7. Some Facts!
- Companies like eBay and Amazon are bringing in billions of dollars a year
from their mobile apps and mobile commerce sites.
- Marketing firm Performics reported that
49% of “heavy mobile web users” have made a purchase
using a mobile.
- David Eads reports that Kony Solutions sees ,
30% higher conversion rates for native iPhone apps versus
typical mobile websites
Meanwhile, native Android apps tend to have about the same
conversion rate as mobile commerce sites.

- Both ASOS and John Lewis plan to launch transactional
mobile apps in the first half of this year in a bid to take
advantage of the burgeoning mobile commerce sector, which
is valued globally at $272bn (£172bn) for 2011

1. Clothing and accessories purchases on mobile were second to digital purchases.
According to comScore in September 2011, digital purchases
(music, eBooks, TV episodes, movies) were the most popular mobile purchases at 47%,
followed by sales in clothing and accessories purchased directly from retailer at 37%.
2. According to Google Insights four out of five U.S. Smartphone owners use phone to
help with shopping. A survey of 5,013 U.S. Smartphone owners found that:
