11. • How to deliver Earth observation data nowadays ?
• How to efficiently help users for data exploitation ?
• How to better promote exploitation results ?
– In particular: EO-based value-added products
• Ground Motion Velocity Maps
• Displacement Time-series, …
18. SaaS “Software-as-a-Service”
– Offer your EO processor on the platform as a Service
– With your data selection
PaaS “Platform-as-a-Service”
– Cloud Sandboxes “processor incubation chambers”
– Extension capacity HPC cluster
– Catalogue for EO dataset and time series
– Data Storage for mirroring or caching data
Cloud Platform
19. Data Agency

20. • Satellite sensors => increasing amounts of data.
• Researchers need more computational science tools and services !
• With GEP, scientists access different data types, relevant to the
same area and phenomena, and directly stage selected inputs to
scalable processing applications that deliver EO-based science
products.
• Concept of operation : improved collaboration
– A user can access large data repositories
– A user can bring its processing tools
– A user can use from his workspace other shared toolboxes.
• Openness: GEP is based on Open Source Software components, on
a Cloud Services architecture, is associating the scientific
community and SMEs in implementing new capabilities.

Today we come back to the “Thematic Exploitation Platform” for geohazards. Its the result of 12 months prototyping that brings you the first ecosystem addressing a variety of EO-related scientific challenges, that demonstrates the value of scientific exploitation of EO data, community building, and rapid development and benchmarking of algorithms. It explores innovative funding and business models to ensure sustainability and elaborates a vision for wider “smart” exploitation of EO data to maximize the scientific return of ESA missions.
First ,the platform refers to an environment providing a user community interested in a common Earth Science Topic.
It gathers many skills in earth science application domain. Scientists provide their algorithms and integrate them as services with the support of the software engineers that design and develop toll boxes for the formers. Data providers feed indexed database with datasets of various type and nature such as satellite acquisition. Resources providers provision the processing platform with high processing capacity infrastructure. Even people out of the field may find interest in reading the publications such as journalist by sharing them via the social networks.

Exploitation to deal with very fast access to large volume of data (EO/non-space data), computing resources (e.g. hybrid cloud/grid), processing software (e.g. toolboxes, RTMs, retrieval baselines, visualization routines), and general platform capabilities (e.g. user management and access control, accounting, information
portal, collaborative tools, social networks etc.).
Thematic
Thematic because it focuses on a specific field of the domain and thus provide a complete work environment for you, enabling you to effectively perform data-intensive research by running dedicated processing software, thereby avoiding spending non-research time on developing ICT tools, sourcing data, etc.
In this case of this portal thematic, data and tools are specifically targeted for GeoHazard community with data and tool to do rapid response processing, study the consequences of natural disasters or global strength.
Search context, event based search, interferometric search,
EO processing services: ran as an EO processor on the platform (ready to use “software-as-a-service”, SaaS), and with integration / extension capacity (“platform-as-a-service capabilities”, or PaaS).
