• 46 year old
female, missing
since 2/5/13, no
previous missing
reports. Suffers
from depression
and has left a
suicide note.
Missing Persons & Suicide
• From 1/4/2012 to 3/5/2013 19
people reported missing
committed suicide.
• 15 male and 4 were female
• 8 were by hanging
• 3 by drowning
• 1 drove vehicle off a cliff
• 2 jumped off bridge/motorway
• 1Dignitas Clinic Switzerland

5. The Samaritans and Bury Police Public
Protection Investigation Unit Referral Scheme
PPIU Referral Scheme to Samaritans
“I found out Samaritans aren’t just for when you
feel like ending it all………..”
• The Police will talk to them about whether Samaritans might be able to help.
If they think we can, then Police let the Samaritans know and they will ring
them.
• Police assure them they needn’t worry; what they say is confidential. We
don’t pass on anything to other agencies (including the Police).
• They are in control! They may change their mind about talking with the
Samaritans and they will respect that.
They can also phone Samaritans
