promotion
Builder to set up your custom Facebook App.
Follow the steps 1-4 listed in this section and
remember to save your settings.
Again, your Facebook account must be
connected to Strutta in order for your custom
Facebook Apps to appear here (you can verify
this in the Facebook Manager section of your
Account Dashboard).
After you have created the custom app in
Facebook, the app will become available for you
to add.
1. Click refresh if you don’t see it listed.
2. Select the App from the list
3. Copy and paste the app secret from
Facebook Developers
4. Save your settings

5. In Facebook Developers
Go to Facebook Developers > Apps at http://developers.facebook.com
The Set Up
1. Click ‘Apps’ + Create New App” button (top
left).
2. Enter your ‘App Display Name’. This should
be the name of your promotion.
3. App Namespace: This will be part of your
promotion URL.
4. Enter the category as ‘Apps for Pages’
5. Complete the security check.

Note: [YOUR_PROMO_ID] is the number assigned to your Strutta promotion. Find it in your campaign’s URL in the
Strutta builder or in the Facebook Manager > Set Up Custom App section.

6. • App ID: This is your App’s unique Facebook App ID.
• App Secret: Take note of this value to connect your custom Facebook App with your
Strutta promotion
Basic Info
• App Display Name: Your App’s name. Example: ‘Enter to Win’
• App Namespace: This will be part of the promotion URL
• Contact Email: For important communication related to your app.
• App Domain: strutta.com

Here are the basic settings for your Custom Facebook App when launching an iframe site with Strutta.
Basic Settings > Add Platform:
• Click the ‘Add Platform’ option
A pop-up menu will display, you will need to
select two platforms for your Canvas App
settings.
• Select the ‘Website’ icon
• Select the ‘Page Tab’ icon
You can only choose one platform at a time so
the ‘Add platform’ button needs to be selected
three times.
Selecting these three options will expand
additional settings which are outlined on the
next page.

8. Website > Site URL
• htttp://iframe-YOUR_PROMO_ID].strutta.com
Website > Mobile URL: N/A - Leave Blank
Page Tab > Page Tab Name
• Your Page Tab Name should be short & relevant. It will
appear on your Facebook Page.
Page Tab URL:
• http://iframe-[YOUR_PROMO_ID].strutta.com/facebook/tab

Secure Page Tab URL:
• https://iframe-[YOUR_PROMO_ID].strutta.com/facebook/tab
Settings > Basic > Page Tab Width
• Select: Standard (810 px)

Page Tab Image:
Upload a custom image that is 75 x 75 exactly.
This image will appear in the App permissions
dialogue & search results.

9. Facebook App Details Settings
* All custom Facebook Apps must include a link to a Privacy Policy and the
Terms of Service.
* You can use Strutta’s Privacy Policy & Terms of Service or provide your
own.
* Facebook apps that do not include these two URL’s may be removed by
Facebook.
The settings outlined above are the only details that need to be filled
in this section.

10. Facebook Status & Review
• By default the Custom Facebook App will be in sandbox
mode while you create it.
• Please ensure sandbox mode in the Custom App settings is
disabled before launching your promotion
• Learn more about sandbox mode here.
Your Custom App has now been set up. Please refer back to
page 4 of this guide on how to add your custom app to your
Strutta promotion.

• Your Public info (Mandatory)
• Your e-mail address (Mandatory)
• Your likes (Only if you set
Mandatory Liking)
• Your photos (Only if you are
running a photo contest)
* Strutta will never automatically post
to a users Timeline.
