Introductions
   Precedes a longer speech
   Provides
       Nature of occasion
       Key information about speaker
       Identify topic or title of main speech
   Remember
       Don’t overdo it
       Give accurate information
       Don’t “ruin” the main speech
Recognition **
   Presents an award to a person or group
   Describe nature of the award – history,
    source, etc
   Explain specific criteria of award
   Describes recipient’s achievements in
    relation to award
Acceptance **
   Acknowledges receipt of an award
   Thanks to source of the award
   Express feelings about recognition
   Acknowledge help from others that
    contributed to the award
Toasts
   Extremely short
   Focus on one characteristic of person
    or occasion
   Wedding toasts
       Can be longer
       Don’t make everyone uncomfortable
Tributes and Eulogies **
   Honors person’s life / accomplishments
   Select 3 or 4 positive qualities as main
    points
   Related stories provide support for each
    point
