Generic Bactroban Ointment (T-Bact
Ointment) is used for the treatment of certain
types of skin infections such as impetigo,
infection of the hair root and boils. It is also
used when infection occurs in skin damaged
by eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, herpes
(cold sores), wounds, cuts, grazes, insect
bites, minor burns etc.

Active Ingredient
The active ingredient present in T-Bact
Ointment (Generic Bactroban) is
Mupirocin Calcium USP equivalent to
2% w/w mupirocin free acid.

4. Generic Bactroban Ointment
Recommended Dosage
The recommended dosage for
T-Bact Ointment (Generic Bactroban) is
given below:
Adults / Children / Elderly :
3 times a day for up to 10 days, depending
on the response.
Hepatic impairment:
No dosage adjustment is necessary.
Renal impairment:
No dosage adjustment is necessary.

5. Generic Bactroban Ointment
Method of Administration
A small quantity of Mupirocin Calcium
ointment 2% (T-Bact Ointment) should
he applied to the affected area with a
piece of clean cotton wool or gauze
swab three times daily. The treated
area may be covered by a dressing if
necessary.

Missed Dose
If you forget an application, apply
some ointment as soon as you
remember.
However, if you remember when it is
almost time for your next dose, take
only your usual dose at that time.

Contraindications
Generic Bactroban Ointment is
contraindicated in the following cases:
➔Known hypersensitivity to Mupirocin
Calcium or any inactive ingredients of this
medication.

Storage Instructions
Generic Bactroban (T-Bact Ointment)
may be stored in a cool place (below
25°C). Do not freeze.

9. Generic Bactroban Ointment
Side Effects of T-Bact Ointment
The most commonly reported side
effects are Itching, Dryness, Burning,
Redness, Stinging, Pain and Swelling.
Inform your doctor immediately if you
notice any of the following:
Wheezing, swelling of the lips/mouth,
difficulty in breathing, hayfever, lumpy
rash (hives) or fainting. These could by a
symptom of an allergic reaction.

Warnings And Precautions
➔This mupirocin ointment formulation is not suitable
for ophthalmic use, intranasal use, use in conjunction
with cannulae, at the site of central venous
cannulation.
➔Avoid contact with eyes. If contaminated, the eyes
should be thoroughly washed with water until the
ointment residues have been removed.
➔In the rare event of a possible sensitisation reaction
or severe local irritation occurring with the use of
mupirocin ointment, treatment should be
discontinued.

11. Generic Bactroban Ointment
Pregnancy and Lactation
Pregnancy: Adequate human data on use
during pregnancy are not available.
However, animal studies have not identified
any risk to pregnancy or embryo-foetal
development.
Lactation: Adequate human and animal
data on use during lactation are not
available. If a cracked nipple is to be
treated, it should be thoroughly washed
prior to breast feeding.
