Paracetamol, Marijuana, Aspirin, Cocaine, Heroin... all these fancy words, what are they all, Yes
they are drugs all different types of drugs. All of which have a different affect on our body, OK
some more then others but they all do the same, change the way the body reacts. Before i continue
let me introduce my self. My name is Muhammad Mulla and i would like to thank all of you for
coming today to educate yourself towards drugs and there effect.
Let me start of by telling you about drugs in general, drugs are chemical substances which have an
effect on your body. There are 2 types of drugs Illegal and legal, legal drugs are ones such as

Also you may get memory loss.
Marijuana can distort perception which may leave you unable to hear properly, see properly and
may make you lose track of time, also it can make you feel anxiety, fear, distrust and make you panic.
Cocaine changes numerous aspects of the body it can dilate your pupils, increase body temperature
and increase heart rate and blood pressure. In the long term it can cause irregular heart attacks, chest
pain and cause severe strokes.
Heroin – personally i think this is the worst out of the 4, because it can stop you breathing and can
kill you instantly. That is it, there is nothing much more about heroin.
Well now that you know the effects of these drugs do you think you'll be taking these drugs? Well
i'll tell you now i certainly wouldn't be. I think the best way to prevent any of this happening is to
not do it at all and stick to the legal drugs that can cure illnesses.
That's it thats the end of my speech i hope you all have more understanding and an increased
knowledge of drugs and i hope you choose the right path for you

Essay on Determination
Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your
endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on
wisdomforthesoul.org, "Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination."
Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person's efforts.
Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly
determined, a person must first be passionate about what they're doing. Passion, however, is only the
first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to
do anything to achieve said goal. Once they have set...show more content...
(www.merriam–webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination.
When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under
the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as
it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its
destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go
to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to
join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always
been my mindset, and there's no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical
train, because my destination is set, and there's no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not
stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my
endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my
goal, but when one's mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I.
Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When one
is determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the path
may be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to always

Feminism Essay examples
Feminism
Feminism is the belief that women should have economic political and social equality with men.
This term also refers to a political movement that works to gain equality within a male and female
relationship. In a male and female relationship both the roles of the male and female should be
equal. Equal in many ways ten one: they should trust each other, share responsibilities, listen to one
another, respect each other, and of course love one another equally.
This type of relationship is not found now a days because of the many traditions which imply that
women are inferior to men. They also imply that women should stay home all day watching soap
operas, taking care of the children, and making the food for their tired husbands...show more

"Nagging wives" have always been a problem with husbands. The thought of marriage frightens
many people because of the "nagging wife" this has been passed on from generation to generation.
The many stories told by the very own family members of the husband and the wife arguing all day
long. Marriage, today, is not considered in many times a happy thing, some people think that there is
nothing to look forward, in most cases because men think that women will change on them and start
"nagging" at everything.
Many times in life men do not think that women can do the same things that they can; whether it's
picking up boxes or being president. There will always be that "macho man" thought of the man
being stronger than the woman. In many jobs women might do the exact same thing that men do
except men are getting paid more than women even if it is an insignificant amount, it happens in
many places and even though many people disapprove of it there are still jobs like that out there.
And there are still employers who think that a woman should not be in the work force if so home.
Many feminist have been working to solve this problem and there are still people who are working
to solve and change many more of these problems, and even though in some places it doesn't seem
like it, feminism and feminists

When we are communicating verbally with a client we have to remain polite, calm and focused, this
is so messages don't get misinterpreted and the progress of the conversation will be successful.
Open communication
Open communication usually happens in the first few minutes when meeting a person because first
impressions are really important for the progress of the rest of the conversation. We as individuals
tend to have our own way of communicating with people and expectations of how an initial meeting
should be. When these interpersonal expectations are not to the standards of the individual there
will be a clash and the conversation will not work out as effectively as it would if the personal
expectations were met.
When meeting the client for the first time you have to create a positive atmosphere, this is so it is
easier to build up a rapport with your client. You have to remember to keep it formal and to use
appropriate body language for instance, using a handshake and remaining eye contact whilst
keeping a warm smile on your face when greeting your client, will help your client to feel
comfortable around you. You should start your conversation on a neutral subject e.g. asking service
user how their journey was to meet you; this will be a good conversation starter because this is
more likely to encourage you and the client to want to carry on your conversation positively, than
for you to have a blank facial

In recent years, the use of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels to generate electricity has
become an important topic of discussion around the world. As there are numerous drawbacks to
using fossil fuels, such as global warming and air pollution, some people suggest that it is high time
considering generating electricity by renewable energy on a large scale. Renewable energy mainly
includes sunlight, wind, tides, waves, biomass and geothermal heat. In 2012 and 2013, renewable
energy contributed 22 percent to our global electricity generation (Renewable Energy Policy
Network for the 21st Century, 2014) and this shows that renewable energy only provides a small
part of electricity generation. In this essay, both the advantages and disadvantages of using
renewable energy to generate electricity will be discussed. The essay will demonstrate that despite
the disadvantages of using renewable energy, its development is an unavoidable trend because our

rapid increase of temperature if we keep emitting greenhouses gases (Slezak, 2014). As the

rise in sea level. Governments all over the world are trying to alleviate global warming and the use
of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels is one of the solutions. Regarding to the energy crisis,
the exhaustion of fossil fuels will be a challenge to the world in the future (Hook & Tang, 2013). In
order to prevent this foreseeable situation, governments will put more effort into supporting the
development of renewable energy. As a result, both global warming and energy crisis are the
momentum to make the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy

Snow Leopard Essay
The Snow Leopard is an almost mythical animal. It is rarely seen and people believe that it is the
guardian of the mountains. It is a symbol for some countries and it is often regarded as one of the
most beautiful creatures that grace the earth. In the wild there are between 3,500 and 7,000.
(Bailey, Jill) This number is not exact because Snow Leopards are very elusive and live in remote,
harsh environments. In the zoos across the world there are about 600 Snow Leopards. (Bailey, Jill)
The Snow Leopard lives for the most part in the high mountains of Central Asia. (Saving the Snow
Leopard) They live in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia,
Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. (Scherer,...show more content...
They often leave them alone and are more scared of humans than we are of them However,
people often attempt to kill snow leopards because in regions such as Nepal, snow leopards feast
on peoples livestock. The snow leopard is an ideal hunter in its environment. It blends in well
with the snow. It can move quickly, and stealthily. The snow leopard is a true wonder to behold.
Snow leopards beauty has caused problems for them. Snow Leopards are often poached for their
pelts. These pelts are sought on the black market in Russia, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe.
Snow Leopard bones are often used in Asian medicine. (Saving the Snow Leopard) Most of the
poachers are often local people who need to make money. Humans can also indirectly harm snow
leopards. When we overdevelop we can eliminate some of the snow leopard's habitat. The snow
leopards prey can become scarce if we destroy the prey's source of food. Humans can make a
difference yet the situation is a tricky one. The snow leopard goes from country to country. This
makes it difficult to enforce poaching laws. In order to keep the snow leopard around people
must enforce the laws and let the snow leopards live their lives. The snow leopard is rarely seen.
There is limited footage of it. In order to help keep the snow leopard around we must first try to
understand it better. Snow Leopards are generally solitary. The exception is when females are

Thesis Statement For Teen Suicide
Research Question:
How can teen suicide be prevented?
Thesis Statement:
Even though teen suicide is one of the leading causes of deaths in teenagers, there are many ways it
can be prevented.
Summary of Topic:
Suicide is the third leading cause of deaths in adolescents in the United States. Teensuicide is also
often referred to as a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Teens so often are suicidal and
attempt suicide as a call for help from others. They have no intention in dying they are just trying to
cry out for help from anyone that will listen. Many reasons cause teen to attempt suicide, varying
from bullying to psychological disorders. In fact, psychological disorders accounts for about 90%
of teens who attempt or commit suicide. Teenagers are also at higher risk of suicide when they are

Teen suicide is something that is endless, it will never stop but if everyone was educated on it, it
could help prevent deaths. I think with people provided with statistics and further information
can help avoid adolescent suicide attempts. I think most teen suicide cases could be prevent if we
knew the signs to look for and the ways to stop it. I believe parents would feel safer if they knew
knowledge on the issue and how to handle it. The intended audiences for this essay is parents or
friends of suicidal teens. This essay is important because, as mentioned earlier, we need to be
educated on suicide to end tons of tragedies. It is also important to be aware of the warning signs
to help prevent. This essay is relevant because teen suicide is a war that happens daily, and will
continue to happen, until we take control of the situation and do something to stop it. If family
members were informed of the cause and symptoms leading up to the attempt of suicide, then there
is less likely that teenagers would try and commit

Perseverance Essay
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a
measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success.
As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The
goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to
forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed.
We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve
personal success is now. With this urgency comes the expectation of having to persevere. This year

There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once
said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is
the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted
out.
Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it
to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels
you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake
you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the
bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what
perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all
things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the
steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were divorced, but it seems like both parents
divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She
gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle
school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was evident that it required
self–motivation and determination.

In a paragraph, write your idea of self–reliance. Do you agree or disagree with Emerson? Why?
My idea of self–reliance is relying on one's self to perform a task. Also to be an individual, not to
have to worry about relying on anyone else. Emerson made some great points that being self–reliant
is important. This is important because you don't want to have to ever rely on someone else.
Sometimes the only person you can rely on is yourself which is important because no one should
have to rely on anyone else. 9. Describe Emerson's style of writing. Find one sentence that is an
example of this style. In your description, focus on his tone and purpose – see the following hint for

word choice to convey a tone or attitude, the structure of sentences (for example, question or
statement), and sentence and paragraph length, for starters.

Persuasive Narrative Essay
It was my last memory from my class at Meadowbrook, the school's right of passage at the end of
the 8th grade year: ziplining in Costa Rica. I felt my stomach tighten as I took a step up to the
first platform, took one last deep breath, and jumped. The violent, Costa Rican air whipped
around me, spinning my body in a circle like a helicopter blade. I tirelessly squeezed the
handlebar with the rough, sandpaper gloves like my life depended on it. Ironically, at the time, I
thought it did. I was mortified. After helplessly spinning around for about a minute, I crashed into
the end of the line and nervously unhooked my harness. One down, seven to go. The next line
began similarly to the first one. I leaped off the platform hesitantly, but the wind had died down
and I was able to relax. I gazed across the seemingly endless lush, green landscapes of the Costa
Rican mountain ranges in awe. Still choke holding the handlebar, I was not comfortable in the
slightest. I left the third platform just a second quicker feeling slightly more secure in the
harness. This time, I released the handlebar, leaving my doubts and worries behind. I was about
as content as I could possibly be given the circumstances, dangling thousands of feet up in the air
in the mountains, supported by a jaded wooden rope an inch in diameter. Two summers ago, I
trotted onto the 18th green, up one stroke in the tournament. It felt incredible, all my hard work
was finally going to pay off. I had a 2 foot putt with no break, a putt I could make a million times
over in my sleep. I placed my hands onto my putter as they gradually started to shake and tremble.
I felt my stomach tighten as I realized this "gimme" putt was nothing I could have ever prepared
for. I was ready to get my first tournament win. My hands still wavering, I brought the putter
straight back and through. It felt like an eternity as my ball inched closer and closer toward the
hole. But instead of reveling in the clink as the ball hit the bottom of the hole, the ball took a left
hand turn, hit the edge of the cup, and settled a measly inch or two from the hole. I tapped in and
walked away, devastated that I had just lost the tournament. It was as if my countless hours of
preparation had

the students did not see eye to eye, they all had many things in common: they were all in gangs; they

Upon realizing all of the similarities between each student, Mrs. "G" then began to strive for her

or "How many of you have seen Boyz n the hood?" but as the game goes on she begins to ask
more serious questions like "How many of you have lost a friend to gang violence?" when every
single student steps up to the line for each question they begin to realize that beneath their race their

Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up..
"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up."
–AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do
'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally
'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of
what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what
it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off
the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting.

we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh
because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than
ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to
become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it
any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it.

Essay on A Speech on Bullying
Good Morning/Afternoon fellow class mates, the issue that I have come to share and talk about with
you today is Bullying. It is all around us, everyone bullies, no matter what you think or have done,
you've most likely bullied someone.
There are many issues in the news that involve bullying and bad things that happen, aswell as people
being affected from people bullying them.
Bullying is happening everywhere and the chances that you will encounter it are high. Around the
world bullying is big particularly within schools and online in cyber space.
With all schools talking about bullying and the media regularly reporting on latest research, it could
seem like we're in a bullying epidemic. But, it's not all bad – the incidence of...show more content...
Children who were frequently bullied by their peers were more likely to develop psychotic
symptoms in their early adolescence, says more UK research.
Girls were much more likely than boys to be victims of both cyber and traditional bullying, says a
recent Murdoch Children's Research Institute study.
Young people who bully have a one in four chance of having a criminal record by the age of 30.
Bullying is the fourth most common reason young people seek help from children's help services
Our culture emphasizes a mentality that encourages dominance and aggression. Extreme bullying,
often using sexual slurs such as "gay, fag, slut and whore," is becoming a common experience for
students of all ages, and in particular, for children aged 11–13.
Bullying will stop when individuals protect themselves; when schools create a community of respect.
We now have a society that rewards humiliating and demeaning others. Reality television shows have
judges who use bullying techniques as they assess the contestants. This kind of entertainment
harkens back to ancient times when the public gathered in coliseums to see spectacles, such as
gladiators; who killed their foes.
Why do we like to watch others get hurt, either physically or psychologically?
There are many reasons but the simplest explanation is that most people identify with the winner,
and they feel better about themselves; as if they had won.

An Introduction to Globalization Essay
Globalization is a historical phenomenon that has been happening for decades now, and whether it
generates growth or not is a matter of whose point of view it is. The western countries, especially
America and some European nations, are the ones taking full advantage of the benefits of
globalization. On the other hand, some experts say that globalization is not doing much for the
developing countries, or that it may be even worsening their scenarios of poverty and social
inequality. But, I will get back to that later . The point is that globalization, while it was primarily
triggered by the emergence of a global market and facilitated by the democratization of
communication technologies, also caused cultural, social and even political...show more content...
We are in the era of free information flow and democratization of communication tools. Through the
Internet, people are able to produce content and distribute it in many different ways to infinite
different people. What is really amazing is that the idea of distance lost its significance. Now, you
are able to communicate from your house in the south of Brazil with friends who live in India,
America or any other place in the world. Messages are overcoming huge distances because of
technological improvements and the implementation of global networks. The third movement is
political. Basically, it means that since globalization implies a compression of national boundaries,
which were brought about by the increase of trade at the global level, the importance of both the
activity of international legal institutions and treats, like the World Trade Organization, and the
dialogue between political leaders of different nations has risen significantly. Also, in the globalized
world we see a quite interesting phenomenon: the importance given by nations' leaders to their
self–image in the international political scene. Think this way: when countries were not dependent
on the businesses they had with other countries why would presidents bother to be admired by other
national leaders? What we see now is a scenario where nations' leaders struggle for status among the
international political elite. The last set

Tomorrow When the War Began- John Marsden Essay
Tomorrow when the war began– John Marsden
Novel essay.
"Tomorrow When The War Began" by John Marsden, is a novel of survival, friendship, love and
war. He uses many language techniques (e.g. simile, metaphor, personification, oxymoron, irony,
symbol, allusion etc.) to get across to the reader the importance of each of the themes discussed. He
also uses these techniques to set the mood in each chapter and to help emphasise each major point in
the novel. "We've learnt a lot and had to figure out what's important– what matters, what really

They must go through a series of challenges to get from point A to point B by stealing vehicles and

Same as when Ellie, Kevin and Corrie blow up the lawnmower, they also blow up soldiers in order
to stay safe for a little while.
Friendship is another major theme in the novel, John Marsden uses this theme to overlap with other
issues like survival and war. The characters of the novel all depend on those around them for help
and support in everything they do. Friendship provides people with strength, hope and love, and all
these things help a person overcome tragedies, death, and moments when it seems life isn't worth
living. An example from the novel would be when Corrie's house is blown up, she is devastated
and it is only with the support of the others that she can continue. A real life issue about friendship
/love and survival would be the incident with the Beaconsfield miners. The miners were sure they
would die, but with the thought in there heads of family and friends outside waiting for there
arrival, they continued on battling for there lives, relying only on the support of loved ones. When

Ella Fitzgerald
Singer. Born April 25, 1917, in Newport News, Virginia. (Though many biographical sources give
her birth date as 1918, her birth certificate and school records show her to have been born a year
earlier.) Often referred to as the "first lady of song," Fitzgerald enjoyed a career that stretched over
six decades. With her lucid intonation and a range of three octaves, she became the preeminent jazz
singer of her generation, recording over 2,000 songs, selling over 40 million albums, and winning 13
Grammy Awards, including one in 1967 for Lifetime Achievement.
As a young girl growing up in Yonkers, just outside New York City, Fitzgerald loved music and
dreamed of being a dancer. She and a friend, Charles Gulliver,...show more content...
She began to work with an improvisational style of singing called "scat," or "bop," singing, based
on the complex, spontaneous instrumental style of Dizzy Gillespie. In 1945, Fitzgerald recorded a
scat version of "Flying Home," which became one of the most influential vocal jazz records of the
decade.
While on tour with Gillespie's band in 1946, Fitzgerald met and fell in love with the bassist Ray
Brown, whom she married in 1947. (She had been previously married to Benjamin Kornegay, a
shipyard worker, but their two–year marriage was annulled in 1943.) Fitzgerald and Brown were
divorced in 1952, but they continued to perform together in Brown's own jazz combo.
Meanwhile, Fitzgerald had begun to work with Norman Granz, the impresario of a popular series
called "Jazz at the Philharmonic." In 1955, she was the first artist signed to Granz's new record
label, Verve, and began recording a series of "songbook" albums. The first offering, a two–record set
entitled Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook (1956) led to eight other songbooks, each
devoted to the work of a particular composer or composing team: Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, Duke
Ellington, Jerome Kern, Frank Loesser, Johnny Mercer, Rodgers and Hart, and George and Ira
Gershwin. The

Narrative Essay On The Island
"Astoria!" His cries echoed. The bounced off of the long brick corridors and along the panels of
glass that encompassed the walls on his left. "Astoria!!" Fish swam on the other side of the glass
emitting bubbles, as if mocking his pleas. The queen stood across the castle, both hands placed on
the huge cold bricks. Her head hung low leaving about a centimeter of space between her and the
wall. She listened to his calls, each one filled itself with more desperation and urgency than the last.
Yet, Astoria didn't flinch. The castle was huge and, for the most part, built underwater. It was what
most people may refer to as the most city of Atlantis. The only lighting was provided by randomly
placed candles that, after years of use, had layered...show more content...
All at once she turned as if to run but was met with an awed lovestruck gaze. His blue eyes

the stones in the dead silence. They both knew the answer. "Please...." He pleaded with her. She
found herself in hysterics, "I just murdered a friend! And you still can't manage to blame me!"
Her hands flew to her head while she spun in a circle, then they shot back down to her sides.
Draco stood there motionless, hardly ashamed. "He's dead because of me! Can't you see that!?"
She practically hissed, "And I liked it! I would do it again!" She saw advancement in his eyes.
"Please don't come any closer..." She exclaimed with shame. Confusion filled his face before he
took one slow step forward, he obviously didn't get the message. Panicked, Astoria spun around
and ran out of the room and down the nearest hall. Draco's trance broke as he rushed after Astoria,
catching her by the arm and spinning her around. "Would you stop bloody running from me!?"
He snarled. She fought to get free, avoiding eye contact. His grip tightened while he reached to
grab her other arm and hold her steady. "Draco let go!" She pounded on his chest the best she could.
He refused her order, "No." She eventually gave in as her voice broke and her knees betrayed her,

Persuasive Speech On Domestic Violence
ONE STEP TOWARDS JUSTICE:
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Right now, right at this very instant, a silent war all across the nation is being waged. A violation of
humanity, a crime that is least prosecuted, and a great threat endangering the lives of thousands of
women and children daily. Of course, I am talking about harsh reality of domestic violence. We live
in a time where domestic violence is kept a taboo subject, a shameful secret that shouldn't be let out.
We know it's happening, and even hear or see the events. But who's taking action?
I can stand here and give you a list of statistics about this issue, but is that all it is? A statistic?
Sadly enough, people look at this endless crime as just a figure or percentage, we're shocked at first
but nothing more. So today, I am taking the first step, a step towards justice, a step to end the
struggle, and a step to save our nation.
And yes, I'm not anyone special, I don't study the topic, nor am I a survivor of domestic violence
myself. But I'm here to tell a story. I'm here to make a change. And I'm here to encourage all of you
to do the same.
I'm going to share an experience I had. Something that I've regretted and hated myself for since,
knowing that help could've been sought earlier. A few years back, I was catching up with a family
member and noticed a faint bruise on her face. Naturally, I asked her what had happened but she
just brushed it off, told me it was nothing but a sport injury. Weeks progressed, and the bruises
became worse and worse, but I stop questioning. To me, she still seemed the happy go–lucky girl I
knew and loved, the only difference were these markings. But let me tell you, sometimes the people
who seem happiest, are actually hurting the most. And this was exactly the case. Flashforward a few
months, and her partner was being trialled and charged under the case of domestic abuse.
Although there were so many signs, my ignorance restrained me from helping her help herself.
Needless to say, I was absolutely disgusted. And to this day, I still can't even begin the fathom how
anyone could possibly put their hands on someone they loved. To purposely harm their significant
other and act like everything is fine. And to the victims who have to live

  • 2. Essay on Determination Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on wisdomforthesoul.org, "Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination." Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person's efforts. Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly determined, a person must first be passionate about what they're doing. Passion, however, is only the first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to do anything to achieve said goal. Once they have set...show more content... (www.merriam–webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination. When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always been my mindset, and there's no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical train, because my destination is set, and there's no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my goal, but when one's mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I. Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When one is determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the path may be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to always know Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This term also refers to a political movement that works to gain equality within a male and female relationship. In a male and female relationship both the roles of the male and female should be equal. Equal in many ways ten one: they should trust each other, share responsibilities, listen to one another, respect each other, and of course love one another equally. The many stories told by the very own family members of the husband and the wife arguing all day long. Marriage, today, is not considered in many times a happy thing, some people think that there is nothing to look forward, in most cases because men think that women will change on them and start "nagging" at everything. Many times in life men do not think that women can do the same things that they can; whether it's picking up boxes or being president. There will always be that "macho man" thought of the man being stronger than the woman. In many jobs women might do the exact same thing that men do except men are getting paid more than women even if it is an insignificant amount, it happens in many places and even though many people disapprove of it there are still jobs like that out there. And there are still employers who think that a woman should not be in the work force if so home. Many feminist have been working to solve this problem and there are still people who are working to solve and change many more of these problems, and even though in some places it doesn't seem like it, feminism and feminists Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When we are communicating verbally with a client we have to remain polite, calm and focused, this is so messages don't get misinterpreted and the progress of the conversation will be successful. Open communication Open communication usually happens in the first few minutes when meeting a person because first impressions are really important for the progress of the rest of the conversation. We as individuals tend to have our own way of communicating with people and expectations of how an initial meeting should be. When these interpersonal expectations are not to the standards of the individual there will be a clash and the conversation will not work out as effectively as it would if the personal expectations were met. When meeting the client for the first time you have to create a positive atmosphere, this is so it is easier to build up a rapport with your client. You have to remember to keep it formal and to use appropriate body language for instance, using a handshake and remaining eye contact whilst keeping a warm smile on your face when greeting your client, will help your client to feel comfortable around you. You should start your conversation on a neutral subject e.g. asking service user how their journey was to meet you; this will be a good conversation starter because this is more likely to encourage you and the client to want to carry on your conversation positively, than for you to have a blank facial Get more content on HelpWriting.net

As there are numerous drawbacks to using fossil fuels, such as global warming and air pollution, some people suggest that it is high time considering generating electricity by renewable energy on a large scale. Renewable energy mainly includes sunlight, wind, tides, waves, biomass and geothermal heat. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were divorced, but it seems like both parents divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was evident that it required self–motivation and determination. We have all been called upon Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Eventually every person will have to realize that being envious of one another makes you ignorant, and that everyone has imperfections and no one is perfect but everyone at one point must stop comparing themselves to everyone and accept themselves for who they are. 2. Sometimes the only person you can rely on is yourself which is important because no one should have to rely on anyone else. 9. Describe Emerson's style of writing. • 10. Persuasive Narrative Essay It was my last memory from my class at Meadowbrook, the school's right of passage at the end of the 8th grade year: ziplining in Costa Rica. I felt my stomach tighten as I took a step up to the first platform, took one last deep breath, and jumped. The violent, Costa Rican air whipped around me, spinning my body in a circle like a helicopter blade. I tirelessly squeezed the handlebar with the rough, sandpaper gloves like my life depended on it. Ironically, at the time, I thought it did. I was mortified. After helplessly spinning around for about a minute, I crashed into the end of the line and nervously unhooked my harness. One down, seven to go. The next line began similarly to the first one. I leaped off the platform hesitantly, but the wind had died down and I was able to relax. I gazed across the seemingly endless lush, green landscapes of the Costa Rican mountain ranges in awe. Still choke holding the handlebar, I was not comfortable in the slightest. I left the third platform just a second quicker feeling slightly more secure in the harness. This time, I released the handlebar, leaving my doubts and worries behind. I was about as content as I could possibly be given the circumstances, dangling thousands of feet up in the air in the mountains, supported by a jaded wooden rope an inch in diameter. Two summers ago, I trotted onto the 18th green, up one stroke in the tournament. It felt incredible, all my hard work was finally going to pay off. I had a 2 foot putt with no break, a putt I could make a million times over in my sleep. I placed my hands onto my putter as they gradually started to shake and tremble. I felt my stomach tighten as I realized this "gimme" putt was nothing I could have ever prepared for. I was ready to get my first tournament win. My hands still wavering, I brought the putter straight back and through. It felt like an eternity as my ball inched closer and closer toward the hole. But instead of reveling in the clink as the ball hit the bottom of the hole, the ball took a left hand turn, hit the edge of the cup, and settled a measly inch or two from the hole. I tapped in and walked away, devastated that I had just lost the tournament. It was as if my countless hours of preparation had Get more content on HelpWriting.net

"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up." –AmberGrace Seguin Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting. We once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it. Extreme bullying, often using sexual slurs such as "gay, fag, slut and whore," is becoming a common experience for students of all ages, and in particular, for children aged 11–13. Bullying will stop when individuals protect themselves; when schools create a community of respect. We now have a society that rewards humiliating and demeaning others. Reality television shows have judges who use bullying techniques as they assess the contestants. This kind of entertainment harkens back to ancient times when the public gathered in coliseums to see spectacles, such as gladiators; who killed their foes. Why do we like to watch others get hurt, either physically or psychologically? There are many reasons but the simplest explanation is that most people identify with the winner, and they feel better about themselves; as if they had won. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

An Introduction to Globalization Essay Globalization is a historical phenomenon that has been happening for decades now, and whether it generates growth or not is a matter of whose point of view it is. The western countries, especially America and some European nations, are the ones taking full advantage of the benefits of globalization. On the other hand, some experts say that globalization is not doing much for the developing countries, or that it may be even worsening their scenarios of poverty and social inequality. But, I will get back to that later . The point is that globalization, while it was primarily triggered by the emergence of a global market and facilitated by the democratization of communication technologies, also caused cultural, social and even political...show more content... Now, you are able to communicate from your house in the south of Brazil with friends who live in India, America or any other place in the world. Messages are overcoming huge distances because of technological improvements and the implementation of global networks. The third movement is political. Basically, it means that since globalization implies a compression of national boundaries, which were brought about by the increase of trade at the global level, the importance of both the activity of international legal institutions and treats, like the World Trade Organization, and the dialogue between political leaders of different nations has risen significantly. Also, in the globalized world we see a quite interesting phenomenon: the importance given by nations' leaders to their self–image in the international political scene. Think this way: when countries were not dependent on the businesses they had with other countries why would presidents bother to be admired by other national leaders? What we see now is a scenario where nations' leaders struggle for status among the international political elite. The last set Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The miners were sure they would die, but with the thought in there heads of family and friends outside waiting for there arrival, they continued on battling for there lives, relying only on the support of loved ones. • 20. Persuasive Speech On Domestic Violence ONE STEP TOWARDS JUSTICE: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Right now, right at this very instant, a silent war all across the nation is being waged. A violation of humanity, a crime that is least prosecuted, and a great threat endangering the lives of thousands of women and children daily. Of course, I am talking about harsh reality of domestic violence. We live in a time where domestic violence is kept a taboo subject, a shameful secret that shouldn't be let out. We know it's happening, and even hear or see the events. But who's taking action? I can stand here and give you a list of statistics about this issue, but is that all it is? A statistic? Sadly enough, people look at this endless crime as just a figure or percentage, we're shocked at first but nothing more. So today, I am taking the first step, a step towards justice, a step to end the struggle, and a step to save our nation. And yes, I'm not anyone special, I don't study the topic, nor am I a survivor of domestic violence myself. But I'm here to tell a story. I'm here to make a change. And I'm here to encourage all of you to do the same. I'm going to share an experience I had. Something that I've regretted and hated myself for since, knowing that help could've been sought earlier. A few years back, I was catching up with a family member and noticed a faint bruise on her face. Naturally, I asked her what had happened but she just brushed it off, told me it was nothing but a sport injury. Weeks progressed, and the bruises became worse and worse, but I stop questioning. To me, she still seemed the happy go–lucky girl I knew and loved, the only difference were these markings. But let me tell you, sometimes the people who seem happiest, are actually hurting the most. And this was exactly the case. Flashforward a few months, and her partner was being trialled and charged under the case of domestic abuse. Although there were so many signs, my ignorance restrained me from helping her help herself. Needless to say, I was absolutely disgusted. And to this day, I still can't even begin the fathom how anyone could possibly put their hands on someone they loved. To purposely harm their significant other and act like everything is fine. And to the victims who have to live Get more content on HelpWriting.net
