The document describes a photo art workshop held at the Takoma Park Maryland Library. Twenty photographers and photo editors participated in creating original artworks using found photographs from various sources like family photos and public domain internet images. They edited the photos using the free and open-source GIMP photo editing program on multiple computers running Linux operating systems. The workshop was designed and taught by CMA Medeiros with support from the Friends of the Library organization.

Sources: Original photographs made with some elderly, floppy-disk Mavicas, family and personal photos (scanned if not already digital), various objects placed on the scanner bed, and public domain (we hope) photographs found on the web. Editing: the participants used GIMP which is a free, open-source photo editing program, on our various computers, all running Linux – the multi-station public computers (Userful / Fedora), our laptop (Fedora) and our office scanning / printing station (Ubuntu).
