The Upward Bound Math Science (UBMS) Program is designed to strengthen the math and science
skills of participating students. The goal of UBMS is to help students recognize and develop their
potential to excel in math and science and to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in
math and science, and ultimately careers homework help in the math and science profession. The
program serves students in Cumberland (Douglas Byrd High and Westover High) and Robeson
(Lumberton High) Counties. UBMS serves students in the 9th-12th grades.
The Upward Bound Math Science (UBMS) Program is currently seeking qualified individuals to
serve as part-time tutors during spring 2015.
Part-time Math/Science Tutor in Robeson County to participants who attend Lumberton High
Minimum http://www.wyzant.com/algebra_tutors.aspx Qualifications:
A college student majoring in math, science or related field
Received an A or B in the course to serve as a tutor
A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher
Must be able to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing)
Must have an interest in Spanish Tutor working with high school students
Must have own transportation
Ability to work with disadvantaged youth
Previous tutorial experience required
Compensation: $15.00 an hour/6-10 hours per week
