Bomb
• Target audience: Aimed towards teenagers who are preparing Christmas gifts for their
friends
• URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk6ctUy0BW0&list=PLgZl0K_JvOVpsSHOmk01fG8uaumuA6oud&index=2
• Author:BeautySplurge on YouTube
• Purpose: A DIY video tutorial in showing how you can make your own creative bath bombs
for friends
• Elements of the video I like: I liked how her final product (bath bomb) was very
unique and creative. Her voice was very clear and easy to understand. The video was a bit
long as it was 6 minutes, however I was too drawn into the video because of its creativity and
originality, I did not notice until the end. The music in the background matched the Christmas
theme of the video. She used good video editing skills, as she showed some simple special
effects on such as fast forwarding, including background music and voicing over the video.
• Elements of the video I dislike: The angling of her camera because sometimes it was
not easy to see what she was physically doing.
• Any features I think is missing: none

• Author: chicforless on YouTube
• Purpose: To teach the viewers a way of turning plain shirts into trendy, fashionable galaxy shirts.
• Elements of the video I like: I liked how even though the video was narrated with another
language (that I couldn’t understand), the video’s step-to-step guide made it very easy for me to
understand what I was supposed to do in order to make a galaxy shirt. I also liked how she had
introduced the materials we needed at the beginningin order to make the shirt. I liked how she used
simple music in the background as it doesn’t catch too much attention as that is not an element that
viewers focus on. I also like her use of effects with the video camera zooming in and the fast-
forwarding effect.
• Elements of the video I dislike: I did not like how she did not use a tripod in this video in
some parts therefore it was very wobbly and distracting.
• Any features I think is missing: I think she could have filmed more of the final product, for
example herself wearing it outside, and film how it looks like instead of just one photo at the end.

• Author: MissFrench14 on YouTube
• Purpose: To teach how to change plain shorts or jeans into attractive and fashionable dye studded
shorts
• Elements of the video I like: I like how the video was very clear and understandable. I liked
the use of effects such as fast-forwarding and the playing two videos at once next to each other. Her
camera was good quality and focused on the object well. I liked how the video was a tutorial to make
studded shorts as they are very trendy and fashionable, however most are expensive to buy, therefore
by having this tutorial, it teaches people how to make them at a more cheap price.
• Elements of the video I dislike: I didn’t like how the video was very long. It was 8 minutes
and it was starting to get boring towards the end. I think she should’ve been more precise and cut out
the areas that was not necessary.
• Any features I think is missing: A clear shot of the final product from different angles. She
could’ve shown herself wearing the shorts to show what they actually look like when a person is
wearing them.

• Author: stylehaul on YouTube
• Purpose: To “punk out your plain flats with some neon lace!”
• Elements of the video I like: The use of effects of zooming in and zooming out. I also
liked the fast-forwarding effect. I also liked how she used a tripod when filming this video so
the clips were not wobbly. I liked how there was no narration but text used on the videos
instead, with catchy music in the background, but was still very understandable. I liked the
presentation of the final product, as she showed it with herself or someone physically wearing
the flats outside. Good quality video clips. I also like how it was under 3 minutes. Short and
concise. The video looked very professional.
• Elements of the video I dislike: none

10. Conclusion to existing solutions
research…
• I think the best DIY video out of the 4 I have analyzed and assessed previously is
“DIY Hot trends – Punk out your Flats with Appliqué”
• I think this because not only was the video clear and easy to understand, it was very
concise and went straight into the point.
• The video was less than 3 minutes, which kept the audiences attention without them
getting bored.
• The video was able to get its message across to its audience as they used text to
instead of narration, and they have background music to cover the silence.
• They used various video editing effects such as fast forwarding and zooming in.
• They had a good quality camera with good quality clips.
• They placed the camera on the tripod to avoid wobbly-ness and distraction.
• They had clear audiences and aims, as they wanted to punk out plain boring
flats, and turn them into new, attractive fashion items. This shows they have done
their research into what is currently trendy and what is not.
