Being and Becoming a Technology Leader on Campus
1. Being and Becoming a Technology Leader on Campus
Hosting Technology Tuesday in the Library
Presentation by Neil Krasnoff
DISD Librarians Summit, August 12, 2010
Summary: Technology Tuesdays began last year at Woodrow Wilson HS as an informal and social way
of promoting ongoing professional development on classroom technology use. As the facilitator of this
group, the librarian needs to bring new ideas to the table that will be of interest to teachers.
Additionally, it helps if the librarian uses technology in an innovative way within the library, as a
means of showcasing what is possible. This workshop will demonstrate how librarians can learn about
new tools from colleagues and thought leaders from around the world, and spread them to the teachers
they serve on campus.
Multi-tasking is encouraged during this presentation! Here are some things to do while I talk:
1.Download a QR Code Reader to your Smart Phone. This application is available free of charge,
for most phones from wherever you find your Apps. Search for “QR code reader.” Beetagg.com is a
Web site with an application available as well as a good explanation. Your phone must have a camera
for the application to work.
2.Now imagine that you have the book “Power of One” on display in your library. You have placed the
QR Code below on the cover of the book.. Scan the QR Code with your Phone using the App you just
downloaded. You should see something happen!
3. If you do not have a Twitter account, sign up for on Twitter. Go to www.twitter.com or
scan this QR code.
4. Follow me on Twitter. Go to www.twitter.com/txlibraryguy or scan this QR code.
5. Tweet a mention of me @txlibraryguy and register to win a prize! Use Hashtag
#disdlibraries. Must be a follower of @txlibraryguy and enter before 3pm for a
chance to win.
