Indiahostedthe 5th meetingof the SouthAsian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)
HealthMinisteriesin NewDelhi. The 5th meeting was on 9 April2015and wasbeingheld in
pursuance of decisions taken by the SAARCSummit of Headsof States held at Kathmanduin
November 2014.
Purpose of the meeting- The meeting deliberatedon keyissues includingHIV-AIDS, preventionof
non-communicable and communicable diseases andto strengthen collaborationsamongst the
membernations.
Frame a road map for strengthening collaboration amongSAARCcountries on a numberof
issuesand challenges facedby them.
15. The brics summitwas on 14-16 july. THE NEXTBRICSSUMMIT WILL BE HELD
THIS YEAR8-9 JULY 2015. and a reservecurrency pool worthan additional
US$100 billion.
IT MAINLY AIMS AT THE CREATIONOf the NEWDEVELOPMENT BANKTHAT
HAS BEEN ONE OF THE TOP PRIORITYISSUESTHAT HAS BEEN DISCUSSED
SO FAR IN ALL BRICS SUMMIT IN AN ATTEMPTTO BY PASS WESTERN-
DOMINATEDINTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND(IMF) ANDTHE WORLD
BANK. ARGENTINA, EGYPT, IRAN, NIGERIAAND SYRIAHAVE ALSO
SHOWNKEENINTEREST IN JOININGBRICSIN THE NEAR FUTURE.

presidentof 2014 summitaustralia's tony abbott intendedthe summitto focus
exclusively on revamping the crisis prone fragile economy andto add US$2 trillionin
the global economy by additional 2%global GDP growthrate for the next five years
but countries like US was more keento discuss issues of climate change and reduction
of carbonemissionas it sealeda similar pact withchina. India's interestwas also
alignedwithabbottas it wants to reboot its economy and returnto the high growth
trajectory soon.
