- 25. The Present We have amazing Maps. But they are static, they have no real-time data, they don‘t self-heal.
- 26. The Present We have an amazing Routing. But it does not know about the ice in that dangerous corner.
- 27. The Present Every car (and cow) is a sensor array, generating a constant stream of amazing location data. But we have no good way of using that data, creating new insights and applications.

- 29. She was also wrong. Current location technology is still amazing. But it is not ready to build the Future™. And we need amazing location intelligence to build the future.
- 30. What do we need?
- 31. First, we need a map. A better map. A 3D, real-time, high-definition, self- healing representation of the world around us.
- 32. Second, we need data. But more and better data. Data from vehicles, data from infrastructure, data from people, data from things and data from cows.
- 33. Third, we need a platform. Infrastructure and marketplace to connect maps, location data, location services and enable developers, data consumers, data producers.
- 34. Fourth, developers, developers, de..you get the idea. We can only build the future with such a platform, if its powerful tools and amazing data are available to developers.

- We have great maps, but they don‘t know about washed away costal roads, construction, pot holes. At least not immediately. Why doesn‘t it learn automatically about lane closures, new speed limits (temporary or otherwise).
- Of course, the current map & location tools are still pretty cool
- If current location technology isn‘t quite up to snuff, what do we need. How does our perfect imaginary location technology look like?
- But more than this. We need HD maps. We need live maps. We need real-time maps. We need a Reality Index™.
- A geocoder is a useful tool. It will remain a useful tool. But how do I connect the geocoder to the stream of data coming in from my things? How do I connect my map to the cars, so it can self-heal? How do I get location data I don‘t have? How do I find users for my location data? How do I do analytics on my data? How do I as a developer access all this data, these services? We need a thriving location ecosystem.
- We can only build the future with such a platform, if it‘s powerful tools and data are available to developers.
