Course Description: Students are going to develop their four language skills:
listening with comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Speaking and
listening skills are in focus. Thus, students will have the opportunity to develop
the skills necessary for participating in classroom discussions after an
introduction to oral presentation and practical listening.
OBJECTIVES
• The student will use grammatical structures consistent with intermediate
level.
• The student will participate in classroom discussion, express opinions and
be understood by attentive listeners.
• The student will continue to develop oral communication skills including
fluency, idea sequencing, accuracy, vocabulary and pronunciation.

• The student will participate in role-playing, simulating social and academic
situations (giving advice, expressing feeling obligations, necessity,
permission and drawing conclusions).
• The student will ask informational questions and ask for clarification.
• The students will prepare oral presentations on familiar topics that will
enable them to engage in meaningful conversation and cultural exchange
with partners in a variety of settings.
• The student will follow orally expressed multi-step directions appropriate
to the level.
• The student will understand factual information and respond appropriately
to comprehension questions.
Teaching Methods: presentations, class discussion, computer assisted learning;
collaborative activities, computerized data, and others.
Course Requirements: In addition to the class time you are required to
prepare/practice a conversation outside at class with a partner for a minimum of
5 minutes.
Attendance Policy: Please arrive on time. You should attend all classes in order
to obtain the most complete educational experience of this course.
COURSE POLICIES:
• Electronic Devices: Cellular phones should be turned off.
• Attendance is expected.
• Learning a new language requires practice and class participation is
mandatory.
• English must be spoken at all times.
