Touchmark welcomes two new team members
Lora Hovland has joined Touchmark as the new Life Enrichment/Wellness director, and Ken
Alexander is serving as the new Health Services administrator.
Meet Lora
Managing the
award-winning
Full Life Wellness
& Life Enrichment
Program™, Lora
brings a variety
of professional
and volunteer
experiences to
this position.
She has worked
as an operations
manager/
executive assistant at Cetera Financial for five
years. Her background also includes 11 years as
an elementary-school teacher in California and
Maple Valley, Wash. During her years in social
welfare, she worked with families and provided
training and resources to make abusive homes
safer and more nurturing. Today, she volunteers
with the Honor Flight Network and Serve
Spokane.
Lora received her Bachelor of Arts in Social
Welfare from California State University, Fresno.
She holds a Master’s in Education from City
University in Bellevue, Wash. The mother of two
adult sons, Lora also is an avid Seahawks fan.
Meet Ken
In his role as
Health Services
Administrator, Ken
oversees the assisted
living, memory
care, nursing,
and rehabilitative
services, bringing 12
years of experience
in long-term care
to the position.
Previously, he
served as executive director of Whitman Health
and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax, Wash. He
has also held a variety of administrative positions
with several rehabilitative and care communities
in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. In addition,
he has worked as a rehab tech, assisting physical
and occupational therapists.
A graduate of Washington State University,
Ken holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology
and a minor in Biology. Away from work, Ken
enjoys spending time with his wife and their
family that includes two daughters and two sons.
He especially likes outdoor activities and is a
snowboarder when the slopes are white.

Giving to those in need
Resident Mayo Sayrs (above) joined staff members as the group delivered gifts to Hope House, a shelter for
women and children in need. Residents and team members collected numerous useful gifts, including warm
pajamas, new clothing, and toiletries.

Resident Ginny Thompson organized the Sally’s
House Stuffed Animal Drive at Touchmark. Residents
and staff donated stuffed animals so children who
arrive at the Salvation Army emergency foster home,
Sally’s House, can be surprised and comforted with
a new stuffed animal.

Residents started the New Year’s Eve celebration with a champagne punch social, donning party hats and
enjoying piano music by Austin Whiting, who is also Touchmark’s new bus driver. The evening continued
with a candlelight dinner served by Executive Chef Steven Mitchell and concluded with revelers ringing in
the new year with games and a champagne toast.
