2. Name and Year
 Nebraska’s state tree is the
cottonwood (populus
deltoides).
The cottonwood became the
state tree in 1972.

3. Height
Cottonwoods can reach up to
eighty feet in height.

4. Location
It is found throughout the state,
but grows best near rivers and
streams.

5. Seeds
White fibers that look like
cotton are attached to the
seeds and spring breezes can
blow them for miles.
