43
TeknikPenulisanNaskah Public Speaking
Ketika saya, anda atau siapa saja gagal melakukan persiapan dalam public
speaking, maka yang akan terdengar oleh kita adalah “suara kedua lutut
yang beradu”.
Persiapan membuat anda percaya diri. Persiapan membuat kita merasa
nyaman. Persiapan seperti pekerjaan rumah.
Ketika kita tidak mengerjakannya, maka pada hari di mana pekerjaan rumah
tersebut ditagih, keringat dingin akan mengucur dengan deras di dahi dan
lutut kita akan gemetar.
44
TUJUAN KEGIATAN PUBLIC SPEAKING
Dalam sebuah kegiatan public speaking, tujuan utama penulisan
naskah / kegiatan public speaking tidaklah lebih dari;
5M Menginformasikan
Meyakinkan
Menghibur
Menyentuh Emosi
Memotivasi / menginspirasi
untuk bertindak
45
 HUMAS Vs PUBLIC
Perbedaan penulisan HUMAS dengan Penulisan Jurnalistik
HUMAS JURNALISTIK
Diseminasi informasi
organisasi, aktivitas, kebijakan, produ
k, personalitas, atau sudut pandang.
Pemaparan fakta
Tujuannya bisa menjelaskan tetapi
juga melindungi
Tujuannya pengungkapan pada publik
Keberimbangan dipahami dengan
memunculkan sisi positif dan mereduksi
atau mengabaikan sisi negatif
Prinsip keberimbangan krusial dalam
melaporkan isu pro dan kontra
Detail informasi sering menjadi
tuntutan dari pihak instansi
Sederhana dan ringkas menjadi
pertimbangan editor
Fakta ditampilkan secara alami tetapi
dengan pertimbangan matang untuk
memenuhi tujuan tertentu
Fakta mengalir alami dalam bercerita
atau cerita feature atau siaran

HANDLING
THE AUDIENCE
(Make a First Impression)
Chapter 3/by: Billy Soemawisastra
58
STAGE FEVER
 The fear of standing up produces:
 Shallow breathing
 Dry mouth
 Static posture
 Hand, leg and knee shake
 Rapid speech
 Sweaty palms
 Palpitations and feeling of panic
 Blotchiness on face and neck
 Negative body language. Ex: poor eye
contact
59
With thorough
preparation a little
nervousness is a good
sign. It means that you
realize the importance
of the occasion and
want to do your best.
60
Keep Breathing:
 Draw in a good deep
breath
 Release air
slowly, counting out loud.
 Continue until you build
up a rhythm
61
The Flop:
 Inhale: Bending over your
stomach, through your nose.
 Exhale: slowly breath deeply
through your mouth.
 Repeat it again and again.
62
To help overcome your fear:
 Tell a story from your personal
experience. Your audience is
interested in you
 Think about relaxing your
audience. Put your audience at
ease.
 Think positive: concentrate on
being yourself, rather than
thinking about how nervous
you feel.
63
When feeling nervous, keep in
mind:
 Fear is a normal experience
 Fears are not well founded
 Your audience will want you to succeed.
 Speakers who are well prepared almost always
give creditable performances.
 Nervousness tends to disappear with added
experience.
 Speakers seldom look as frightened as they feel.
 Use the nervous energy to sharpen your delivery
and concentrate on getting your points across.
64
Starting Speech
 Silent – Look forward the
audience without talking
 Talking with a good voice
(diapraghm, articulation,
intonation, diction, pausing,
pacing)
65
VOICE
Your audience will be judging you partly by
how you talk.
The most annoying to the
audiences:
 Mumbling or talking too softly
 Monotonous boring voice
 Using filler word such as ‘um’
and ‘you know’
 Talking too fast
 Using poor grammar or
mispronouncing word
66
Verbal Communication
Clear diction
 Everyone has an accent
 Use it as an asset
 Always speak clearly
67
Communication Checklist
Does your voice sound:
 Squeaky
 Too loud
 Too high
 Monotonous
68
Communication Checklist
Pronunciation
Do you:
 Mumble
 Mispronounce word
 Have an accent or dialect
 Mispronounce vowels
69
Communication Checklist
General communication check
list
Do you:
 Talk too fast
 Talk too slowly
 Tail off at the end of
sentences
 Use slang, jargon
 Say ‘um’ or ‘okay’ or use
filler
70
Modulation
 The enemy of modulation is
monotony
 Depends on momentary
changes of pace, pitch, power,
pausing
 Speak monotonously:
disagreeable of the listener
and fatiguing for you
71
Pausing:
 highlights its importance
 gives listeners time to catch up.
 help build suspense and
maintain interest.
For more practices, you may
choose your own article and keep
practicing the rate of your
delivery...
72
Loudness of voice
No presentation can be effective if the audience
cannot hear well the speaker.
If there is no sound system, estimate your voice volume.
If there is a sound system, know the proper use of microphone.

Cuplikan Puisi Chairil Anwar:
“Cintaku Jauh di Pulau”
Cintaku jauh di pulau
Gadis manis sekarang iseng sendiri
Perahu melancar, bulan memancar,
Di leher kukalungkan ole-ole buat si pacar.
Angin membantu, laut terang, tapi terasa
Aku tidak ‘kan sampai padanya.
Di air yang tenang, di angin mendayu,
Di perasaan penghabisan segala melaju.
Ajal bertakhta, sambil berkata:
“Tujukan perahu ke pangkuanku saja.”
86
Aku begitu terusik. Hanya ada satu orang
yang ingin kutemui malam itu. Jamilah.Aku
ingin menanyainya tentang tuduhan Amjad
dan Al-Fadil serta Imaduddin.Aku ingin
meneriakkannya di hadapan Jamilah dan
mengamati reaksinya.Aku menginginkan
kebenaran, tetapi aku tidak ingin kehilangan
persahabatanku dengan Jamilah.Aku ingin dia
meludahi mereka yang menyebarkan tuduhan
keji itu.Aku ingin dia menyatakan diri tidak
bersalah di hadapanku.
87
Saudara-saudara yang saya cintai. Memang
berat untuk menerima kekalahan. Berat sekali.
Bahkan terlalu berat. Tetapi itu jauh lebih baik
daripada kita kehilangan nyawa. Lagipula
semua itu untuk kepentingan kita bersama.
Kita semua mendukung demokrasi dan sudah
bertekad mengorbankan apa saja untuk
demokrasi. Di dalam demokrasi, suara
terbanyak yang harus menang. Maka sebagai
pembela demokrasi, kita tidak boleh dongkol
karena kalah.
88
Rodrigo de Freiras baru saja tiba dari
Cordoba, ketika Frederico Garcia Lorca dari Rio de
Janeiro mengajaknya berhura-hura di Café de La
Prahara Darakdak Derekdek. Di Café yang berdiri
sejak zaman purba itu, mereka bercengkerama
seraya berbincang-bincang tentang pertempuran
para dewa di negeri Amartapura. Lalu mereka
meminum minuman keras sambil bernyanyi dan
berteriak-teriak keras-keras. Kemudian menari
bersama dalam irama tor tor sampai akhirnya
menceburkan diri ke dalam sumur berlumpur.

Cuplikan Puisi Chairil Anwar:
“Cintaku Jauh di Pulau”
Cintaku jauh di pulau
Gadis manis sekarang iseng sendiri
Perahu melancar, bulan memancar,
Di leher kukalungkan ole-ole buat si pacar.
Angin membantu, laut terang, tapi terasa
Aku tidak ‘kan sampai padanya.
Di air yang tenang, di angin mendayu,
Di perasaan penghabisan segala melaju.
Ajal bertakhta, sambil berkata:
“Tujukan perahu ke pangkuanku saja.”
140
Aku begitu terusik. Hanya ada satu orang
yang ingin kutemui malam itu. Jamilah.Aku
ingin menanyainya tentang tuduhan Amjad
dan Al-Fadil serta Imaduddin.Aku ingin
meneriakkannya di hadapan Jamilah dan
mengamati reaksinya.Aku menginginkan
kebenaran, tetapi aku tidak ingin kehilangan
persahabatanku dengan Jamilah.Aku ingin dia
meludahi mereka yang menyebarkan tuduhan
keji itu.Aku ingin dia menyatakan diri tidak
bersalah di hadapanku.
141
Saudara-saudara yang saya cintai. Memang
berat untuk menerima kekalahan. Berat sekali.
Bahkan terlalu berat. Tetapi itu jauh lebih baik
daripada kita kehilangan nyawa. Lagipula
semua itu untuk kepentingan kita bersama.
Kita semua mendukung demokrasi dan sudah
bertekad mengorbankan apa saja untuk
demokrasi. Di dalam demokrasi, suara
terbanyak yang harus menang. Maka sebagai
pembela demokrasi, kita tidak boleh dongkol
karena kalah.
142
Rodrigo de Freiras baru saja tiba dari
Cordoba, ketika Frederico Garcia Lorca dari Rio de
Janeiro mengajaknya berhura-hura di Café de La
Prahara Darakdak Derekdek. Di Café yang berdiri
sejak zaman purba itu, mereka bercengkerama
seraya berbincang-bincang tentang pertempuran
para dewa di negeri Amartapura. Lalu mereka
meminum minuman keras sambil bernyanyi dan
berteriak-teriak keras-keras. Kemudian menari
bersama dalam irama tor tor sampai akhirnya
menceburkan diri ke dalam sumur berlumpur.
143
Chapter 4/by: Indri Yulistiani
“First Impressions”
How to impress audiences at the first performance
without talking
From the moment you
walk through the door,
your appearance is
appraised and this
assessment may last for a
long time, possibly even
forever.
144
Chapter 3 & 4 /by: all trainers

  • 88. Saudara-saudara yang saya cintai. Memang berat untuk menerima kekalahan. Berat sekali. Bahkan terlalu berat. 88
