3. He’s interesting because… He illustrates and he publishes stories He won the Caldecott Medal, American Library association,1995 for Smoky Night. He has a strong passion for writing and music He gets some book ideas from music he likes.

7. What makes him different? Besides being an illustrator and a writer he is a graphic designer, a painter and an accomplished ceramic artist. His famous art paintings and ceramics is currently touring the country. Even when he was in 1st grade he knew he wanted to be a artist but he never knew he would be award winning illustrator.

8. His life is interesting. He gives to the kids not only by the books he writes but by donating. When he does book signing he usually reads to the kids that come. Also he won Caldecott medal for the book Smokey night.

9. He could be a role model In high school David I was encouraged to pursue a career in illustration. This shows that dreams can come true he wanted to pursue his dream and he made it with a little faith in himself. His best friend then and wife now showed him how to work with colors.
