Essay on The Book of Romans
The Book of Romans
Romans is a very important addition to the Bible. This is written by Paul to the Roman church.
Much of Romans is showing the righteousness of God in different ways. "Romans road" passages
are a great description of how to lead someone to christ (His saving righteousness). Falling into this
importance is Romans 3:21–26. This is the basis of
God's righteousness in the Death of Jesus (Schreiner p.25).
Refering to the different versions of this text, there is not much of a variation. Several words and
phrases are changed but the same meaning is kept. The two versions of the text which will be
shown as examples are the New
International Version (NIV) and the New American Standard
(NAS). Others...show more content...
Paul wrote to the Romans from
Corinth during his three month stay. Paul was on a missionary trip passing through the east and
was on his way to Rome. It was one of two letters; One to Rome and the other to Ephesus. They
must have already had churches started in Rome because "We can safely assume that the church was
not planted by an apostle"(Schreiner pg.11). The
Church was most probably started by Jewish Christians. Thus leading into the text.
The literary context is thought to be easily identified. The target text is part of a letter which is
written in the same genre as the rest of Paul's letters.
"The style of Romans fits with Paul's other letters that are accepted as authentic..."(Schreiner pg.2).
The text also fits in very easily with the rest of the scripture around it. It starts off the section about
the saving righteousness of God which continues from there
(3:21–4:25).
The theological context is very broad since Biblical principles are built from the target text. There
are many texts which involve salvation in the Scripture. Some of the obvious texts are John 3:16,
Ephesians 1:4–8, some other parts of the "Romans road", and the list goes on. This is due to the fact
that there are many different parts of texts which also add to the Salvation texts but are not directly
related. Salvation is the most important concept in theology. It is the key concept which opens up
the rest of the scriptures.

The Notebook Essay example
The Notebook is a phenomenal film with incredible performances and many heartfelt moments
from beginning to end. It is a love story that many of us fantasize of living someday. The story
unfolds in recent times at a Nursing home with the introduction of an elderly lady (Gena
Rowlands) who is being visited by an old man, known as Duke (James Garner), who also resides
in the nursing home, and he's there to read her a story. He begins to read about a young girl named
Allie (Rachel McAdams) who was visiting a cousin one summer in the late 1940s. Allie was a
beautiful teenage girl who eventually caught the eye of Noah (Ryan Gosling), her cousin's
boyfriend's best friend. Initially, she showed no interest in Noah, considering the fact...show more

The film?s setting was in present and past scenarios, which made it very interesting. As the old
man Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the story began to climax, he would be interrupted by
someone in the nursing staff, bringing them back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a
sense of curiosity as I began to wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will
soon be fulfilled as the story develops, and the two plots start to intertwine. The director of this
film did a fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just enough time to
figure out their relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late that the story got boring or
confusing. He also made very good use of underscoring (background music with no apparent
source) in a previous scene where Allie and Noah where dancing alone in the middle on nowhere,
to the sounds of Billie Holiday. This particular shot was a three minute continuous shot taken with
a camera on a 300ft dolly track. The actors and actresses in this film did a remarkable job in
playing their roles. The language and wardrobe fit the perfect description of a 40?s teenager.
Now, this is what I call a love story. Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is most
definitely the way a love story should be. This story doesn?t just say happily ever after at the end, it
actually takes you there. Works Cited The Notebook. Directed by Nick Cassavetes.

The Pact Essay
The Pact
The novel The Pact which was read over the summer by Penn State students was considered
interesting to some and dull to others. I personally enjoyed the book since I could relate to the book
in more ways than one. The story takes pace in an inner city setting with three young men who
become doctors and plan to give back to the community in any way they possibly can. The three
young men are known as Sam, George and Rameck. Each of these characters posses a different
personality which contributes to the book as a whole.
Throughout the book I felt connected to one character, that character was George. George and I
share similar qualities and our lifestyles can relate. One major characteristic I found in George is his
ability...show more content...
He constantly reminded them of the benefits of graduating from college and succeeding in what
they wanted to do. Sam and Rameck might have had other options but their plans would not be
beneficial in the long run. Some of these options included, starting a rap group, selling drugs back in
their home town, and playing basketball. These might have sounded good at first but they would
only last for a certain time. Graduating from college with that degree and helping out those in need
was more of a priority and turned out to be a better plan, the key plan during that time was to follow
through with their higher education.
While George and I share same social aspects we also share some personal aspects with each
other. Like George, I was left without a father figure in my life. George's father and my father left
around the same time in our lives, which I find particularly interesting. Our fathers left when we
were between the ages of seven and ten years old. As our fathers left we were looked at as the
"man of the house" in our household. This might seem like a big responsibility for young boys our
age but, we established ways to make a positive result for ourselves and those affected by the
situation.
George tried his best to help his mom out in any way possible. He helped

Books vs Ebooks Essay
Now days with the rise of digital technology many physical items such as pen and paper are
slowly being replaced by computers and smart phones. But is this really a good thing? I read
books and of course so do many other people in this class and around the globe. But since the
creation of 'e–readers' more and more people have been converting to the technology based side of
reading. Although technology is slowly becoming more predominant in this era we should not rely
on it to always entertain and keep us occupied.
I think 'real, physical' books are better than e–books because you can truly own a book. As Mortimer
J. Adler, a popular author, says, 'Full ownership comes only when you have made [the book] a part

Of course that's not strictly true–you can loan your book by loaning your reading device, but that's
like giving someone access to one of your books by loaning them an entire library, book cases and

And books are a tactile experience, meaning they are supposed to be experienced through touch
and smell (especially for the old books). A book is meant to be an experience that can have
depressions and elevations on the cover and text, feeling the weight of the pages as you turn them
and all of these elements when combined make a book what it is, but when you read an e–book you
are exposed to digitized text and a screen. And it's been proven that when people are exposed to
screens of TVs or computers they are less likely to have a good night sleep. On a web poll about
e–books vs. books one person commented, 'I've tried reading a few e–books but I've always given

even the smell of books,' many of the following comments made by others agreed with this persons

A book is a single–task item that is written to distract the reader from everything else happening

however, tends to be a multi–tasking item with the ability to play music and videos as well as hold
books. The iPad has a reading function but the focus is

Essay about The Book Of Daniel
The Book of Daniel The Book of Daniel took place in between 605 BC and 530 BC however the
message is still relevant in today's society, 2544 years later. Different themes are found in the
book. These themes teach a lesson which can be used into today's society. Even though the times,
tradition and circumstances are different now than it was back then the messages are greatly
relevant. The main themes of the book were about faithfulness toward what you believe in no
matter what society says or the dangers. God is trustworthy and does everything for a reason no
matter if the person is in the worst spot ever in life they have to believe there is something better in
the future. Also Gods ability to save his children in the face of danger and...show more content...

eat the junk they wanted him to eat. "8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal

God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel, 10 but the official told
Daniel, "I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your[c] food and drink. Why should he
see people looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head
because of you."" (Daniel 1:8–10) It was beyond normal for anyone to refuse royal food and it was
hard to talk them into letting him eat vegetables and drink water. He proves in just a matter of ten
days that drinking water instead of wine every day and eating vegetables instead of the royal food
treats the body better and healthier. "14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.15 At the
end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate
the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and
gave them vegetables instead." (Daniel 1: 14–16) Later Daniel impresses King Darius and receives a
promotion, which causes jealousy in the other wise men. They then talk the King into making a new
rule where they had to worship Darius every day. Daniel had to then again go against

The Book of Genesis Essay
The Book of Genesis
Genesis tells us that; in the beginning, God created the heavens, separated light from dark, and
gave earth life. God also created two trees in the Garden of Eden. One was the "tree of life" and the
other was the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil." Adam was given life for the first time, and as
a special gift, God created Eve. Moreover, God gave mankind freewill, allowing them to do
whatever they pleased, so although God had forbidden Adam and Eve to touch the tree of
knowledge of good and evil, He knew that it was their own choice whether or not to obey Him.

When it came time to give offerings to the Lord, Cain gathered some fruit while Able sacrificed
his firstling. The Lord accepted Abel's offering, but had no regard for Cain's fruit. Cain was very
upset that The Lord did not accept his offering for it was all that he had and did not know how to
express his rage (Genesis 4:3–5). The Lord asks Cain why he is angered by this and explains, "...if
you do not do well, sin is lurking at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it"
(Genesis 4.7). Cain ignores the Lord's advice and let his WRATH take control. He murders his
brother, his own flesh and blood, because he could not control his anger. Often people tend to act
irrationally when they are angered. God is disappointed in Cain's decision and curses him making
him a fugitive to all.
As time went by, people grew egotistical, thinking that they were equal to the Lord. All the people
united in the land of Shi'nar and settled there. They came to a decision to build "a tower with its

his power by building a tower and making a name for themselves (Genesis 11:4). Mankind's PRIDE
was growing fast, and He saw chaos and destruction ahead.

Dearest There was a hazy, dim light in the bar, the kind of light one can only see when they should
be asleep. The oil lamps were burning, the drunks were sleeping, and the young men in the corner
were silent. Their conversation had started off like a tap gushing out water, filling the cup until it
overflowed and left pools of water on the table. It was needless to say that the topic had been
politics – and that they all had the same view. Before long, the pipes froze and the tap managed a
thin drizzle before drying up completely. Josef and Heinrich sat slumped over the table, their heads
buried in their arms. Karl and Otto sat upright, not moving at all. The last of them however, was

falling over his eyes as he did so. He began to open his eye lids, only to panic and sit up so quickly
he almost knocked a glass from the table. Klaus shushed him and cast a worried glance at Herr
Peter, who luckily only twitched before falling still again. Heinrich sighed and put his head in his
hands as if to mute a headache, "How late is it, Chris?" he groaned. "I'd say around four" "Is it
snowing outside?" "Yes" "How much?" "I don't know" "How can you know it's been snowing if
you don't know how much?" "I saw out the door as Josef left" "Josef left?" "Do you see him
now?" "Bastard". Klaus let out a small laugh that was as dainty as the fingers that held his
cigarettes. Heinrich dropped his hands and smiled widely at Klaus, his eyes laughing more than he
ever would. Even in the partial, smoky light, Heinrich's eyes still managed to glimmer with
warmth, as if he was looking at a sunset. "How do you do that Henrik?" Klaus muttered, lighting a
cigarette. "Do what?" "With your eyes. How do they look so damn beautiful all the time?" There
was a long silence. Klaus' heart stopped.

What Is A Good Book Essay
First of all, what does it take for a book to be considered a "good book?" A good book is something
that is well–written and something that can give us new wisdom which we can apply in our lives
and in our reality. According to Meagan Frank of Books Make a Difference, A good book is more
than just a well–written story. A good book is a treasure trove of humanity so that no matter how
often you open a page and start reading, there is still something new to be discovered. A good
book is considered a great literature. A good book is not only that type of book which tells the
reader to do something that is right. A good book is a book that even if there are biases, crimes,
explicit thoughts and words, timely and relevant events and the like, it...show more content...
As we continue to read more books it is like we continue to experience and do things that are new to
us. We learn through experience, experience that we get through reading. In Anne E. Cunningham
and Keith E. Stanovich's "What Reading Does for the Mind", it was stated there that heavy readers
tend to display greater knowledge of how things work and who or what people were. In line with
this, our conversation skills are improved as well because by knowing a lot of new information,
we are able to engage in an academic or scholarly conversation wherein we share to other people
what we know. In Mario Vargas Llosa's essay 'Why literature?' he stated that Literature establishes a
'brotherly link' that connects all human beings with a common origin that transcends all temporal
barriers. Good books can teach us the customs that we are not familiar with, the norms and
ideologies of another ethnicity. In that sense, Literature could serve as a unifying factor among all
people, overthrowing stereotypes that gave birth to cultural discrimination, racism and inequity
between individuals. At the same time, just like how Literature allows us to appreciate diverse
cultures across the world, good books help us to understand different generations of our

Reflective Essay On The Book Speak
My love for the book Speak helped me realize kids don't speak up on a lot of things in school and
outside of school. As a little girl every summer my aunt had a summer camp and I always
attended. One summer was very challenging for me I can remember leaving out of the 3rd grade
and my teacher told my mother to make sure I read over the summer. Honestly, I was young and
didn't think my mother would remember and she told my aunt. As I started summer camp every day
before I could play I had to read. It was so terrible because all the other kids were playing but me.
All the books I was reading was for 4th graders and I didn't read like I was supposed to because I

lesson too always speak up no matter what. Towards the ending of the book I realize how speaking

While working with them I noticed some will participate while others cry for their parents. I
debated with myself on how I could help them learn and have fun with them at the same time. I
made up ABC games and gave coloring sheets which some liked. Since they where so young

Essay on The Book of Esther
The Persian Empire is arguably one of the greatest and largest empires ever in the history of the
world. It was in place from approximately 550 to 334 BCE in Asia Minor and Persia. Throughout
the time the empire was in place there were multiple kings that ruled it changing the cultures of
the people living in the empire. The Book of Ester is a book from the Hebrew Bible written
during the fourth century BCE that tells the story of a Persian king Achashvairosh. In the story
information is given on how Persian Kings were able rule their vast empire for such a long period
of time. The Persian Kings that ruled the Persian Empire were able to do their job successfully, deal
with problems they faced, and keep their empire culturally vast because...show more content...
The scrolls were king Achashvairosh's main way of communicating with his empire; he wanted
everyone to be able to understand them so he had them written in the individual providence's
language. These methods that Persian kings used to keep everyone informed on new laws were
very affective because of the way it was carried out and also the way the laws were written using
their advisors both made the empire successful. Running a successful empire is not easy thing to
do; Persian kings faced many problems such as advisors abusing their power and social issues.
Advisors of Persian kings had a great deal of influence on the kings and were trusted with power
over the empire. These attributes that came with the job of being an advisor to a Persian king
created an opportunity for corrupt advisors to do as they saw fit; right or wrong. In the Book of
Esther one of king Achashvairosh's advisors Haman took advantage of his power and influence
over the king to authorize the eradication of all the Jews in the empire and pillage of their
property. The reason that this came about is that "All of the king's servants in the king's court
would kneel and bow in religious worship to Haman, because the king had commanded it, but
Mordechai would neither bow nor kneel." (Five Years Later, 2)

Essay about Eliyahu M. Goldratt's The Goal
The Goal
Here are the principles behind the dramatic turnaround story in The Goal.
The goal of a manufacturing organization is to make money. Jonah poses this as a question: "What
is the goal?" and Rogo actually struggles with it for a day or two, but any manager or executive that
can't answer that question without hesitation should be fired without hesitation.
But then again, the goal isn't clear to everyone. One of the characters in the book, an accountant,
responds to an offhand comment about the goal with a confused "The goal? You mean our
objectives for the month?" That's sure to strike a chord with a lot of readers.
At an operational level, measure your success toward the goal with these three metrics:

Decrease the unit of work. If you've got people idle, you can afford to have them do their work in
smaller chunks. Under a cost–accounting model, this hurts their "efficiency" by removing certain
economies of scale. But you have much faster turn–around time. Everyone's more flexible. Work
flows more smoothly. (Well, this is what the book says.)

The Goal – A Process Engineering Novel
I read Eliyahu M. Goldratt's novel The Goal the other night, instead of sleeping.
The book has two parts. In the first 264 pages, a manufacturing plant manager turns his failing
plant into a tremendous success. That part of the book ends with the manager's promotion to a
position with oversight over several failing plants. In the second part of the book (73 pages), the
manager prepares for his new job by trying to deduce a repeatable "process of ongoing
improvement." He's trying to make sense of what happened in the first part of the book so he'll
have half a chance of repeating that success on a greater scale.
For now, I'll set aside considerations of why The Goal is a novel, how effective it is as a book,
whether it succeeds as literature, and so on. This article is primarily about the ideas behind the
book, and why some are valuable while others are probably quite useless.
How to Turn Around a Failing Plant
The first part of the book is about a manufacturing plant.

Concussion By Jeanne Marie Lask Summary
Concussion The book Concussion is written by Jeanne Marie Laska in 2015. This story is in the
midst of being a dramatic and a sports genre book. The author introduces the story with a descripted

when the backstory begins. The story is about an impactful cause of death that Bennet Omalu

truth no matter how hard it can be. It shows Bennet's true morals when deciding to publish his
findings because people deserve to know the reality. I would recommend this book 100% because
it is a nice in between of drama and sports. So good for those interested in sports, as well for those
who like the dramatic feel of books. It will keep a person locked in wanting to know how things
are going to turn out. Whether Doctor Bennet will break and retract his findings or how he will

of information that it gives and it will keep your eyes glued just wanting to know what will happen

Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson Essay
Speak is a cleaver and an ironic title for a story in which the main character chooses not to speak.
The story is written in first–person narration from the point of view of protagonist, Melinda

like excerpts from her personal diary during her miserable freshman year of high school. Instead of
blending in and finding her way through high school. She withdraws and secludes herself from the

her, except the new girl, Heather, who moved from the state of Ohio. Realistically, Heather being
the new girl just wants to make friends. Heather doesn't know what is really going on with
Melinda because she just moved to town. Heather has no idea what happened the night when
Melinda called the police, which busted a summer party. In fact, no one knows, except for
Melinda, what happened to her at the party? She is convinced that because she is a victim, no one
understands her. The whole world, including her world, is out to get her and so it is best for her
to remain silent. Ironically, the person Melinda finds as the outlet to help her express her
feelings is her art teacher, Mr. Freeman. In a class assignment, Melinda is assigned to create an art
project based on a tree. She begins to express her inner angst through this art project. At one point,
she uses dried bones to sculpt a picture of a skeleton. Then she glues broken knives and forks to
the project so that the bones look like the plastic utensils are stabbing them. It is a grim depiction of
how Melinda feels, and is immediately praised by Mr. Freeman.

Reflection Paper On Genesis
Genesis teaches us many things in regards to the natural world, human identity, human
relationships, and civilization. Genesis is the book that describes the beginning of the known
world. God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh, which we refer to as the
Sabbath. It tells the story of how animals and plants came to be. It tells us how we as the human race
came to be. It also gives us an insight into relationships and the human race and cohabiting the earth.
When God created heaven and earth, he wanted to also create those that would be a reflection to his
image. He wanted to create more and something that could be good to what he created in the
beginning. Earth was created by him and with doing that, he thought to create humankind that could
be good to the earth and be superior to everything around them. In Genesis 1:26–27, God talked
about how he created humankind within his image so that they would be like God. In Genesis
1:26–27, for humanity to be created in image of God, this meant that God wanted humankind
reflect the attributes his aspects of joy, love, peace, compassion and mercy the same as he did.
God is the ruler over the entire earth because he created it and he wants human kind to be that
ruling monarch over what he has created. God wants humankind to be good to what he has
created just as he is good to every living thing. Humankind is the summit of creation and was
created for good. God created humankind so that they could have a relationship with God. In order
for humankind to be in the image of God, they have to know God and what he resembles. God

Essay on Book of John
One of the major themes of the Book of John is to prove that Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of
God. What makes these miracles so special is the difficulty faced to create them and what each is
trying to teach. There are seven main miracles, seven being a significant number throughout the
bible, that are used to help better understand Jesus and his true identity. We can also find a last
miracle in His resurrection, which in itself is simply put that Jesus is a part of God because of
how impossible this action seemed. The last miracle is sometimes skipped as a sign that Jesus is
the Christ and Messiah. This book was written from true events which is why it is made important
and allows people to see who Jesus is. The reason...show more content...
They did not learn the lesson that John was getting at, and they could not realize that in front of
them stood Jesus, the true Messiah. No matter what miracle or action was done, their views could
not be turned around to believe in Jesus. The fourth sign involves Jesus multiplying bread and fish
which can be translated to mean that Jesus is the creative word. He is the giver of life, which is
what the bread would represent. Jesus proves himself to be greater than Moses by being the true
creator of man's provisions. Jesus points out that he can give physical life, but most importantly
give spiritual life because he is the true bread of life. The Messiah is expected to feed people
miraculously, which is exactly was Jesus does in the instance. This would then mean the people
recognized that he was a Messianic figure. Due to the misinterpretation because of the earthly
minds that people have, they wanted physical life and not the spiritual sense of it. Therefore, they
wanted to make Jesus an earthly king instead of the Messianic figure that he was. Jesus then had to
point out the true meaning of what he had done emphasizing that those who go to him in faith will
find life. False faith would mean that the people believed in the miracle but not in who Jesus truly
was. Receiving life through Jesus would illustrate a trusting response to him and who he truly was,
the son of God. Since God is nature and God knows all and controls all,

Harry Potter Essay
Harry Potter In the past couple years, there has been a growing phenomenon in the world of
children's literature, this phenomenon is Harry Potter. J.K. Rowlings series of novels about a
young wizard and his years at "Hogwarts School of Wizarding and Witchcraft," has become one
of the most successful children's book series of all time. Before reading any of the now four
novels, one may find it hard to believe that a children's novel may be so entertaining. But once one
starts reading any of the four books, it is plain to see why these books are so popular.
Before first reading a Harry Potter novel, I was skeptical that a children's book about an orphan
wizard going to school would be entertaining. But within 15 minutes I found...show more content...
Whether it is a fight for his life, winning a quidditch match, or just staying out of trouble, these
novels are anything but boring. This I believe, is one of the biggest reasons why these books
have been such a success, the author knows how to keep the story going at all times in order to
maintain the readers attention. Another factor which I believe has led to the novels success is that
while reading, the reader wishes that they could live in this fantasy world created by Rowling
where life is anything but ordinary. The novels make the reader somewhat desire a life like the one
led by the characters of the novels, like going to a school to learn wizarding, always having
extraordinary things happen and just being at Hogwarts seems like an unequaled joy for some.
These novels have the ability to reignite the long lost imaginations of adults, and keep the
imaginations of children strong.
Although I am a strong supporter of this book series, I do find one thing wrong with the books. All
the novels have endings which are almost the same, Harry saves the day and Voldemort the major
antagonist gets defeated in one way or another. Also only Harry and his friends seem to be the ones
who go on adventures to defeat huge beasts or save family members from monsters known as
dementors, this to me makes the novel slightly unappealing but still one of

Descriptive Essay On The Bookstore
The digital age has slowly allowed physical books to be replaced by electronic books and movies. In
the last decade, the decrease in demand for hard copy books have caused numerous bookstores to
pack their bags and go out of business. It took both hope and courage for Josh Spencer to open up
his very own bookstore. On the corner of 5th and Spring street, stood a towering 12–floor structure,
with what seemed like an apartment complex on top and a bookstore below, each made
distinguishable by a stone–flower pattern that bordered the edges of the building. The grey stone
structure had an antique architectural design. Massive windows enclosed by thin black frames
lined the building as rusted black iron gates were left ajar to welcome visitors. Located in the heart
of Los Angeles, The Spring Arts Tower houses the renowned shop, The Last Bookstore. As I walked
past the bright orange sign that indicated the storefront, beyond the iron gates, and through the glass
door, I found myself in a brightly lit four–cornered room. Each wall was painted with colorful
patterns of geometrical shapes. To my left, a cashier sat behind a counter, reading a yellowingbook.
An overflowing amount of magazines were seen on the opposite side waiting to be read.
The owner, Josh Spencer was sitting in his wheelchair, waiting by a second set of doors that led
into the bookstore itself. When he saw me, he wheeled out and greeted me with a warm smile. He
was a well–built man in his late thirties with

How To Write An Essay On The Book If I Stay
As a 17–year old girl, I enjoy reading romance books. Books that are full of emotion and leave one
crying by the end of the last page. Honestly, I think romance is the only genre I have read in quite
awhile. I recently read the book If I stay by Gayle Forman. A book that most definitely challenges
you to think about moving on, following your passion and continuing with life after a tragedy.
Something that isn't very common among the regular romance books. This was the kind of book
that showed the power of love and how strong it can really be. It was something different, and in my
opinion was a very good read.
The book If I stay by Gayle Forman is about a young girl named Mia, her brother, and her parents.
It starts out on a snowy day. The kids don't have school, so their parents call into work and they
decide to go out. They end up getting into a car crash leaving the parents dead, and Mia and her
brother in critical condition. Mia then enters a stage between death and life, and experiences an
out–of–body awareness. The book then continues with Mia reflecting her past and current life,
wondering if she should go or if she should stay.
Gayle Forman is a young adult fiction author, originally from Brooklyn, New York. She has two

The book will make you cry. One can really feel what Mia is going through and the struggles she
faces to make a decision to live or to die. I don't think it's an easy process for anyone and Forman
does an amazing job of describing how Mia is feeling while she has this out–of–body experience.
Mia just keeps wondering if her life is worth living for without her parents, and one can feel her
fear and sadness. Not in a bad way, instead in the way that makes one wonder what would one do
if you were to be confronted with a situation like this. Would you go? Would you stay? Either way,
it would be a very difficult decision to move on with

The Book of Exodus Essay
The book of Exodus is the second book of the Pentateuch, or Weelleh Shemoth according to the
Hebrew Bible. The books main theme is the removal of Hebrew people from Egypt. The book is
meant to be a continuation of Genesis. Moses is believed to be the author of this book. During
the period of Exodus Israel had been in Egypt for about 215 years. The book begins with the birth
of Moses. The book then goes on to talk about the life of Moses and the things that he did
throughout his life. The book also explains how the Hebrews were enslaved and then let free. The
book is divided into five sections. The first sections deals with the early life and training of Moses.
The second section explains the ten plagues. The third section...show more content...
According to my knowledge it seemed that God had great trust in Moses. He trusts him to lead his
people out of the hands of the Pharaoh. In Chapter 20, of the book of Exodus, the trust that God
has in Moses can be clearly demonstrated as God tells Moses to deliver his laws that he had made
for his people to follow. According to the novel The Story of the Old Testament these laws were
to be obeyed to be one with God. These laws were called the Ten Commandments and they were
the basic guidelines that the people had to follow. Furthermore, the laws of the Ten
Commandments were as follows. The first law stated that there should be no other gods before
God. The next law was there should be no graven images. The penalty for breaking this law was
that God would punish the children for the sins of their sins for many generations that follow. The
following law explained that no one should use the Lords name in vain. The next law states that
one should remember the Sabbath and keep its holy, which meant that one can have six days of
wok but they have to take one day off and dedicate it to praising the Lord. The next law explained
that one must honor their mother and father in order to obtain longevity in life. The following laws
stated that one should not kill, commit adultery, or steal. The next law explained that you should not

Expository Essay On The Book Thief
The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, is the story of a young girl named Liesel who after her little
brother dies is sent to live with her new foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. As she adjusts
to her new life she meets a boy named Rudy Steiner who she will become close friends with in the
future. Hans realizes that Liesel can not read so he teaches her start with a book that liesel stole
from her brother's burial. Her life gets simpler until her foster family takes in a Jew to hide him
from the Nazis. He eventually leaves because of the suspicion that Hans drew to himself by
giving a prisoner on his way to an internment camp some bread. Liesel keeps stealing books along
with Rudy, and the air raids occurring in her town begin to occur. One night a group of planes
bombed Liesel's street and killed her parents, Rudy, and everyone else on her street. "You
wouldn't think it, she wrote, but it was not so much the schooling who helped me to read. It was
Papa. People think he's not so smart, and it's true that he doesn't read too fast, but I would soon
learn that words and writing actually saved his life once. Or at least, words and a man who taught
him the accordion..." In this passage it is Liesel's thoughts written down. Before this passage Liesel
wet her bed during her daily nightmare. While Hans was removing her sheets to clean them he
found The Grave Digger's Manual, the book that Liesel had stolen when her brother died. Hans
asked her if she wanted to read it and then

Romans Road to Salvation

  • 1. Essay on The Book of Romans The Book of Romans Romans is a very important addition to the Bible. This is written by Paul to the Roman church. Much of Romans is showing the righteousness of God in different ways. "Romans road" passages are a great description of how to lead someone to christ (His saving righteousness). Falling into this importance is Romans 3:21–26. This is the basis of God's righteousness in the Death of Jesus (Schreiner p.25). Refering to the different versions of this text, there is not much of a variation. Several words and phrases are changed but the same meaning is kept. The two versions of the text which will be shown as examples are the New International Version (NIV) and the New American Standard (NAS). Others...show more content... Paul wrote to the Romans from Corinth during his three month stay. Paul was on a missionary trip passing through the east and was on his way to Rome. It was one of two letters; One to Rome and the other to Ephesus. They must have already had churches started in Rome because "We can safely assume that the church was not planted by an apostle"(Schreiner pg.11). The Church was most probably started by Jewish Christians. Thus leading into the text. The literary context is thought to be easily identified. The target text is part of a letter which is written in the same genre as the rest of Paul's letters. "The style of Romans fits with Paul's other letters that are accepted as authentic..."(Schreiner pg.2). The text also fits in very easily with the rest of the scripture around it. It starts off the section about the saving righteousness of God which continues from there (3:21–4:25). The theological context is very broad since Biblical principles are built from the target text. There are many texts which involve salvation in the Scripture. Some of the obvious texts are John 3:16, Ephesians 1:4–8, some other parts of the "Romans road", and the list goes on. This is due to the fact that there are many different parts of texts which also add to the Salvation texts but are not directly related. Salvation is the most important concept in theology. It is the key concept which opens up the rest of the scriptures. Just as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Notebook Essay example The Notebook is a phenomenal film with incredible performances and many heartfelt moments from beginning to end. It is a love story that many of us fantasize of living someday. The story unfolds in recent times at a Nursing home with the introduction of an elderly lady (Gena Rowlands) who is being visited by an old man, known as Duke (James Garner), who also resides in the nursing home, and he's there to read her a story. He begins to read about a young girl named Allie (Rachel McAdams) who was visiting a cousin one summer in the late 1940s. Allie was a beautiful teenage girl who eventually caught the eye of Noah (Ryan Gosling), her cousin's boyfriend's best friend. Initially, she showed no interest in Noah, considering the fact...show more content... The film?s setting was in present and past scenarios, which made it very interesting. As the old man Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the story began to climax, he would be interrupted by someone in the nursing staff, bringing them back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a sense of curiosity as I began to wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will soon be fulfilled as the story develops, and the two plots start to intertwine. The director of this film did a fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just enough time to figure out their relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late that the story got boring or confusing. He also made very good use of underscoring (background music with no apparent source) in a previous scene where Allie and Noah where dancing alone in the middle on nowhere, to the sounds of Billie Holiday. This particular shot was a three minute continuous shot taken with a camera on a 300ft dolly track. The actors and actresses in this film did a remarkable job in playing their roles. The language and wardrobe fit the perfect description of a 40?s teenager. Now, this is what I call a love story. Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is most definitely the way a love story should be. This story doesn?t just say happily ever after at the end, it actually takes you there. • 3. The Pact Essay The Pact The novel The Pact which was read over the summer by Penn State students was considered interesting to some and dull to others. I personally enjoyed the book since I could relate to the book in more ways than one. The story takes pace in an inner city setting with three young men who become doctors and plan to give back to the community in any way they possibly can. The three young men are known as Sam, George and Rameck. Each of these characters posses a different personality which contributes to the book as a whole. Throughout the book I felt connected to one character, that character was George. George and I share similar qualities and our lifestyles can relate. One major characteristic I found in George is his ability...show more content... He constantly reminded them of the benefits of graduating from college and succeeding in what they wanted to do. Sam and Rameck might have had other options but their plans would not be beneficial in the long run. Some of these options included, starting a rap group, selling drugs back in their home town, and playing basketball. These might have sounded good at first but they would only last for a certain time. Graduating from college with that degree and helping out those in need was more of a priority and turned out to be a better plan, the key plan during that time was to follow through with their higher education. While George and I share same social aspects we also share some personal aspects with each other. Like George, I was left without a father figure in my life. George's father and my father left around the same time in our lives, which I find particularly interesting. Our fathers left when we were between the ages of seven and ten years old. As our fathers left we were looked at as the "man of the house" in our household. This might seem like a big responsibility for young boys our age but, we established ways to make a positive result for ourselves and those affected by the situation. George tried his best to help his mom out in any way possible. He helped Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Books vs Ebooks Essay Now days with the rise of digital technology many physical items such as pen and paper are slowly being replaced by computers and smart phones. But is this really a good thing? I read books and of course so do many other people in this class and around the globe. But since the creation of 'e–readers' more and more people have been converting to the technology based side of reading. Although technology is slowly becoming more predominant in this era we should not rely on it to always entertain and keep us occupied. I think 'real, physical' books are better than e–books because you can truly own a book. As Mortimer J. Adler, a popular author, says, 'Full ownership comes only when you have made [the book] a part of yourself, and the best...show more content... Of course that's not strictly true–you can loan your book by loaning your reading device, but that's like giving someone access to one of your books by loaning them an entire library, book cases and all. And books are a tactile experience, meaning they are supposed to be experienced through touch and smell (especially for the old books). A book is meant to be an experience that can have depressions and elevations on the cover and text, feeling the weight of the pages as you turn them and all of these elements when combined make a book what it is, but when you read an e–book you are exposed to digitized text and a screen. And it's been proven that when people are exposed to screens of TVs or computers they are less likely to have a good night sleep. On a web poll about e–books vs. books one person commented, 'I've tried reading a few e–books but I've always given up. I just don't like looking at digitized text when I'm reading a novel. I like the feel, the weight and even the smell of books,' many of the following comments made by others agreed with this persons thoughts. A book is a single–task item that is written to distract the reader from everything else happening around them, they are technology designed for the best possible reading experience. An e–reader, however, tends to be a multi–tasking item with the ability to play music and videos as well as hold books. Different themes are found in the book. These themes teach a lesson which can be used into today's society. The main themes of the book were about faithfulness toward what you believe in no matter what society says or the dangers. God also created two trees in the Garden of Eden. One was the "tree of life" and the other was the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil." Adam was given life for the first time, and as a special gift, God created Eve. The Lord asks Cain why he is angered by this and explains, "...if you do not do well, sin is lurking at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it" (Genesis 4.7). Cain ignores the Lord's advice and let his WRATH take control. He murders his brother, his own flesh and blood, because he could not control his anger. The oil lamps were burning, the drunks were sleeping, and the young men in the corner were silent. Their conversation had started off like a tap gushing out water, filling the cup until it overflowed and left pools of water on the table. It was needless to say that the topic had been politics – and that they all had the same view. Before long, the pipes froze and the tap managed a thin drizzle before drying up completely. Klaus shushed him and cast a worried glance at Herr Peter, who luckily only twitched before falling still again. Heinrich sighed and put his head in his hands as if to mute a headache, "How late is it, Chris?" he groaned. "I'd say around four" "Is it snowing outside?" "Yes" "How much?" "I don't know" "How can you know it's been snowing if you don't know how much?" "I saw out the door as Josef left" "Josef left?" "Do you see him now?" "Bastard". Klaus let out a small laugh that was as dainty as the fingers that held his cigarettes. Heinrich dropped his hands and smiled widely at Klaus, his eyes laughing more than he ever would. Even in the partial, smoky light, Heinrich's eyes still managed to glimmer with warmth, as if he was looking at a sunset. "How do you do that Henrik?" Klaus muttered, lighting a cigarette. "Do what?" "With your eyes. How do they look so damn beautiful all the time?" There was a long silence. Klaus' heart stopped. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. What Is A Good Book Essay First of all, what does it take for a book to be considered a "good book?" A good book is something that is well–written and something that can give us new wisdom which we can apply in our lives and in our reality. According to Meagan Frank of Books Make a Difference, A good book is more than just a well–written story. A good book is a treasure trove of humanity so that no matter how often you open a page and start reading, there is still something new to be discovered. A good book is considered a great literature. A good book is not only that type of book which tells the reader to do something that is right. A good book is a book that even if there are biases, crimes, explicit thoughts and words, timely and relevant events and the like, it...show more content... As we continue to read more books it is like we continue to experience and do things that are new to us. We learn through experience, experience that we get through reading. In Anne E. Cunningham and Keith E. Stanovich's "What Reading Does for the Mind", it was stated there that heavy readers tend to display greater knowledge of how things work and who or what people were. In line with this, our conversation skills are improved as well because by knowing a lot of new information, we are able to engage in an academic or scholarly conversation wherein we share to other people what we know. In Mario Vargas Llosa's essay 'Why literature?' he stated that Literature establishes a 'brotherly link' that connects all human beings with a common origin that transcends all temporal barriers. Good books can teach us the customs that we are not familiar with, the norms and ideologies of another ethnicity. In that sense, Literature could serve as a unifying factor among all people, overthrowing stereotypes that gave birth to cultural discrimination, racism and inequity between individuals. At the same time, just like how Literature allows us to appreciate diverse cultures across the world, good books help us to understand different generations of our Get more content on HelpWriting.net

As a little girl every summer my aunt had a summer camp and I always attended. One summer was very challenging for me I can remember leaving out of the 3rd grade and my teacher told my mother to make sure I read over the summer. Honestly, I was young and didn't think my mother would remember and she told my aunt. As I started summer camp every day before I could play I had to read. It was so terrible because all the other kids were playing but me. All the books I was reading was for 4th graders and I didn't read like I was supposed to because I didn't know the words and didn't ask for help on top of that I was young and so in a rush to play with the other kids. When I was in the 7th grade my teacher introduce us to a book called Speak. This book really caught my eye because in the book I learned a lesson too always speak up no matter what. Towards the ending of the book I realize how speaking up changed so much in her life. When I got order I told myself I would help kids learn and speak up. I did exactly what I said I was going to do so I applied for a summer job with the Chicago Park District. Now for 3 years I've been working for the Chicago Park District. I usually pick the age group 6–7 year old but my 3rd year I picked ages 3–5 year olds. This was a challenge I didn't expect. While working with them I noticed some will participate while others cry for their parents. I debated with myself on how I could help them learn and have fun with them at the same time. I made up ABC games and gave coloring sheets which some liked. Since they where so young Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay on The Book of Esther The Persian Empire is arguably one of the greatest and largest empires ever in the history of the world. It was in place from approximately 550 to 334 BCE in Asia Minor and Persia. Throughout the time the empire was in place there were multiple kings that ruled it changing the cultures of the people living in the empire. The Book of Ester is a book from the Hebrew Bible written during the fourth century BCE that tells the story of a Persian king Achashvairosh. In the story information is given on how Persian Kings were able rule their vast empire for such a long period of time. The Persian Kings that ruled the Persian Empire were able to do their job successfully, deal with problems they faced, and keep their empire culturally vast because...show more content... The scrolls were king Achashvairosh's main way of communicating with his empire; he wanted everyone to be able to understand them so he had them written in the individual providence's language. These methods that Persian kings used to keep everyone informed on new laws were very affective because of the way it was carried out and also the way the laws were written using their advisors both made the empire successful. Running a successful empire is not easy thing to do; Persian kings faced many problems such as advisors abusing their power and social issues. Advisors of Persian kings had a great deal of influence on the kings and were trusted with power over the empire. These attributes that came with the job of being an advisor to a Persian king created an opportunity for corrupt advisors to do as they saw fit; right or wrong. In the Book of Esther one of king Achashvairosh's advisors Haman took advantage of his power and influence over the king to authorize the eradication of all the Jews in the empire and pillage of their property. The reason that this came about is that "All of the king's servants in the king's court would kneel and bow in religious worship to Haman, because the king had commanded it, but Mordechai would neither bow nor kneel." • 11. Essay about Eliyahu M. Goldratt's The Goal The Goal Here are the principles behind the dramatic turnaround story in The Goal. The goal of a manufacturing organization is to make money. Jonah poses this as a question: "What is the goal?" and Rogo actually struggles with it for a day or two, but any manager or executive that can't answer that question without hesitation should be fired without hesitation. But then again, the goal isn't clear to everyone. One of the characters in the book, an accountant, responds to an offhand comment about the goal with a confused "The goal? You mean our objectives for the month?" That's sure to strike a chord with a lot of readers. At an operational level, measure your success toward the goal with these three metrics: Throughput...show more content... Decrease the unit of work. If you've got people idle, you can afford to have them do their work in smaller chunks. Under a cost–accounting model, this hurts their "efficiency" by removing certain economies of scale. But you have much faster turn–around time. Everyone's more flexible. Work flows more smoothly. (Well, this is what the book says.) jorendorff.com > Articles > The Goal The Goal – A Process Engineering Novel I read Eliyahu M. Goldratt's novel The Goal the other night, instead of sleeping. The book has two parts. In the first 264 pages, a manufacturing plant manager turns his failing plant into a tremendous success. That part of the book ends with the manager's promotion to a position with oversight over several failing plants. In the second part of the book (73 pages), the manager prepares for his new job by trying to deduce a repeatable "process of ongoing improvement." He's trying to make sense of what happened in the first part of the book so he'll have half a chance of repeating that success on a greater scale. For now, I'll set aside considerations of why The Goal is a novel, how effective it is as a book, whether it succeeds as literature, and so on. This article is primarily about the ideas behind the book, and why some are valuable while others are probably quite useless. How to Turn Around a Failing Plant The first part of the book is about a manufacturing plant.

It shows Bennet's true morals when deciding to publish his findings because people deserve to know the reality. I would recommend this book 100% because it is a nice in between of drama and sports. So good for those interested in sports, as well for those who like the dramatic feel of books. It will keep a person locked in wanting to know how things are going to turn out. • 14. Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson Essay Speak is a cleaver and an ironic title for a story in which the main character chooses not to speak. The story is written in first–person narration from the point of view of protagonist, Melinda Sordino. Speak is written like an interior monologue in the mind of an introverted teenage girl, like excerpts from her personal diary during her miserable freshman year of high school. Instead of blending in and finding her way through high school. She withdraws and secludes herself from the other students. She calls herself an "outcast." Melinda is so desperate to hide from the world; she turns an old janitor's closet at the high school into her safe haven. She cuts classes to hide in her closet. There doesn't seem to be a place where Melinda fits in. Where does a girl who has been sexually assaulted fit–in? Melinda isn't speaking to anyone, and no one will talk to her, except the new girl, Heather, who moved from the state of Ohio. Realistically, Heather being the new girl just wants to make friends. Heather doesn't know what is really going on with Melinda because she just moved to town. Heather has no idea what happened the night when Melinda called the police, which busted a summer party. In fact, no one knows, except for Melinda, what happened to her at the party? She is convinced that because she is a victim, no one understands her. The whole world, including her world, is out to get her and so it is best for her to remain silent. Ironically, the person Melinda finds as the outlet to help her express her feelings is her art teacher, Mr. Freeman. In a class assignment, Melinda is assigned to create an art project based on a tree. She begins to express her inner angst through this art project. At one point, she uses dried bones to sculpt a picture of a skeleton. Then she glues broken knives and forks to the project so that the bones look like the plastic utensils are stabbing them. It is a grim depiction of how Melinda feels, and is immediately praised by Mr. Freeman. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Reflection Paper On Genesis Genesis teaches us many things in regards to the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. Genesis is the book that describes the beginning of the known world. God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh, which we refer to as the Sabbath. It tells the story of how animals and plants came to be. It tells us how we as the human race came to be. It also gives us an insight into relationships and the human race and cohabiting the earth. When God created heaven and earth, he wanted to also create those that would be a reflection to his image. He wanted to create more and something that could be good to what he created in the beginning. Earth was created by him and with doing that, he thought to create humankind that could be good to the earth and be superior to everything around them. In Genesis 1:26–27, God talked about how he created humankind within his image so that they would be like God. In Genesis 1:26–27, for humanity to be created in image of God, this meant that God wanted humankind reflect the attributes his aspects of joy, love, peace, compassion and mercy the same as he did. God is the ruler over the entire earth because he created it and he wants human kind to be that ruling monarch over what he has created. God wants humankind to be good to what he has created just as he is good to every living thing. Humankind is the summit of creation and was created for good. God created humankind so that they could have a relationship with God. In order for humankind to be in the image of God, they have to know God and what he resembles. • 16. Essay on Book of John One of the major themes of the Book of John is to prove that Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God. What makes these miracles so special is the difficulty faced to create them and what each is trying to teach. There are seven main miracles, seven being a significant number throughout the bible, that are used to help better understand Jesus and his true identity. We can also find a last miracle in His resurrection, which in itself is simply put that Jesus is a part of God because of how impossible this action seemed. The last miracle is sometimes skipped as a sign that Jesus is the Christ and Messiah. This book was written from true events which is why it is made important and allows people to see who Jesus is. The reason...show more content... They did not learn the lesson that John was getting at, and they could not realize that in front of them stood Jesus, the true Messiah. No matter what miracle or action was done, their views could not be turned around to believe in Jesus. The fourth sign involves Jesus multiplying bread and fish which can be translated to mean that Jesus is the creative word. He is the giver of life, which is what the bread would represent. Jesus proves himself to be greater than Moses by being the true creator of man's provisions. Jesus points out that he can give physical life, but most importantly give spiritual life because he is the true bread of life. The Messiah is expected to feed people miraculously, which is exactly was Jesus does in the instance. This would then mean the people recognized that he was a Messianic figure. Due to the misinterpretation because of the earthly minds that people have, they wanted physical life and not the spiritual sense of it. Therefore, they wanted to make Jesus an earthly king instead of the Messianic figure that he was. Jesus then had to point out the true meaning of what he had done emphasizing that those who go to him in faith will find life. False faith would mean that the people believed in the miracle but not in who Jesus truly was. Receiving life through Jesus would illustrate a trusting response to him and who he truly was, the son of God. • 17. Harry Potter Essay Harry Potter In the past couple years, there has been a growing phenomenon in the world of children's literature, this phenomenon is Harry Potter. J.K. Rowlings series of novels about a young wizard and his years at "Hogwarts School of Wizarding and Witchcraft," has become one of the most successful children's book series of all time. Before reading any of the now four novels, one may find it hard to believe that a children's novel may be so entertaining. But once one starts reading any of the four books, it is plain to see why these books are so popular. Whether it is a fight for his life, winning a quidditch match, or just staying out of trouble, these novels are anything but boring. This I believe, is one of the biggest reasons why these books have been such a success, the author knows how to keep the story going at all times in order to maintain the readers attention. Another factor which I believe has led to the novels success is that while reading, the reader wishes that they could live in this fantasy world created by Rowling where life is anything but ordinary. The novels make the reader somewhat desire a life like the one led by the characters of the novels, like going to a school to learn wizarding, always having extraordinary things happen and just being at Hogwarts seems like an unequaled joy for some. These novels have the ability to reignite the long lost imaginations of adults, and keep the imaginations of children strong. Although I am a strong supporter of this book series, I do find one thing wrong with the books. All the novels have endings which are almost the same, Harry saves the day and Voldemort the major antagonist gets defeated in one way or another. Also only Harry and his friends seem to be the ones who go on adventures to defeat huge beasts or save family members from monsters known as dementors, this to me makes the novel slightly unappealing but still one of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Descriptive Essay On The Bookstore The digital age has slowly allowed physical books to be replaced by electronic books and movies. In the last decade, the decrease in demand for hard copy books have caused numerous bookstores to pack their bags and go out of business. It took both hope and courage for Josh Spencer to open up his very own bookstore. On the corner of 5th and Spring street, stood a towering 12–floor structure, with what seemed like an apartment complex on top and a bookstore below, each made distinguishable by a stone–flower pattern that bordered the edges of the building. The grey stone structure had an antique architectural design. Massive windows enclosed by thin black frames lined the building as rusted black iron gates were left ajar to welcome visitors. Located in the heart of Los Angeles, The Spring Arts Tower houses the renowned shop, The Last Bookstore. As I walked past the bright orange sign that indicated the storefront, beyond the iron gates, and through the glass door, I found myself in a brightly lit four–cornered room. Each wall was painted with colorful patterns of geometrical shapes. To my left, a cashier sat behind a counter, reading a yellowingbook. An overflowing amount of magazines were seen on the opposite side waiting to be read. The owner, Josh Spencer was sitting in his wheelchair, waiting by a second set of doors that led into the bookstore itself. When he saw me, he wheeled out and greeted me with a warm smile. Honestly, I think romance is the only genre I have read in quite awhile. I recently read the book If I stay by Gayle Forman. A book that most definitely challenges you to think about moving on, following your passion and continuing with life after a tragedy. Something that isn't very common among the regular romance books. This was the kind of book that showed the power of love and how strong it can really be. It was something different, and in my opinion was a very good read. The book If I stay by Gayle Forman is about a young girl named Mia, her brother, and her parents. It starts out on a snowy day. The kids don't have school, so their parents call into work and they decide to go out. They end up getting into a car crash leaving the parents dead, and Mia and her brother in critical condition. Mia then enters a stage between death and life, and experiences an out–of–body awareness.
