Back in the old days, before Social Media when we journos relied on our little black books (see mine pictured) it was very much a case of “I’m here, you’re there let me tell you about it” Correspondents in the field reported the news and we at home sat and received it. We – and officials – were the gatekeepers of information. Press conferences were well managed, embargoes imposed and everything delivered at a pre appointed time and place. We were guardians of sacred facts but things started to change with the advent of social media.
