Ratan Tata unveiled the Tata Nano, India's smallest and cheapest car, at the 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi in January 2008. The Nano will have a starting price of 100,000 rupees and will seat 4-5 people. It will have a 623cc engine, meet Bharat Stage-III emission norms, and is expected to achieve a fuel efficiency of 23 km per liter. Several other automakers are developing rival small cars, and the Nano's success could significantly impact India's automobile and two-wheeler industries.
