The two different chronologies for the patriarchs are because there are two significantly different ways of dating the Exodus. You'll need to look at the evidence and draw your own conclusions! Note that these are still a work in progress, but they're available now for those who want them in this unfinished form. Updated 11 Jun 2012 to correct a mistyped date and in July 2014 because I'd failed to notice that Leviticus and Numbers were the wrong way round!
