Spending time at Hult’s campus in Shanghai
allows you to experience how the Chinese
economy impacts almost everything.
The list of leaders is
changing faster than
you think.
By many measures, China has already overtaken the
U.S. as the world’s largest economy. China has built a rail
system in the past two decades that could circle the globe
three times, and the Chinese own more smartphones than
any other country.
London is the world’s most international
city. Hult has three separate campuses in
the Greater London area.
	Business
	 today is global.
A relevant business education must be a
global one. Now that 60% of the world’s economic
output crosses an international border, it’s no longer
enough to understand how business works. You also
need to know how the world works.
Hult offers electives in downtown Manhattan—
within walking distance of Wall Street.
Hult Dubai places you at the crossroads
of trade, media, and tourism in one of the
world’s most vibrant emerging markets.
The world’s largest
cities have more
economic power than
many countries.
NewYork City vies neck and neck
with Tokyo as the world’s most powerful
city. Its 1.1 trillion dollar economic output
exceeds that of Mexico.

The influence of
emerging markets
is on the rise.
Emerging markets now import more goods
than developed economies. They also produce over
50% of the world’s GDP.Their foreign investment
exceeds 440 billion dollars—more than the U.S. and
Europe combined.
Hult is the
global business
school.
Hult’s Global One-Year MBA offers the most practical
and global business education available. Learn about the real
world of business, in real time. Study at up to three of our
seven campuses in what will be the most intense year of
your life.

Hult San Francisco places you at the heart
of California’s innovation, technology and
startup culture.
Technology is
changing everything.
Uber is the world’s largest taxi company,
but it doesn’t own any cars.Airbnb has more rooms
worldwide than Hilton, but it doesn’t own any hotels.
Alibaba is one of the planet’s largest retailers, yet
it carries no inventory.
This is the world
of global business...
The only program that
allows you to study
seamlessly around the world.
Global campus rotation: At Hult you have the
opportunity to explore up to three of our seven campuses
over the course of one intensive year. We don’t partner
with other schools—we manage our own programs
so you can rotate among them without any interruption
to your studies.
Learn about world markets by living and
studying in three of them.
Today’s interconnected economy rewards those
who are able to cross borders and work with
people from around the world. Hult’s Global
Campus Rotation program will expose you to
three of the world’s fastest-paced economies so
that you can see for yourself how they work.
Simply choose a home campus to complete your
core coursework, then spend up to three months
specializing at two others—all without any
interruption to your studies.
Every campus has its own personality—
reflecting the vibe of its host city.
San Francisco has the edgy feel of a startup.
Consider Boston if you’re looking for a more
academic environment. London and NewYork
are ideal bases for international business—
especially finance—while Dubai is perfect for
those who want to understand one of the world’s
fastest-growing economies. Shanghai is China’s
most international city, and the right choice for
anyone wishing to do business in Asia.
We believe that where you study is almost as
important as what you study.
All of our campuses are in prime locations. We
understand that students want to be in the thick
of it, not in some distant suburb. We also work
with award-winning architects to create cool
academic environments because we believe you
learn better in inspiring spaces that encourage
collaboration.
To learn more about what each Hult campus has to offer,
see pp. 47–81
There are 210 possible
campus rotation combinations.

“ Hult’s One-Year MBA
program has sent me to three campuses:
London, Dubai, and Shanghai. It
challenged me to visit nine countries,
and saw me interact with people from
over 100 cultures. Never has my life
been so transformed in the space of a
year. Hult has given me a priceless
golden ticket for a world of opportunities
in which I no longer view borders as
barriers, but as options. And, of course,
a passport with no blank pages.”

Grades and test scores
are important, but they don’t
tell the whole story. We’re
also looking for international
experience, cultural awareness,
and second-language ability.
Many business schools
claim to be global.
Hult classrooms actually
prove it.
We look for what makes you unique.
Many of the world’s most successful leaders did
not graduate from college top of their class.Yet no
one doubts that there’s something truly special
about them. That’s why Hult is interested in more
than just your academic accomplishments. We
want to get to know you: what makes you tick,
what’s important to you, and where your true
passions lie.
Study alongside students from every industry.
Your fellow classmates will quickly become one
of your most prized learning resources. They
come from the broadest possible range of
professional backgrounds—having already worked
an average of six years doing everything
imaginable.Together, you will not only share your
experiences, but teach each other how everyone
sees the world from different angles. Most
important of all, you will learn how to use this
diversity to your advantage. You will not only
graduate with a network of friends from every
major city in the world, you will become a true
global citizen.
Global student body: The 2015 incoming
students represent 120 countries and speak over
100 languages. Though our students come from every
corner of the globe, they share a common desire to
make a mark on the world. They question the status
quo, dare to be different, and think outside of the box.

Global faculty:Though Hult professors have the
academic training you would expect, the subjects they teach
are greatly enhanced by their internationalism: they come
from 37 countries and have taught on almost every continent.
But what sets them truly apart is their real-world experience.
Everything you learn is backed by examples from their collective
successes as corporate executives, business owners, inventors,
and entrepreneurs.
Our faculty bring their
international experience
to the classroom.
A different approach to
what makes a great professor.
Unlike the faculty of most universities—who
are primarily researchers and authors—Hult
professors pride themselves first-and-foremost on
their ability to excel in the classroom. Many have
achieved significant success in the real world, and
are keen to share it with their students. Some
have worked in large multinationals like
McKinsey & Company, Coca-Cola, and Credit
Suisse. Others have run their own businesses and
enterprises. Several have developed their own
patents for goods and services.
Inspiring teachers, satisfied students.
Our professors and lecturers all possess impressive
academic credentials—93% hold advanced
degrees from some of the world’s finest
institutions. But what matters most to our
students is their performance in the classroom.
84% of Hult MBA students are highly satisfied
with the quality of their professors. They are
almost equally satisfied with the classroom
instruction and academic support they receive.
Hult professors hail
from 37 countries.The
majority bring over 10 years
of teaching experience to the
classroom, as well as their
own business successes.

Business knowledge:
The core
All MBA programs teach the fundamentals of strategy, finance
and management. What sets Hult apart, is the way we bring the
core concepts of business knowledge to life through experiential
teaching techniques and guest lectures from industry leaders,
while enhancing every subject with a global perspective.
Back to basics.
Your MBA program begins with a
three-week Immersion. Past students
have nicknamed this “Boot Camp,”
because from day one you grapple
with building blocks of business
through intensive lectures, seminars
and workshops. You also begin to
assess your leadership strengths and
weaknesses through coaching and
team-building exercises. Then, for
your first three modules, your core
courses will focus on the basics of
business theory—taught from a
global perspective.
Experts in bringing the
fundamental concepts to life.
Since we all learn best by doing, your
professors will periodically take you
out of the classroom to help bring
core subjects to life. We set up
dynamic simulations, have students
work through difficult role-play
situations with actors, use
computer-based models to market
and sell products, and organize
outdoor activities to learn teamwork
and leadership skills. One of our more
unconventional approaches is to pitch
students against professional poker
players in a lesson designed to teach
the art of risk management! By the
time you have completed your core
studies, you will not only know all the
fundamentals of business, you will
have experienced many of them
firsthand.
Hear the inside story, directly
from industry leaders.
Each Hult campus hosts a Global
Speaker Series so that you have the
opportunity to hear directly from the
world’s brightest minds. In the past,
Hult has welcomed thought leaders
such as Steve Wozniak (Co-founder
of Apple), Biz Stone (Co-founder of
Twitter), Arianna Huffington (founder
and editor of The Huffington Post) and
Muhammad Yunus (Nobel Peace Prize
Winner) to share their inspirational
stories and the lessons they have
learned on the way to the top. These
sessions offer invaluable insight into
cutting-edge business trends, and
provide access to the people who
are defining the shape of business
(see pp. 20-21).
Core courses:
Strategy
—— Analysis for Business Decisions
—— Managerial Economics
—— International Marketing
—— Business and Global Society
—— Global Strategies in Action
Management
—— Creating High-performance
Organizations
—— Global Operations Management
—— Entrepreneurial Leadership
Finance
—— Accounting in a Global
Environment
—— International Finance
—— Corporate Finance
It is a well-known fact in the business
community that venture capitalists are
notoriously tricky to convince. Before
they are willing to invest in any new
company, they interrogate every nut and
bolt of the young business. No stone is
left unturned while they get to know the
inner machinations of how the business
will work, and assess whether future
growth proposals are realistic.
At Hult, we believe in throwing students
into the deep end, so we devised the
Venture Strategy competition.The aim of
this two-day contest is to simulate a real-life,
high-pressure environment where you and
your teammates compete against other
companies to secure funding to launch a
tech startup.
Teams are systematically eliminated over
two days, and winners are selected across
numerous categories, including highest
return on investment, largest market share,
and best management team.
Being put in the hot seat like this truly
makes students scrutinize the viability of
both their business idea and business plan.
The mix of computer simulation and
real-world interaction throughout the
competition teaches you:
—— How to create innovative business plans
with a unique marketing niche
—— How to pitch your business idea to potential
investors over the course of multiple rounds
—— How to work in cross-functional teams to
make investment, production, sales and
marketing decisions that will ultimately
determine whether your business succeed
Previous students have thoroughly enjoyed
this simulation, despite (or maybe because
of) the very steep learning curve. Last year,
25 MBA students went on to launch their
own businesses after graduation, proving that
Hult really does foster entrepreneurial spirit.
How would you
fare against a venture
capitalist?
“ The simulations
really helped me to navigate conflict
that inevitably arises when you’re
working in teams with diverse people.”

key leadership competencies across
three development areas that
employers deem critical to success
(right). We call this the Hult LEAD
Model—Leadership through
Evaluation, Awareness and
Development.
How does LEAD work?
Since leadership can only truly be
learned through practice, Hult
students undergo a continuous
process of training, application, and
mentorship throughout their program
year. Critical to this process is
constant feedback and support from
fellow students and professional
coaches (see facing page). We begin
charting each student’s progress from
their first week of Immersion and, by
graduation, the results are very
impressive—over 85% of our students
show a significant improvement in all
five key competencies and three
development areas.

The Business Challenge:
Practical experience
Put all the business knowledge and leadership skills you learn to
the test with this seven-month competition in which you and
your teammates devise a game-changing idea to solve an existing
problem for a major corporation, or to create the business plan
for a startup.
Rise to the challenge and make
a real impact
The key concepts of business can
certainly be introduced by a
teacher, case study, or textbook. But
they cannot truly be mastered
until they are grappled with firsthand.
The Business Challenge is a
seven-month group project to solve a
real business problem. It’s designed to
help you develop and test innovative
ideas that really make a difference—
not only to your MBA program but in
your future career and beyond.
How it works
The competition starts in Module A,
when students form teams and
choose a Business Challenge track. In
the CEO Challenge, you select a
problem set by top executives from
major multinationals. In the Startup
Challenge, you bring your own idea to
life for a new product, service, or
social enterprise. Throughout the
remainder of the year, your team
meets regularly to hone your
innovative idea into an actionable
plan, thanks to regular mentorship
and guidance from your professors
and local business professionals.
A launchpad for you career
The Business Challenge culminates in
a series of regional elimination
rounds, where teams compete
head-to-head to advance to the Global
Final, held at one of our campuses
worldwide. Finalists get to present
their business ideas to a panel of
esteemed judges comprised of
executives, global entrepreneurs, and
well-known founders of social
enterprises. The challenge isn’t just an
academic exercise, but the first step to
your dream job, or the launch pad for
your own startup or social enterprise.
The Business Challenge

Solve a strategic challenge, set by the top
management of a major company, for one
of their markets, products, or services.
New Business:

new product or service.
Social Enterprise:

business solution.

One of 50 New Business Ideas in 2015:
TeamDropit from Hult London have proposed
an online platform enabling neighbors to accept
packages on each others’ behalf, earn a
commission, and eliminate the need to remain
at home to collect important packages. Three
of the team members are actively pursuing
venture capital to take the business forward.
Examples of past challenges
Background:
IBM has developed a supercomputer
“Watson” which is capable of learning and
adapting in the same way as humans. IBM
calls this capability “cognitive computing,”
an advanced form of Artificial Intelligence.
Watson gained fame by winning the U.S.
quiz show “Jeopardy,” and IBM CEO
Ginni Rometty has made it a centerpiece of
the company’s strategy going forward. She
is convinced that Watson and cognitive
computing will transform how we live and
do business. The power of Watson has
already been put to use transforming the
way medical research and diagnosis is done
for important disease areas.
2015 IBM challenge:
Create an actionable business idea showing
how IBM could put their AI technology to
use, and shape future product development
strategies using AI systems like Watson.
One Hult team’s solution:
Team IBM Helpdesk from Hult London
tackled the problem of inefficient help desks
and call centers that are not customer-
centric. Their idea was to create a smarter
and more helpful desk agent that could
eliminate queues, discern and analyze
trends, and respond more effectively and
efficiently to customer needs. This would
allow IBM to create a scalable and
commercially viable range of new customer
service products for a wide range of
industries.
Team IBM Helpdesk has made it to the
Global Finals of this year’s Business
Challenge.

“ I was looking for a one-year

Just six months into his MBA program,

his Career Services advisor, Laura, for
helping him discover his true potential.
“ Sometimes you need to listen to
your heart and take a leap of faith. This is
exactly what I did when I made my
decision to pursue an MBA at Hult. I quit
my senior exec job, invested a big chunk of
my savings, left my home in India, and
flew to Hult San Francisco.
I started my job search before I
arrived at Hult through Career Services’
Fast-Track program. But the real magic
happened when I started meeting with my
designated advisor, Laura Maish, in person.
My interactions with Hult’s Career
Services have been an intense process of
self-discovery, like polishing a stone into a
diamond.
	 I strictly followed all Laura’s
advice; so when I met a Hult alumnus who
was a guest speaker on campus and now

in line. I connected with him on LinkedIn,

Why
choose Boston
“ I always wanted to work in the U.S., specifically in Boston,
and the MBA from Hult allowed me to achieve that goal.At Hult, I
had the opportunity to develop my knowledge of the local market in
more depth while concurrently building my network, both in the city
and globally.After graduation, I worked for a non-profit financial
services organization in Boston that specializes in impact investment
and microfinance.”

A historic city with
a young outlook
Founded in 1630, Boston can claim
to be America’s most historic city. It’s
certainly the most academic, with
over 300 colleges calling the
metropolitan center home (including
Harvard and MIT). There’s no
disputing that Boston’s knowledge-
based economy is a direct result of its
academic excellence. Greater Boston
is headquarters to dozens of
biotechnology, healthcare, and
pharmaceutical giants. It’s also a hub
for innovative tech firms like Google
and Facebook. This has helped
Boston attract a strong financial
services base—both Fidelity and
State Street are located here—as well
as numerous prestigious venture
capital firms. Little wonder the
Innovation Cities Global Index
consistently rates Boston as one of
the world’s most innovative cities.
An abundance of career
opportunities
Many of Hult’s MBA students choose
to remain in Boston post-graduation.
Frequent career fairs and networking
events are grand affairs, attracting
some of the world’s top employers.
Our Global Career Services office is
particularly well-connected to the
management consulting, financial
services, and technology industries.
Last year, over 80% of Hult Boston

San Francisco
San Francisco is home to the biggest
breakthrough companies of the twenty-first
century,assuming almost epicenter status for
the world’s most forward-thinking
entrepreneurs.The technology born here by
the likes of Apple,Google, and Facebook has
not only brought about huge shifts in the
global marketplace,it has also changed the
face of corporate culture.San Francisco has
become a byword for creativity, and its
success stories epitomize what it means to
have a truly entrepreneurial mindset.
Why choose
San Francisco
A perfect blend
San Francisco is the ideal location for
the digitally driven age we currently
live in. The city has long been
powered by the startup economy,
earning itself a global reputation for
creativity and technological wizardry.
Indeed, having seen a generation of
determined entrepreneurs build huge
business empires out of garages and
college dorm rooms, San Francisco
has become the world’s premier
destination for those wanting to push
the boundaries of the possible. Silicon
Valley, just south of the city, is the
world’s leading tech hub, and is home
to anyone who is anyone in the digital
world, including Facebook, Twitter,
eBay, Uber and Airbnb. Yet 85% of
companies in the Bay Area have less
than ten employees. This blend of
small and mighty makes for a truly
unique business community, where
forward thinking and creativity are the
most highly prized credentials.
A wealth of opportunities
A diverse population, startup driven
economy, and a notoriously informal
approach to corporate etiquette mean
that many conventional business rules
have no place in San Francisco.
A business fraternity of marketers,
creatives, operations specialists,
finance experts, and consultants fuel
the tech-driven industries, so
whatever your business skills, you can
be sure that your perfect role exits.
Social entrepreneurship and
sustainability are high on the city’s
agenda so anyone with experience in
these fields is particularly highly
sought after.

Networking is a way of life
San Francisco intentionally blurs the
boundaries between work and play, as
great networking opportunities crop up
constantly, often without any warning.
The renowned “meet-up” culture
combines making meaningful business
connections with socializing. Our campus
is geographically well placed to take
advantage of this engrained mentality,
and our own networking events provide
another valuable springboard into the
wider business community. Hult San
Francisco students tend to have an
entrepreneurial mindset and don’t waste
anytime capitalizing on the contacts they
have made; in fact, every year
partnerships are forged and initiatives
started while studies are still being
completed.
Have the ears of key players
Student participants in the CEO track
of the Business Challenge work with
executives on a long-term project to
solve a real business challenge.
Students get the opportunity to
collaborate with companies like
General Electric, Starbucks, LinkedIn,
Twitter, NASA, and Fairtrade to devise
meaningful solutions to actual
problems. Experiential learning
events such as Hult Heat, have seen
students present their business ideas
to 17 executive judges, former CEOs
of Fortune 500 companies, venture
capitalists, and entrepreneurs.
Connect with companies at our
Career Open House
The latest annual Career Open House
held at Hult San Francisco featured 89
companies, including Twitter, Coca-Cola,
Yahoo, Google, Facebook, Apple and
IBM. Employers present current
opportunities within their business, and
give insights into their corporate culture
so you can decide if they are your match
made in heaven.
California Dreamin’
Seeking continual intellectual challenges,
keeping physically fit, and achieving
emotional well-being are all ways of life
in California, and San Francisco is no
different—mind, body and soul are all
extremely well catered-for here. Sports,
yoga and meditation are considered to
be more than just leisure pursuits, they
are deemed to be vitally important to
promoting a healthy work environment.
Hult San Francisco embraces this
philosophy with open arms during our

Why
choose London
The economic epicenter
of Europe
People from almost 200 countries call
London home, and you can hear over
300 languages spoken on its streets.
Yet, peculiarly British idiosyncrasies
are openly embraced by this
incredibly vibrant cultural melting pot,
meaning it doesn’t take long to feel at

success, an established reputation as
a global financial center, and a
distinguished history of academic
excellence give London the
confidence to be creative. Its
distinctive brand of music, fashion,
art, and film continues to set global
trends. The city’s business landscape
is as international as the population.
Over 250 foreign banks have
branches here, and 588 foreign
companies are listed on the London
Stock Exchange. The world has a very
real stake in London, and London in
turn thrives on its international
reputation.
Limitless career options
Every major industry is represented in
London, offering a huge variety of
career opportunities. Finance may be
the sector that most people
traditionally associate with London,
but the creative industries are really
making their mark on the city’s
landscape. 70% of Europe’s major
advertising agencies have offices in
London, and careers in marketing are
increasingly popular. Over recent
years a vibrant startup scene has
boomed, and it is now the European
leader in the digital and technology
sectors. The world is your oyster
if you choose to work in London.
“ London is one of the few cities in the world that is

Highlights of your
mba year
Enjoy Dubai’s astonishing desert landscapes during free time.
Our campus design captures the city’s futuristic vibe. Dubai: A city that has completely reinvented itself.
Hear from the region’s most
prestigious speakers
Like Dubai itself, our campus is a
meeting place for leaders from
around the world. This year’s guest
speakers have included Michael
Corbin, U.S. Ambassador to the
U.A.E., and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw,
Managing Director of Biocon and
India’s most successful self-made
woman. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak,
the Minister of Culture, Youth and
Cultural Development was one of the
speakers at this year’s Hult Prize.
Maximize your exposure
Students gain exposure to executives
from the region’s leading industries at
our campus events and through
working with our corporate partners
during the Business Challenge. Over
70 executives from local businesses
and multinationals such as Philips,
Emirates Global Aluminium, L’Oreal,
Adidas, Abu Dhabi International Bank,
PepsiCo, and Henkel, have made
valuable connections with our students.
Our Business Challenge partners
include Coca-Cola, Disney, Unilever,
Aramex, Philips and Emerson.
Learn Arabic while living in the
lap of luxury
Luxurious leisure activities are part
and parcel of daily life in Dubai. A
night at the races, desert safari, picnic
at the polo, and soaking up the
adrenalin fueled-atmosphere at
Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi are just
some of the organized trips you can
enjoy with Hult Dubai. Beginner
classes in Arabic are run on campus,
allowing you to complete a basic-level
course during your year. The course
gives you a practical tool as well as a
great addition to your résumé if you
plan to stay in the region.
Feel at home in this safe,
inclusive city
Low crime rates and an inclusive
mentality make Dubai a safe,
welcoming place to call home.
Traditional Arabian culture can be
seen everywhere, but it is respectfully
balanced with the customs, tastes and
lifestyles brought by the 190 other
nationalities that have settled here,
giving Dubai a cool and cosmopolitan
vibe. Shop at the city’s renowned
malls or barter in the traditional souks,
play sports at Safa Park’s public
facilities, relax on stunning beaches,
and choose from a wide array of
restaurants and nightlife at the
Marina. Dubai truly has something to
offer everyone.
“ The Hult campus in Dubai offers the
latest in technology—its meeting rooms are
designed to optimize our performance in teams.”
Jean-Marc Garabedian
Account Manager, Advanced Business Concept

Shanghai
The emergence of China as the
world’s fastest growing economy has
completely changed the global business
landscape, and Shanghai is the engine
driving its growth. Manufacturing and
service industries form the backbone of
the city, while a new focus on innovation
sees technological and design trends
continously flow onto the world stage.
Experience in this pivotal region
is now a must-have for any aspiring leader.
Why
choose Shanghai
China’s most influential and
innovative city
Shanghai is China’s commercial and
financial center, and the region’s most
influential city in terms of international
trade. With the Shanghai stock
exchange now a major player, and the
world’s busiest container port
operating out of the city, the biggest
names on the global business circuit
are flocking to Shanghai to ensure
they have a stake in this pivotal
market. Manufacturing and export are
traditionally the largest industries in
China—it is the world’s largest
exporter and second largest importer
of goods—but there is a growing
focus on the service industries with
financial services, retail, and real
estate experiencing rapid growth.
China’s new generation of
entrepreneurs are making serious
waves on the international startup
scene, and original thinkers are
leading a renaissance in the creative
industries. Its seemingly limitless
potential is only just starting to be
unlocked, making Shanghai an
incredibly exciting place to be.
Give yourself a competitive edge
in the job market
Knowledge of, and experience in, this
hugely important region gives you a
tangible competitive advantage in
today’s international job market.
Whether you are hoping to forge a
career within China, Asia, or further
afield—every major market in the
world wants to trade with China. Hult
Shanghai’s class of 2013 went on to
find jobs in 43 countries. Understand-
ing Chinese business practice is a
very valuable commodity.
24Million residents in
Shanghai make it one of
the world’s largest
cities.
20KRestaurants open their
doors to Shanghai
residents every day. We
predict it will shortly
become the food capital
of the world.
12Number of years
Shanghai has
experienced
double-digit economic
growth.
62%Percentage of
Shanghai’s GDP
contributed by
the service sector.
2010The year Shanghai
broke the record for the
world’s largest fair when
it hosted the World Expo.
“ At Hult Shanghai I met the most amazing and
inspiring people in the world—my time there boosted my
global network and opened my eyes to global issues.”

Shanghai Campus
Interaction and collaboration are integral parts of the curriculum.
Shanghai: A city of rapid change.
A centrally-located campus
in China’s biggest city
Hult’s Shanghai campus is positioned
right in the thick of the action on
People’s Square, surrounded by
the soaring skyscrapers of the city’s
commercial and financial district.
Walk along Shanghai’s most famous
shopping street, Nanjing Road,
visit the outstanding Shanghai
Museum, and enjoy an al fresco
lunch at People’s Park—all located
minutes away from campus. Public
transportation provides easy access
to the rest of the city, and our
student accommodation is a short
commute away.
Award-winning architecture
It doesn’t take long to appreciate
why the contemporary design and
stylish functionality of our Hult
Shanghai campus has won several
architectural awards. It was built to
encourage student interaction and
collaboration, and provides a sociable
and stimulating working environment.
State-of-the-art classrooms, computer
laboratories, and spacious student
lounges are all designed to create a
calm ambiance, providing a welcome
respite from the hustle-and-bustle of
downtown Shanghai.
Live in our student residence
Students at our Shanghai campus
are eligible to live in Tianhong
Residence, a centrally located hotel
offering quality living, study, and
recreational spaces exclusively
to Hult students. Getting to the
Shanghai Railway Station is easy,
as is commuting to the airports in

Prepare to be inspired
Insightful, motivating, and often
revelatory, our speaker events are
some of the most highly anticipated
campus events. Our guests are
hand-picked because of their diverse
experience, local expertise, and
unique perspectives on the global
business world. Hult Shanghai has
recently hosted speakers from Apple,
Unilever, Rovio Entertainment (the
Angry Birds company), the Economist
Intelligence Unit, KPMG, Accenture,
Microsoft, and sustainability pioneer,
Peggy Liu, Chair of the Joint U.S. China
Collaboration on Clean Energy
(JUCCCE).
Welcome leading corporates on
and off campus
There’s a constant stream of
high-caliber business leaders on
campus ready to meet students and
share insights. We welcomed
representatives from 130 companies
at our Shanghai campus last year
including key speakers from McKinsey
& Company, Scott PR China, L’Oreal
China, and Bloomberg Shanghai. Site
visits to companies including Unilever
and Volkswagen give students a
ground-level insight into operations
at multinational companies.
Work with global players and
local influencers
Business leaders in Shanghai are
keen to connect with international
talent and our campus provides an
ideal environment for such
introductions. Company visits, guest
speakers, lunchtime seminars, one-off
presentations, and student club
events provide frequent opportunities
for face-to-face meetings and the
exchange of ideas. Past student
projects have included working with
Hangzhou-based Alibaba.com, the
world’s largest online B2B trading
platform for small businesses, and
partnering with Fortune 500
conglomerate Johnson Controls.
Live in the sophisticated cultural
center of China
Shanghai has a well-deserved
reputation as China’s most
sophisticated and cosmopolitan city.
A young, creative, and internationally
aware population has seen the rise of
“Shanghai Chic”—a booming fashion
scene, much talked about art
movement, world-renowned
restaurants and shopping districts,
and a lively nightlife. Yet despite
modernity being openly embraced,
the rich cultural heritage of this
ancient city is still omnipresent.
Shanghai gives you the opportunity to
really get to grips with China’s
fascinating history and get to know a
very different culture.
Highlights of your
mba year
Experience Shanghai’s cosmopolitan nightlife.
Explore the Old City during free time.
Your professors will challenge you to think globally in all your classes.
Get to know Chinese business culture firsthand.
“ The atmosphere at Hult Shanghai can be
summed up in two words—diverse and adventurous.
Students here are not afraid to take risks and want
something more than a traditional MBA.”

By many measures, China has already overtaken the U.S. as the world’s largest economy. China has built a rail system in the past two decades that could circle the globe three times, and the Chinese own more smartphones than any other country. London is the world’s most international city. Hult has three separate campuses in the Greater London area. Business today is global. A relevant business education must be a global one. Now that 60% of the world’s economic output crosses an international border, it’s no longer enough to understand how business works. You also need to know how the world works.

Global campus rotation: At Hult you have the opportunity to explore up to three of our seven campuses over the course of one intensive year. We don’t partner with other schools—we manage our own programs so you can rotate among them without any interruption to your studies. Learn about world markets by living and studying in three of them. Today’s interconnected economy rewards those who are able to cross borders and work with people from around the world. Hult’s Global Campus Rotation program will expose you to three of the world’s fastest-paced economies so that you can see for yourself how they work. Simply choose a home campus to complete your core coursework, then spend up to three months specializing at two others—all without any interruption to your studies. Most important of all, you will learn how to use this diversity to your advantage. You will not only graduate with a network of friends from every major city in the world, you will become a true global citizen. Global student body: The 2015 incoming students represent 120 countries and speak over 100 languages. • 8. Global faculty:Though Hult professors have the academic training you would expect, the subjects they teach are greatly enhanced by their internationalism: they come from 37 countries and have taught on almost every continent. But what sets them truly apart is their real-world experience. Everything you learn is backed by examples from their collective successes as corporate executives, business owners, inventors, and entrepreneurs. Our faculty bring their international experience to the classroom. A different approach to what makes a great professor. Unlike the faculty of most universities—who are primarily researchers and authors—Hult professors pride themselves first-and-foremost on their ability to excel in the classroom. Many have achieved significant success in the real world, and are keen to share it with their students. Some have worked in large multinationals like McKinsey & Company, Coca-Cola, and Credit Suisse. Others have run their own businesses and enterprises. Several have developed their own patents for goods and services. Inspiring teachers, satisfied students. Our professors and lecturers all possess impressive academic credentials—93% hold advanced degrees from some of the world’s finest institutions. But what matters most to our students is their performance in the classroom. 84% of Hult MBA students are highly satisfied with the quality of their professors. They are almost equally satisfied with the classroom instruction and academic support they receive. • 14. Business knowledge: The core All MBA programs teach the fundamentals of strategy, finance and management. What sets Hult apart, is the way we bring the core concepts of business knowledge to life through experiential teaching techniques and guest lectures from industry leaders, while enhancing every subject with a global perspective. Back to basics. Your MBA program begins with a three-week Immersion. Past students have nicknamed this “Boot Camp,” because from day one you grapple with building blocks of business through intensive lectures, seminars and workshops. You also begin to assess your leadership strengths and weaknesses through coaching and team-building exercises. Then, for your first three modules, your core courses will focus on the basics of business theory—taught from a global perspective. Experts in bringing the fundamental concepts to life. Since we all learn best by doing, your professors will periodically take you out of the classroom to help bring core subjects to life. We set up dynamic simulations, have students work through difficult role-play situations with actors, use computer-based models to market and sell products, and organize outdoor activities to learn teamwork and leadership skills. One of our more unconventional approaches is to pitch students against professional poker players in a lesson designed to teach the art of risk management! By the time you have completed your core studies, you will not only know all the fundamentals of business, you will have experienced many of them firsthand. Hear the inside story, directly from industry leaders. Each Hult campus hosts a Global Speaker Series so that you have the opportunity to hear directly from the world’s brightest minds. In the past, Hult has welcomed thought leaders such as Steve Wozniak (Co-founder of Apple), Biz Stone (Co-founder of Twitter), Arianna Huffington (founder and editor of The Huffington Post) and Muhammad Yunus (Nobel Peace Prize Winner) to share their inspirational stories and the lessons they have learned on the way to the top. These sessions offer invaluable insight into cutting-edge business trends, and provide access to the people who are defining the shape of business (see pp. 20-21). Core courses: Strategy —— Analysis for Business Decisions —— Managerial Economics —— International Marketing —— Business and Global Society —— Global Strategies in Action Management —— Creating High-performance Organizations —— Global Operations Management —— Entrepreneurial Leadership Finance —— Accounting in a Global Environment —— International Finance —— Corporate Finance It is a well-known fact in the business community that venture capitalists are notoriously tricky to convince. Before they are willing to invest in any new company, they interrogate every nut and bolt of the young business. No stone is left unturned while they get to know the inner machinations of how the business will work, and assess whether future growth proposals are realistic. At Hult, we believe in throwing students into the deep end, so we devised the Venture Strategy competition. The aim of this two-day contest is to simulate a real-life, high-pressure environment where you and your teammates compete against other companies to secure funding to launch a tech startup. Teams are systematically eliminated over two days, and winners are selected across numerous categories, including highest return on investment, largest market share, and best management team. Being put in the hot seat like this truly makes students scrutinize the viability of both their business idea and business plan. The mix of computer simulation and real-world interaction throughout the competition teaches you: —— How to create innovative business plans with a unique marketing niche —— How to pitch your business idea to potential investors over the course of multiple rounds —— How to work in cross-functional teams to make investment, production, sales and marketing decisions that will ultimately determine whether your business succeed Previous students have thoroughly enjoyed this simulation, despite (or maybe because of) the very steep learning curve. Last year, 25 MBA students went on to launch their own businesses after graduation, proving that Hult really does foster entrepreneurial spirit. How would you fare against a venture capitalist? “ The simulations really helped me to navigate conflict that inevitably arises when you’re working in teams with diverse people.” Kenneth Fomunung Current student, Hult London U.S., Class of 2015 CURRICULUM 26 GLOBAL ONE-YEAR MBA 27 HULT.EDU/MBA

Hult integrates the best leadership development practices from the world’s top companies into our MBA curriculum so you can make an immediate impact when you return to the workforce. An award-winning leadership development methodology In 2014, Hult won the prestigious Association of MBAs Innovation Award for our ground-breaking approach to incorporating the best tools and techniques from preeminent corporate leadership development programs into our MBA curriculum. Hult students develop five key leadership competencies across three development areas that employers deem critical to success (right). We call this the Hult LEAD Model—Leadership through Evaluation, Awareness and Development. How does LEAD work? Since leadership can only truly be learned through practice, Hult students undergo a continuous process of training, application, and mentorship throughout their program year. Critical to this process is constant feedback and support from fellow students and professional coaches (see facing page). We begin charting each student’s progress from their first week of Immersion and, by graduation, the results are very impressive—over 85% of our students show a significant improvement in all five key competencies and three development areas. Melanie Eusebe Broadcaster Chair of Black British Business Awards Leadership Coach at Hult London Melanie Eusebe mentors students as a Leadership Coach for the LEAD program at Hult London. Melanie relishes sharing the knowledge she has gained as an independent management consultant and team leader for global companies such as IBM and Ernst &Young— especially in the areas of brand management, organizational development, and operational strategy. Melanie feels particularly passionate about inspiring a new generation of exceptional business leaders through role modeling, which led her to found the Black British Business Awards in 2012. “ I love working with Hult students one-on-one to help them discover their potential as leaders. • 16. The Business Challenge: Practical experience Put all the business knowledge and leadership skills you learn to the test with this seven-month competition in which you and your teammates devise a game-changing idea to solve an existing problem for a major corporation, or to create the business plan for a startup. Rise to the challenge and make a real impact The key concepts of business can certainly be introduced by a teacher, case study, or textbook. But they cannot truly be mastered until they are grappled with firsthand. The Business Challenge is a seven-month group project to solve a real business problem. It’s designed to help you develop and test innovative ideas that really make a difference— not only to your MBA program but in your future career and beyond. How it works The competition starts in Module A, when students form teams and choose a Business Challenge track. In the CEO Challenge, you select a problem set by top executives from major multinationals. In the Startup Challenge, you bring your own idea to life for a new product, service, or social enterprise. Throughout the remainder of the year, your team meets regularly to hone your innovative idea into an actionable plan, thanks to regular mentorship and guidance from your professors and local business professionals. A launchpad for you career The Business Challenge culminates in a series of regional elimination rounds, where teams compete head-to-head to advance to the Global Final, held at one of our campuses worldwide. Finalists get to present their business ideas to a panel of esteemed judges comprised of executives, global entrepreneurs, and well-known founders of social enterprises. The challenge isn’t just an academic exercise, but the first step to your dream job, or the launch pad for your own startup or social enterprise. Examples of past challenges Background: IBM has developed a supercomputer “Watson” which is capable of learning and adapting in the same way as humans. IBM calls this capability “cognitive computing,” an advanced form of Artificial Intelligence. Watson gained fame by winning the U.S. quiz show “Jeopardy,” and IBM CEO Ginni Rometty has made it a centerpiece of the company’s strategy going forward. She is convinced that Watson and cognitive computing will transform how we live and do business. The power of Watson has already been put to use transforming the way medical research and diagnosis is done for important disease areas. 2015 IBM challenge: Create an actionable business idea showing how IBM could put their AI technology to use, and shape future product development strategies using AI systems like Watson. One Hult team’s solution: Team IBM Helpdesk from Hult London tackled the problem of inefficient help desks and call centers that are not customer- centric. Their idea was to create a smarter and more helpful desk agent that could eliminate queues, discern and analyze trends, and respond more effectively and efficiently to customer needs. This would allow IBM to create a scalable and commercially viable range of new customer service products for a wide range of industries. Team IBM Helpdesk has made it to the Global Finals of this year’s Business Challenge. Hult MBA students rise to the challenge CURRICULUM 30 GLOBAL ONE-YEAR MBA 31 HULT.EDU/MBA

Hult San Francisco San Francisco is home to the biggest breakthrough companies of the twenty-first century, assuming almost epicenter status for the world’s most forward-thinking entrepreneurs. The technology born here by the likes of Apple,Google, and Facebook has not only brought about huge shifts in the global marketplace,it has also changed the face of corporate culture.San Francisco has become a byword for creativity, and its success stories epitomize what it means to have a truly entrepreneurial mindset. Why choose San Francisco A perfect blend San Francisco is the ideal location for the digitally driven age we currently live in. The city has long been powered by the startup economy, earning itself a global reputation for creativity and technological wizardry. Indeed, having seen a generation of determined entrepreneurs build huge business empires out of garages and college dorm rooms, San Francisco has become the world’s premier destination for those wanting to push the boundaries of the possible. Silicon Valley, just south of the city, is the world’s leading tech hub, and is home to anyone who is anyone in the digital world, including Facebook, Twitter, eBay, Uber and Airbnb. Yet 85% of companies in the Bay Area have less than ten employees. This blend of small and mighty makes for a truly unique business community, where forward thinking and creativity are the most highly prized credentials. A wealth of opportunities A diverse population, startup driven economy, and a notoriously informal approach to corporate etiquette mean that many conventional business rules have no place in San Francisco. A business fraternity of marketers, creatives, operations specialists, finance experts, and consultants fuel the tech-driven industries, so whatever your business skills, you can be sure that your perfect role exits.
