This document compares the resolutions of common computer monitors and TVs to digital camera image sensor resolutions in megapixels. Higher resolution monitors and TVs can display images captured by higher megapixel cameras without loss of detail, with the largest displays able to show images from cameras with sensors up to 12 megapixels. Standard definition displays require cameras of 2 megapixels or less for optimal viewing.
