A Media Institution is a company involved in the Media
that produces Media texts such as films, magazines, t.v
shows, or any other media product.
Examples of media institutions are:
Universal Pictures, who produce and distribute
blockbuster films, or
Lions-gate, who produce and distribute a different genre
and style of film.
3. Bauer Media
Bauer is a multinational media company headquartered in
Hamburg, Germany which operates in 16 countries worldwide.
Since the company was founded in 1875, it has been privately
owned and under management by the Bauer family. It was
formerly called Heinrich Bauer Verlag KG, abbreviated to HBV
and usually shortened to H. Bauer.
Worldwide circulation of Bauer Media Group's magazine titles
amounts to 38 million magazines a week.
4. Kerrang!!!!
Kerrang is a UK based rock magazine which is published by the
large media group Bauer.
It was first published It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a
one-off supplement in the sounds newspaper.
Kerrang was initially devoted to New wave of British Heavy Metal
and the rise of hard rock acts.
In the early 2000s it became the best-selling British music
newspaper.
5. Development Hell LTD
• Development Hell Ltd is an independent media company based in
Islington, London.
• They currently publish the market leading international dance
music magazine, Mix-mag.
• The board of Development Hell is chaired by Peter Strong and
comprises Managing Director Jerry Perkins, Editorial Director David

7. NME
New musical express, popularly known by the acronym NME, created by
Theodore Ingham, is a UK weekly pop/rock music journalism publication
published since march 1952.
It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in 14 November
1952 edition. In the 1970s it became the best selling British music
magazine.
NME is the longest published and most respected music weekly in the

8. What media Institution would distribute my Magazine and
why?
After looking at my research
I would like Development hell
LTD to distribute my music
magazine. I think as they have
similar magazines to mine for
example ‘Mix-mag’ I think it
would fit in nicely. With my
genre of my magazine being
house music and dance I think
that by this media group
distributing my magazine it
would be successful.
looking at figures they sell
approximately 21,250 in a
year, which gives me an idea
that if this media group did
distribute my magazine for
me it would do pretty well.
