Generic Aleve (Naprosyn Tablets) provides fast
acting relief for headache, backache, muscular
aches and pains, minor pain of arthritis, rheumatoid
arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis,
toothache, period pain, chronic pain states with
inflammatory component and acute migraine attack.
Generic Aleve also reduces fever and may also be
used to to treat Paget's disease of bone.

The active pharmaceutical ingredient

Recommended Dosage
Chronic Conditions:(Osteoarthritis / Rheumatoid
arthritis / Ankylosing spondylitis / Chronic pain
states in which there is an inflammatory
component)
The dosage of Generic Aleve (Naprosyn Tablets)
ranges from 375 mg to 1000 mg daily in two divided
doses. The starting dose should not be less than
500 mg daily and may be varied stepwise within the
range of 375 mg to 1000 mg daily, maintaining twice
daily administration for long term maintenance,
depending on the requirements of the patient.

Recommended Dosage
Acute Conditions:(Acute pain states in which
there is an inflammatory component)
The recommended dose of Generic Aleve
(Naprosyn Tablets) is 500 mg initially followed by
250 mg every six to eight hours as required. The
total daily dose should not exceed 1250 mg.

Contraindications
Generic Aleve (Naprosyn Tablets) is
contraindicated in patients with the following
conditions:
➔Hypersensitivity to Naproxen Sodium, or any
inactive component of this medication.
➔By patients in whom acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin)
or other anti-inflammatory and pain relieving drugs
have induced allergic reactions.
➔By patients with a stomach or intestinal ulcer or
other stomach disorders, or who have impaired
kidney function and heart failure.

7. Generic Aleve Tablets
Side Effects of Generic Aleve
The most common possible side effects of
Generic Aleve tablets are abdominal discomfort,
constipation, swelling, heartburn, stomach
discomfort and indigestion, ringing in the ears,
dizziness, nausea and headache, oedema,
dyspnoea, itching (pruritis), skin eruption,
ecchymoses, drowsiness, and laboured
breathing.

Warnings And Precautions
➔Cardiovascular Thrombotic Events: NSAIDs may be
associated with an increased risk of serious
cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction and
stroke, which may increase with dose or duration of use.
Patients with cardiovascular disease or cardiovascular risk
factors may also be at greater risk.
➔Hypertension: NSAIDs may lead to onset of new
hypertension or worsening of preexisting hypertension and
patients taking antihypertensives with NSAIDs may have
an impaired antihypertensive response. Caution is advised
when prescribing NSAIDs to patients with hypertension.
Blood pressure should be monitored closely during
initiation of NSAID treatment and at regular intervals
thereafter.

Warnings And Precautions
➔Heart Failure: Fluid retention and oedema have been
observed in some patients taking NSAIDs, therefore,
caution is advised in patients with fluid retention or heart
failure.
➔Generic Aleve should not be taken, except under close
supervision of a doctor, by patients with a history of
disease of the stomach or of the intestines (e.g. ulcer).
Stomach and intestinal pain should not be treated with
Generic Aleve.
➔Generic Aleve should be taken under medical supervision
if you have blood coagulation disorders or are receiving
drug therapy that interferes with blood coagulation.

Warnings And Precautions
➔Generic Aleve (Naproxen Sodium) should not be
taken with other anti-inflammatory drugs (including
other naproxen and naproxen sodium presentations)
and pain relieving drugs except under a doctor's
direction.

11. Generic Aleve Tablets
Overdose Symptoms
Significant overdose of Generic Aleve
(Naproxen Sodium) may be characterised by
dizziness, drowsiness, epigastric pain,
abdominal discomfort, indigestion, transient
alterations in liver function,
hypoprothrombinaemia, renal dysfunction,
metabolic acidosis, apnoea, disorientation,
nausea or vomiting. It is not known what dose of
naproxen would be life threatening.

12. Generic Aleve Tablets
Overdose Symptoms
Gastrointestinal bleeding may occur.
Hypertension, acute renal failure, respiratory
depression and coma may occur after the
ingestion of NSAIDs, and may occur following
an overdose.
Anaphylactoid reactions have been reported
with therapeutic ingestion of NSAIDs, and may
occur following an overdose.

13. Generic Aleve Tablets
Overdose Treatment
Patients should be managed by symptomatic
and supportive care following NSAIDs overdose.
There are no specific antidotes. Prevention of
further absorption (e.g. activated charcoal) may
be indicated in symptomatic patients seen within
4 hours of ingestion or following a large
overdose.
