Congress passed this act for the protection and
conservation of animals and plants that were
threatened by extinction

6. THE SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT 1974
This act required the Environmental Protection
Agency to set and enforce standards to protect the
nation’s drinking water supply
The EPA must oversee all states, localities and
water suppliers so that they implement these
standards
7. RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND RECOVERY
ACT 1976
Authorized Environmental Protection Agency to
regulate the disposal of and treatment of municipal
solid and hazardous wastes
