5. • Elluminate live is called eLive at Deakin.
• eLive is a learning technology, a virtual classroom
• A synchronous learning environment that allows real time
interaction
• eLive is a live learning and meeting space allowing group
interaction, collaboration, discussion + problem solving
• Participants can talk + listen, type and draw, divide into
groups, share and work on documents, browse websites

When to use eLive
8. • Access to eLive:
• When teaching, eLive is accessed via DSO unit,
eLive room open 24 hrs a day. Students can enter
and use room to collaborate at any time (but won’t
have moderator status)
• You can also create your own session for meetings
• You can record sessions and provide link to
students
– (This is covered in the Intermediate eLive session, but
email me if you need to know)

9. • eLive offers great flexibility: almost any
teaching and learning activity done in the
classroom can be done in the eLive room
• eLive is suitable for both off-campus and on-
campus students who are unable to attend.
Recording a session provides great flexibility of
access.

• Tools > Audio > Audio Setup Wizard
• Any problems: close eLive window, go into
Control panel and set your headset as default
device
• Encourage exploration if new to eLive
– Try out emoticons – good for feedback
– Try out drawing on whiteboard too

participating in eLive sessions purchase a headset

27. PowerPoint presentations structure the session and guide activities.
Participants can write on blank screens or blank areas of slides, but
cannot make or edit slides.
1. Close the PowerPoint program on your computer
2. Click the “Load a Presentation” button to the left of the whiteboard
3. Choose “after current screen”
4. If you cant see you PowerPoint files, you need to change the default
file type (next slide)

• Choose “PowerPoint files” and your files will now be visible
• Choose from Import Options on the right
• Select your File, click Open
