2. • KevynAucoin (February 14, 1962 – May 7, 2002)
• Aucoin grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and was
interested in makeup from the time he was a
child, and frequently did his sisters' makeup.
• At 18, Aucoin worked as a MUA in women's store
in Lafayette. But the women were uncomfortable
with a man doing their makeup so, he moved to
New York City.
• He worked at Vogue doing makeup for cover
shoots and would often be booked months in
advance. He could command as much as $6-
10,000 for a makeup session.
3. • Kevyn became a creative director at Revlon
and worked with Shiseido in Japan.
• In September 2001, Aucoin was diagnosed
with a rare tumor.
• Aucoin died on May 7, 2002 atof kidney and
liver failure due to acetaminophen toxicity,
caused by his addiction to prescription
painkillers.
• He has more covers to his credit than any
other makeup artist, and is the recipient of
the first-ever CFDA (Council of Fashion
Designers of America) Award for makeup
artistry.
