Education literally means the things a person learns by being taught.
So, the definition of a good education would be the things a person learns by being taught well.
But what exactly does that mean? No one has ever told you that, right. To me a good education is
basically achieved when a person has a general to specific knowledge of the things that have
happened in the world, things that could happen in the future of the world, how to communicate
with others, and how to live safely in the world today.

enough for a person to be able to function in society.
However, knowing a little bit of detail about authors in history would be of great help.
People should also know a little about what could happen in the future. They should know a little
about the ways the government could change, space exploration breakthroughs, who is forming a
peace treaty, as well as if a war could break out. This information is very general and
changing constantly, however, it is very important to know. If a person did not know for instance
that one country has problems with another, a war could break out and they would have no idea

speech that Devaughn Williams gave while running for president of Phi Delta Theta Ohio Gamma

Challenges Of Giving A Speech
Life is about challenges and there are challenges we face by having to give a speech as well as
the stress on what to give a speech over to keep your audience attentive. We connect with each other
through the words we speak whether it is in a large group or one on one in a working interview. A
teacher has to learn how to communicate in many different ways to help every student learn in their
own unique way.
I always found it hard to pick a topic that I want to discuss or write about. In my opinion, it is easier
to give a speech that you are well familiar with than having to do research to educate yourself on

will allow you to speak without having to look off of your legal pad, furthermore builds trust with

My first point was very short. It was so short that it probably should have been included in my
second point. I do feel, however, if I had been afforded more time to speak, I would have balanced
my points out more effectively. As I gain more experience in the public speaking arena, I believe I
will be able to condense the main points effectively in the time I am allotted.
We all want our listeners to stay interested in what we have to say; in formal public speaking, and
everyday conversation. It seems far easier to keep the audience interested in everyday conversation
because the setting is generally more informal. However, in a formal setting, connectives are vital to
keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. I now realize that simply pausing between main
points are not good connectives,in most cases. Pausing, in my opinion, gives the audience an
opportunity to mentally drift away from the speech, depending on the length of the pause. Pausing
may be acceptable if the speaker is using signposts, but when signposts are used, the audience is
made aware of what's coming after the pause, which makes them more likely to keep listening. In my
opinion, connectives are extremely important in certain situations where the audience is only
attending out of necessity such as in a business meeting. In these situations, many members of

Reflection Speech
Initially, when I first registered to enroll for this online Speech class, I did not know what to
expect. I thought that we would only meet in order to present the required speeches and then I
thought that we would have a virtual classroom to give speeches were we were all online at once.
Now I know that both of my guesses were wrong. For our speeches, we either record them online
and invite classmates as audience members to watch, or have a live audience of family and/or
friends that record you giving your speech in your living room or somewhere similar. When I found
out that these were the ways I would be giving my speeches, I was so surprised. When I am
speaking in front of a live audience in a classroom, I get so nervous, so I thought that this method of
giving presentations might be less anxious for me.
The first speech was the Most Embarrassing Moment speech. I honestly was still so nervous to
record this even though I would just be looking at my computer screen. It felt kind of weird,
almost as if I was video chatting with myself. After I memorized my speech and sent in my
recording, I immediately assumed that I failed because the professor would think that I was too
close to the screen or I was too loud or I moved my head around a lot. Then I ended up getting an
