Offering a unique service, uBiome uses research from the NIH Human Microbiome Project to enhance overall understanding of the human microbiome, the ecosystem of microorganisms that live on and in the human body. To promote citizen science, uBiome provides the tools and information that an average person can use to learn about his or her own microbiome. Participants order a microbiome kit online from uBiome, activate an account at the website, and fill out a survey. Once the kit arrives, participants take their sample and return the results back to the company, who then completes the sequencing process. uBiome helps customers visualize their microbiomes on a secure, private webpage.
