accomplish set objectives.

The Allstate Corporation is the second largest insurance provider in the United
States but does not limit itself just to insuring individuals, families, and small businesses.
Allstate also offers retirement and investment services as well as some banking services.
Operating all under one umbrella Allstate has multiple branches that are independent of
one another. Auto, property, power sports, and life are the insurance branches while
banking, retirement, and IRAs round out the rest of the bunch. Based in Northbrook,
Illinois, Allstate is the nation's largest publicly held personal lines insurer and one of the
nation's leading insurers in urban areas.
For more than 75 years, Allstate leaders, employees and agency owners have been
passionate about leading positive change in this country. Serving as a consumer advocate
- and an advocate for the American economy - is an integral part of Allstate's heritage. In
the 1930s, Allstate was one of the first companies to create a sophisticated rate
classification system, giving better rates to safe drivers; in the 1950s Allstate opened its
first drive-in claim office, revolutionizing the way automobile claims are handled; in the
1960s the company helped convince the government to make seat belt use mandatory; in
the 1970s and 1980s Allstate played an instrumental role in advocating the safety benefits
of air bags; and in the 1990s and 2000s Allstate has continued to take a public stand on
issues that are important to consumers. (The allstate corp)
Allstate’s vision is as follows: At Allstate, we believe business is a part of society,
not apart from society. As one of our nation's leading financial services companies, we
have a responsibility to be a great corporate citizen. Now there mission statement is such:
4. Allstate 4
“From the workplace to the marketplace, we are committed to inclusive diversity and we
engage people with honesty, caring and integrity. Allstate helps communities across
America through our volunteer committees, our corporate and employee giving programs
and Allstate Foundation grants. We have a passion to lead positive change in this
country, both in our industry and society.” (Can you afford not to be in good hands? )
Diversity is also an important issue to Allstate. The company believes that
workplace diversity is essential to serving the diverse marketplace. The code of ethics
defines inclusive diversity as the collective differences of all difference in the workforce,
workplace, and marketplace. They believe that diversity defines all people and in holding
each other personally and professionally responsible to treat all other people with equality
and that’s what leads to winning environment for all. Their commitment to diversity has
lead to recognition by more than 45 different media publications and associations that
monitor diversity and workplace issues.
In terms of the companies planning they boast their agents’ capabilities to provide
excellent service to their customers. Allstate agents can assist customers in choosing
affordable policies and coverage that can be tailored to the liking of the individual.
Allstate offers a range of policies and coverage levels that can help you protect yourself
and your family right now. An Allstate Agent can help you make sure you take into
account your income, assets, and responsibilities and your plans for the future, giving you
confidence that you're not just covered, you're really protected. Allstate doesn’t offer do
it yourself coverage, just because you can choose many different options doesn’t mean

you are choosing what is your best coverage and this is where the agent comes in with
expertise to aid in the process. This helps the customer feel comfortable and makes
choosing alternatives much easier. The overall goal is to exceed customer expectations
and rely not on profits but satisfaction of the individuals investing their money and safety
into the Allstate corporation.
Allstate is no stranger to competition in the market. State Farm, Nationwide,
Geico, and Progressive are all strong companies that give Allstate a run for their money.
Geico and Progressive advertise similarly with very recognizable marketing and
emphasis on their perks and policies. State Farm is the only insurance provider that has
been more successful than Allstate though. All the competitors offer accident forgiveness
after a certain point of continuous coverage but Allstate stands head and shoulders above
these companies in other areas. These following policies are unique to Allstate alone. The
safe driving bonus allows drivers to take 5% off of their renewal bill for avoiding
accidents. Allstate offers immediate accident forgiveness, where as the next closest
company, being Nationwide, offers it after 3 years of coverage. After one year Allstate
offers a $100 deductible discount to those covered by their auto insurance. New car
replacement if you purchase a new car and it is totaled. This means that you can get a
completely new vehicle with no cost to yourself. Allstate also offers these 5 ways to
lower insurance premiums.
1. Discount are offered for safe driving, owning a new car, or even good grades for
teenagers. Discounts aren’t limited to just one either.
6. Allstate 6
2. By adjusting your deductible this can lower your premium significantly even if
only adjusting a small amount.
3. Your coverage might actually exceed the value of your car. If your Collision and
Comprehensive equals 10 percent (or more) of your car's value (for example, if
you're car's worth $4,000 and you're paying $400 or more in premiums), it's
probably time to reduce your Collision and/or Comprehensive deductible to save
some cash.
4. Your credit score can affect your risk profile. And a high risk-profile means high
premiums. So check your credit report regularly for errors, and remember that
staying on top of bills can actually lower them in the long run.
5. Some cars actually cost less to insure and the list might surprise you. So if you're
shopping for a new ride, why not consider a car that can lower your premiums.

It was very difficult to find individual leadership publications referring to the
board of directors or executives but the company does encourage its workers to be leaders
in their own rights. Allstate touts a high performance work environment with a diverse
team of employees
that encourages individual accountability, innovative thinking and continuous learning
and improvement. This philosophy was evidenced when the company invited its
employees to participate in a voluntary innovation competition in which proposals would
be reviewed and judged to determine the one winning idea that would be implemented
within the company. Allstate now has a leadership academy they direct employees to
because they think leadership is the one thing that all successful organizations have in
common. They designed a program that would
enable people at all levels to develop leadership skills which they could take with them
back to their respective roles within the company.
I would like to venture into the insurance realm and I have had second hand
experience with Allstate. The claims agents were very helpful when my girlfriend and I
were in a rollover accident in December 2008. They called her the day after the accident
just to see how she was feeling and waited for her to call them before discussing any

issues with replacing or fixing her car. Eventually the car was totaled and appraised.
Allstate ended up issuing a check in her name for $1000 over blue book value. Her rates
were not increased even though she crashed as a result of ice and the accident was
completely forgiven. I would like to join the company and open up my own office. I
don’t particularly like having a supervisor looking over my shoulder and this is why I
would like to join a company like Allstate and be able to operate freely upon my own will
but carry a highly respected name.
