WORK EXPERIENCE
Periodical & journal section:
First I was assigned to work in periodical and journal section where I spent two
week arranging the bound volumes of journals and periodicals in first two days.
And in rest of the days, I gained experience catalyzing old bills of journals and
periodicals according to their vender’s name and invoice number and date
along with file reference and amount details.
 Circulation Section (Check in & Check out :
I spent one week in Circulation Section and membership section where I
learnt issuing and retuning text book (check in & check out) and
membership related works . I worked on various books as an experimental
check in and check- out which was quite interesting and helped me a lot in
understanding the circulation of books.
I spent one week on this floor. I shelved the Government
Document and UN documents and arranged them according
to their call number and cutler number and correction in
virtua (MRAC).
 9th floor: Govt. Document :
 7th floor: Press clipping and bound volume Newspapers
dissertation and thesis books.
 I spent one week on this floor clipping papers especially political
articles, During these five days I also spent some time accessioning
thesis.
 Acquisition Section:
 shifted to Acquisition Section where I spent one week. The bulk of my
work in this section was based on accessioning new acquired books
in accession register in addition with stamping them and checked the
duplication of books gifted by any organization or person.
 Technical Section:
 In this section I came to know about how I could online
catalogues and classification.

Challenges and how I
overcome them
Conclusion
 The Internship Programme has proved very beneficial to me. It not only
gave me the experience but also exposure to the various professionals and
typical works. However, the duration of the Training Programme wasn’t
enough to work properly in each and every section of a library, particularly
in a university library. It is my experience that university or institute library is
more suitable for training because it provides more services.
