People with yellow styles perform their job responsibilities in a manner that
is orderly and planned to meet a known schedule. They prefer to work where
things get done with a minimum of interpretation and unexpected change.
People with a yellow style tend to be orderly, cautious, structured, loyal,
systematic, solitary, methodical, and organized, and usually thrive in a
research-oriented, predictable, established, controlled, measurable, orderly
environment. You will want to choose a work environment or career path in
which your style is welcomed and produces results.
10. An interior designer is responsible for the interior design, decoration, and
functionality of a client’s space. Different types of spaces worked on commercial,
industrial, or residential rooms. Interior designers work with architects and clients
to determine the structure of a space and the needs of the occupants. Interior
designers have to be good with color, fabric, and furniture. Two years into the
profession, many aspiring interior designers are working as interns or assistants,
as entry into the field is competitive. A number of students make connections
through relationships their schools have with major employers. Salaries are low
or nonexistent in these early years, hours are long, and satisfaction may be low.
After five years, interior designers have significant professional experience and
a paying job in the industry. Many have associate-level responsibility for projects
and work relatively unsupervised. Many consider starting their own interior
design firm. Hours become more stable, and salary increases. After ten-year
interior designers have significant budgeting and cost-estimating responsibility
and extensive client contact. The majority of those who wanted to start their own
interior design firms have done so by this time. Hours remain stable, and
salaries increase. In years past, only the wealthy could afford to hire an interior
designer. With the expansion and popularization of the field, along with
significant reductions in the cost of materials, even modest-income families now
are able to hire interior designers. Many owners and occupants of professional
and residential complexes are turning to professional interior designers to shape
their spaces. There is also significant age-pressure in the industry, and a
significant number of interior designers are expected to retire soon. This will
open additional positions for younger interior designers. Some different majors
for aspiring interior designers are Art, Interior Architecture, Drawing, and Interior/
Furniture Design.
11. Film editors assemble footage of feature films, television shows,
documentaries, and industrials into an end product. They manipulate
plot, score, sound, and graphics to refine the overall story into a great
end product that people will love. Editors are able to express themselves
through their unique styles. Film editors work closely with sound editors
and musical directors as the film nears completion. Beginning film
editors are expected to bring some expertise in computer editing tools.
They get their first on-site training in the technical skills of editing,
cutting, splicing, and seamlessly integrating different scenes. Long hours
and low pay are diminished by a rapid learning curve. Collaborate with
sound and music editors to gain networks of contracts. After five years
film editors are expected to have gained more responsibilities, a network
of contacts, and enough editing experience to begin a solo career. Pay,
responsibilities, and hours increase. After ten years a film editor now has
a solid reputation, a healthy paycheck, and reasonable hours. Most work
as independent contractors, editing films and video releases of films.
Some editors act as consultants to other editors. In 1980, a feature film
had one film editor assigned to it, now, with the increasing complexity of
film editing, graphic overlays, computer animation sequences, and rising
budgets, an average of nine editors are attached to each feature film.
Most career opportunities for editors are found in Los Angeles and New
York. Many majors associated with Film Editing are Game
Design, English Composition, Film, Animation and Special Effects,
Computer Graphics, Play/Screenwriting, and Cinematography and Film/
Video Production.

want to place their products and services in front of audiences
they know are watching, listening, or even driving by on the
road. They are responsible for putting ads in the right place at
the right time, reaching the desired audience. Media planners
gather information on the people’s viewing and reading
habits. Media planners have to know demographics and
statistics, using extensive formulas to chart out the best way a
business can spend their money in order to get their product
in front of the public. Media planners have to know math.
Advertising is a high stress business, but the monetary
reward of seeing your work pay off for the client can be well
worth. Most media planners start out helping to work on large
projects or taking on smaller tasks under the supervision of
the senior level planners. A lot of hard work and long hours
are put in for the first two years. Media planners with five
years experience take on bigger projects, and usually oversee
the assistant planners. With ten years experience a senior
media planner may be called upon to take on larger projects
with prestigious national clients. Media planner positions are
expected to grow faster than average over the next decade.
With more jobs becoming available, the savvy media planner
needs to know how to distinguish the best format for their
client. Media planners may find a shortage of jobs if
government legislation restricts advertising for specific
products such as alcoholic beverages or specific media such
as billboards. Different majors a media planner can take are
Adverting, Business Communications, Mass Communications
and Public Relations.
