1. Current projects of Steven Ray Wilson Here are some of the projects I am involved in. Drug discovery projects are still in progress and/or top secret ; will give more details when patented and published!
2. Current projects: Separation of proteins with open tubular columns We are interested in performing sensitive, top-down proteomics, with low carry-over. We have seen that open tubular (OT) columns work for this purpose. Currently, we are developing automated OT based methods. Zoom-in of column inside. (J. Chrom. A, 2010)
3. Current projects: HILIC separation of nucleotides Nucleotides are difficult to analyze We have developed a simple method for analysis, that only requires LC-UV instrumentation The heart of the system is two HILIC columns connected in series Nucleotide separation, 0.5-5 ug/mL. (Manuscript submitted)
4. Current projects: clog-free automated SPE-LC Although the time saved can be enormous, labs are skeptical to automated extraction-separation systems We have designed an no-clog system. No pressure build-up after hundreds of injections All you need is an extra valve, and the cheapest isocratic pump you can find. (Manuscript in preparation.)
5. Current projects: on-line trypsin column Trypsination of proteins can be time taking (4-12 h) We are developing columns for trypsination within seconds A long term goal is to make protein separation and identification fast and automatable Zoom-in of open column coated with trypsin (project in progress)
6. Other projects Drug target discovery (using nano LC-MS) 2D-LC of hydrophilic substances Sterolomics Peak capacity testing of silica monolith nano-columns Etc. Students H. Hustoft, M. Rogeberg, K. Opsal and E. Johnsen have done most of the hands-on work.
